The Witcher 3 Review - Switch Lite Gameplay

Hi, today I want to talk about The Witcher

3 on the Switch and maybe on the computer

as well, because I recently bought myself

a new Switch Lite. Yeah, I know I said I

wasn't going to get one, but I ended up

getting one anyway, even though I had the

original Switch before and I ended up

selling it because I just didn't really

find any games on it that I really enjoyed

playing. But I was tempted to get the new

Switch Lite just because it looks Nice. I

know that's a stupid reason, but I like

nice looking things. The Switch Lite just

looks and feels a lot better than the

original Switch. I think it's because it's

just one device instead of, you know, you

have the detachable Joy-Cons which squeak

and make squeaky sounds if you bend it too

hard. I just didn't like the original

Switch that much because it didn't feel

like one cohesive system, but the Switch

Lite is all just one thing. And it just

feels like a more solid device to me, and

I prefer the way it's smaller and lighter,

and it just feels better to hold. Anyway,

this video isn't about Switch Lite. So

after I got the Switch Lite, I decided to

get myself Mario Kart, which I played for

about 10 minutes before getting bored,

and I also got this game called Dead

Cells, which also got boring after 20

minutes. So I started searching for a new

game to play, and And The Witcher 3 caught

my eye. I was kind of surprised when I

found out this game was on Switch because

I remember buy— I remember buying The

Witcher 3 on PC a few years ago. Well,

maybe more than a few years ago, maybe 4

or 5 years ago. It was quite a long time

when it first came out. And the first time

I played The Witcher 3, I really, really

hated it. I thought the story was really

boring. It just seemed like some kind of

Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones ripoff.

Didn't really do anything special or

original that I could tell, and the combat

was just really clunky and slow. I hated

riding that stupid horse, kept getting

stuck in fences and trees and bushes, and

it was just really frustrating. There was

this massive open world which just looked

really bland and barren and boring, and I

ended up uninstalling the game after

playing for about an hour. Fast forward to

2019, slightly before Christmas,

when I bought myself the Switch and The

Witcher 3, I started playing the game

again on the Switch Lite. But this time I

decided to be a bit more patient and try

and invest some time into the game to try

and learn about the story and the

characters and to learn how the combat is

supposed to be played. And I got addicted.

I know, it's weird. I, I got completely

hooked onto the game and And I played it

for hours and hours and hours, and I even

played it for nearly 8 hours straight on

the plane back home from England to Japan.

It was just great. I don't know why I

hated it so much the first time. I think

it was because I was impatient and I just

expected the game to be fun straight away,

because that's what I thought games were

about. You know, they're supposed to be

fun. Why'd you have to work for the fun?

So this time I, I put effort into

learning about something and realized that

when you learn about something and

understand how it works, then it becomes a

lot more fun than, you know, just not

knowing what you're doing. So after I got

back from England and arrived in Japan and

got back to my apartment, guess what I

did? Instead of playing more of The

Witcher 3 on the Switch, I ended up buying

The Witcher 3 on PC again and downloaded

it, and now I've just replayed everything

that I played on the Switch, which must

have been nearly 100 hours. I've now

caught up to where I was on the Switch on

the PC, and wow, it just looks so much

better on the PC. I'm playing it on a

32-inch MSI curved gaming monitor,

and that just blows the Switch Lite's tiny

little screen out of the water. The

problem with the game on the Switch is

Well, obviously the Switch isn't very

powerful as a device, and the graphics

just kind of suck on the Switch Lite when

you play The Witcher 3. It's all blurry.

It's not even sharp. It looks like

you've taken a video but someone smeared

butter all over the lens. Everything's

blurry, everything's fuzzy, and it still

looks kind of good, you know, when there's

good lighting, when there's a sunset

lighting up all the trees and the grass in

the fields. It looks okay, but still in

general it looks like a blurry fuzzy mess.

And then going from that to playing it on

my 15-inch MSI gaming laptop where I have

every setting turned up to ultra— wow, it

just looks so nice and pretty. I get lost

in the game just wandering around the

forests and the hills, watching the

sunsets, gazing at the moonlit sky. It's

just so beautiful. Sometimes I feel like I

want to cry. Because it's so, so gorgeous.

Sometimes I think it looks better than

real life. I look outside the window and

it's grey and boring and dull and ugly,

and I think, ugh, I don't want to look at

this. I want to look at The Witcher 3. At

least that looks pretty. Now what I'm

about to say may shock you. Well, it

probably won't shock you because I've

never said this before and you don't

really know what my gaming preferences

are. Well, usually I would say mouse and

keyboard is superior. That's because I

usually mainly play Rainbow Six and

First-person shooters, yeah, you have to

play with a mouse and keyboard. If you go

from mouse and keyboard to a controller,

it just feels really, really bad. It feels

horrible. It's like using your left hand

instead of your right hand when you're

doing you know what. It just feels weird.

