My girlfriend wants me to move to Japan and marry her

Hey, so— hey, so in this video I want to

talk a bit about marriage. So last night I

was talking to my girlfriend on Skype,

and there's kind of like— I don't know if

I'm using this phrase correctly or not,

but there's an elephant in the room when

it comes to me and her, and that elephant

is marriage. And when we're talking on

Skype, she often says things like, I wish

you didn't have to leave after 2 weeks. I

wish there was a way you could stay in

Japan forever so we can be together.

And it's And it's like she's hinting that

she wants to talk about marriage, but she

never actually brings up the topic

herself. So I thought to myself yesterday,

why don't I just bring up the subject,

bring up the topic? And I said to her,

the only way I could stay in Japan

long-term is if I got married and I got a

marriage visa, because I don't have a

bachelor's degree, I didn't go to

university, so I don't think it's actually

possible for me to get a working visa,

even if a Japanese company were to sponsor

me. I don't think I'd actually qualify to

get a working visa. I don't know if I'm

correct about that. I might be wrong. I

wouldn't even want to work for a Japanese

company anyway because I see Japanese

people as very hardworking and serious

when it comes to work, and I'm like the

opposite. If I hate my job, then I find it

really difficult to take the job seriously

and do the tasks properly. That's one of

the reasons— well, it's the only reason

why I'm having so many problems with my

current coworker, because he's that kind

of person who takes the job really

seriously and he's really hardworking,

which I know it sounds great, doesn't it?

But if you're a lazy person like me who

doesn't really give a shit about his job,

it's really difficult for me to work with

those kinds of people. I don't think I'm

lazy when it comes to things that I'm

actually interested in doing. For example,

I could spend 10 to 12 hours every day

working on an illustration, trying to make

it perfect, trying to make it the best

that it can be. But when it comes to

stacking shelves or serving customers, I

really couldn't care less. So anyway, I

told my girlfriend about this. I said that

that the only way I could live in Japan

long-term is if we got married. And she

actually said she wouldn't mind getting

married to me. I know, it's kind of

shocking. We haven't actually even met yet

and we're already discussing marriage. It

kind of reminds me of my very first online

girlfriend who was also a Japanese girl.

And we were in a relationship for about 2

years and we considered each other as

boyfriend and girlfriend even though we

never met. And we used to talk about these

things all the time, like marriage,

living together, having kids. In the end,

she met this Czech Republic guy and

married him. So, so in a way, it's kind of

nice because it's nostalgic and it reminds

me of that girl. So me and my current

girlfriend, we were looking up stuff about

marriage. Now in the UK, if a British

person wants to marry a foreign person and

bring them over here and get them a

marriage visa, that, that British person

has to be earning at least £22,000 a year.

I know it's really strict. You have to be

earning quite a lot of money if you want

to marry someone and bring them into this

country and get them a marriage visa. But

in Japan, there doesn't seem to be that—

there doesn't seem to be any rule or law

like that. We looked it up on various

websites. We couldn't find anything that

says you need to be earning a certain

amount of money to be able to get your

foreign spouse a marriage visa. I remember

looking this stuff up back in 2014 when I

nearly married my ex-Japanese girlfriend,

and the reason why I left her, I kind of

chickened out of getting married, was

because I knew that if we had gotten

married, I would have been trapped in

Japan, and I would have been forced into

getting another shitty job in a kitchen or

a convenience store, and I wouldn't have

any time to concentrate on, on hobbies or

interests or trying to get a better job,

because all of my hobbies, things like

drawing and doing YouTube, making videos,

and translation, I need to be alone to do

them. I can't have someone around me

talking to me or trying to get my

attention when I'm trying to focus. I need

to concentrate on doing those things. And

the problem with my ex-girlfriend was she

was the kind of— she was a bit of a needy

person, kind of like me. It's kind of

ironic, isn't it? But she was 10 times

more clingy than I am, and she would get

upset and start sulking if I ignored her

or if I did something else that didn't,

that didn't concern her, she would feel

like I was ignoring her. And the idea of

being trapped in Japan, stuck in a rubbish

job, really scared me. So I decided to

leave her. We called the marriage off,

and I came back home to the UK. So I

decided to come back to the UK, and I

dedicated all my time to digital art and

World of Warcraft. I remember I first

started doing artwork digitally on my

Samsung Note 3 with the S Pen. And that

was fine, but the screen was really small,

so it was kind of difficult to do

anything. And then I decided to get the

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10, which was a big

tablet, and I also had the S Pen. But the

problem was Android wasn't so great back

then, and the drawing app I used kept

crashing, and I had, I had to keep saving

every 5 minutes, otherwise it would crash

and then I'd lose all my work. There was

this one time I lost a whole day's worth

of work because I wasn't saving it. And it

crashed and the file got corrupted and I

had to do it all over again from the

beginning. It was so frustrating. So I

decided to sell that and I got an iPad

Mini and I did all my drawings on the iPad

Mini for about a year just using my

finger. Actually, the whole webcomic that

I made called Hazel's Planet of Ice was

all done using my finger. I didn't have a

stylus. And then this year I decided to

get the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil.

And it cost about £800, so it was pretty

expensive, but I really think it was worth

the money because it's so good for

drawing. It does everything that I need a

drawing app to do. I use Procreate, and

it's 100 times better than anything that's

on Android. Anyway, the reason why I'm not

against the idea of considering getting

married to someone again in Japan is

because I feel like this time, this

situation is slightly different to what

happened a few years ago. I feel like I

have different opportunities right now.

For example, I have this YouTube channel

and I have Fiverr. I'm actually getting a

lot of orders on Fiverr. I've made about

$80 in the last 2 weeks on Fiverr, which I

know it's not a huge amount of money, but

for me, I've never earned money before

using my skills, using my Japanese

language skills or my artwork skills.

I've never made money from Japanese

translation before, so $80 in the last 2

weeks is pretty exciting for me. And I

have several people who are interested in

paying me to do artwork for them, paying

me to do commissions for them. And yeah,

I know it's not a lot of money right now,

but I feel like I have several things that

I could be working on that could

potentially grow larger in the future.

For example, my Fiverr stuff, the YouTube

channel, the artwork stuff. I feel like if

I concentrate more on those things, I can

grow them, and maybe sometime in the

future I can make enough money off them to

live off it. My biggest dream in life, my

biggest goal in life, is to be able to

make money doing things that I'm

interested in and things that I enjoy,

and not have to do some crappy job in a

kitchen or in a convenience store. I think

I would have serious problems with my

current girlfriend if she told me to get a

real job, to get a full-time job, and to

just do my hobbies and interests on the

side. I think I would actually end up

leaving her if she said something like

that, because Working at the petrol

station has kind of taught me that I don't

want to be working in those kind of jobs.

I don't want to be doing things that I

absolutely hate. I want to focus all my

energy and effort onto finding

ways to make money using skills that I

have and doing things I actually enjoy.

And I've talked to her about these things

and she seems to be very supportive. She

doesn't say anything like, I don't think

that's a good idea, you should keep your

job. You should focus on something else.

So I feel like she's on my side when it

comes to these things. I know a lot of you

are going to think that I'm crazy for

actually considering getting married to

someone that I haven't even met yet, and

maybe I am a little crazy, but I don't

really feel like I'm taking this too

seriously. I'm not really thinking about

it seriously. It's just like an option

that I could potentially take if I decide

that I do really like this girl and I want

to have a future with her. If you're

Anyway, I just wanted to make this video

to let you know that my girlfriend is open

to the idea of getting married to me, and

I'm also open to the idea of getting

married to her and moving to Japan. If I

feel like she's the right person for me.

I know it's way too early to be even

considering these things. We haven't even

met yet, and I'm not really learning

anything from my past mistakes. I'm just

repeating what I've done before and

expecting a different result. But I feel

like this situation is slightly different

to the past, that it's similar, but at the

same time it's not exactly the same.

There's slight variations. Oh, and on a

completely unrelated note, it's actually

my birthday today. I turned 28. And I

made a mistake. I let my boss know that it

was my birthday today when I asked for the

day off, and last night when I went into

work, there was a birthday card and a load

of cupcakes waiting for me. And I don't

like when people know when my birthday is

because I don't like the attention. I

don't like people wishing me a happy

birthday. I don't like people buying me

cakes and setting up candles and lighting

candles and singing me birthday songs.

It just feels really awkward. I don't like

the attention from it, and I don't like

the way people are extra nice to you just

because it's your birthday. It makes me

feel kind of uncomfortable. I know a lot

of you who are realistic, logical thinkers

are going to be screaming at me, no,

don't do it! What are you thinking? How

can you even consider getting married to

someone you haven't even met yet? How can

you even be considering leaving your

stable job to focus on your YouTube

channel and your Fiverr career? And I just

think that sometimes you have to be

delusioned enough to a certain point to be

able to make your dreams come true. See