But for the first time ever, I can

actually say that using the Switch's joy—

joypad? Joy-Cons? I don't know what

they're called. You know, the buttons and

the stick. When playing The Witcher 3, I

think you really need to play using a

controller because Using mouse and

keyboard is kind of uncomfortable when

you're playing this game. I'm not sure

why. Maybe it's because there's lots of

different buttons you need to use and the

default keybindings just suck so badly. I

don't know why games always default the

sprint button as Shift. I don't like

pressing the Shift button with my little

finger. I don't know about you, but my

little finger is not very powerful and I

find it difficult using my little finger

Um, what's the word? I find it difficult

to operate things using my little finger

because it's not very maneuverable. So I

usually rekeybind the sprint button to E,

and then I have to rebind everything else

because it just becomes a mess. So it

takes me a while to keybind things how I

like them. Also, I have to keep pressing

F5 to quicksave, and I have to press I to

open the inventory. And I can't see my

keyboard because I have my iPad stood in

front of my keyboard, so I don't really

know which key I'm pressing when I'm

trying to press I. And the keys are just

all over the place, and it's just— oh,

it's so annoying. I feel like I'm, I'm

operating some kind of complex machinery

when I'm trying to play The Witcher 3 on

PC. But when I'm playing on the Switch

Lite, it's just really nice because all

the buttons are where your fingers are

naturally. And it just feels a lot better

and simpler and more fluid. I think I

should get a gaming controller for my

computer. I used to have one. Well, I do

have one. It's in my room back home in

England, but I didn't decide to bring it

with me because I'm stupid. I have an Xbox

One wireless controller. That would have

been perfect. Why did I not bring it with

me? Maybe I can ask my mum to send it to

me. I also used to have a wireless PS4

controller. When I was playing Fortnite.

I don't know if anyone remembers that. I

had a little Fortnite addiction period

of my life which didn't last very long,

thank God. And I got myself a PS4

controller because I thought that would be

better than keyboard and mouse for some

reason. Shooters always need a keyboard

and mouse, but platformers and action

games, a controller is usually better.

Unfortunately, the game on the Switch is

not perfect. There are a few problems like

the fuzzy-looking graphics, but that's

unavoidable because The Switch hardware

is just not very powerful. The other

problem is it keeps crashing. I think it's

crashed about 5 times now. It's not really

a problem because it autosaves fairly

often, so you don't really have to

backtrack too much if it does randomly

crash. But it has randomly crashed a few

times and it takes a couple of minutes to

get back into the game, which is kind of

frustrating. So yeah, in conclusion, I'm

really enjoying The Witcher 3. I don't

know if I regret buying it on the Switch.

It was quite expensive. It was £50, but I

managed to get it on sale, so it was only

£35 for me. But on the PC,

on Steam, only cost £7. Isn't it crazy

how these old games are really cheap now

because they're old on Steam? They only

cost you about £5 or £7. But then when you

want to buy it on Switch, it costs bloody

£50. Such a rip-off. I guess it's because

it's a port of the game and the game

company did have to spend a lot of time

put a lot of effort and work into porting

the game over. I guess it wasn't an easy

task. It's not like they just added a

Switch option. And I quite like the story

of The Witcher 3. I'm still fairly new to

it. I'm not sure exactly who's who and

what's what. I don't really know all of

the history. Basically all I know is that

there's some empire called Nilfgaard,

and then they're trying to take over the

map. And then there's another faction

called Redania, and there used to be

another one called Temeria, but they've—

they got beaten. Now they're no more.

And there's, you know, it's just kind of

like Lord of the Rings, I think. It

doesn't really seem too much different,

but it's slightly different. I like the

atmosphere. I like how grim and dark some

of the storylines are, and some of the

quests and the side quests, they have this

very dark And scary— I don't know if it's

scary, I never really felt scared by the

game, but there's like a very grim and

depressing undertone to the game which I'm

very much enjoying. I like it when the

wind blows and it plays that sad music

when you're riding through the forests.

So in general, I would give this game a

6.8 out of 10, but if you have a

gaming PC, I would get it on PC instead of

the Switch because it just looks so much

better and And you definitely have to play

it on a 32-inch curved monitor because it

looks really, really good. I'm gonna go

have lunch now, and I need to have a

shower, and I also need to go to the

toilet really badly, so goodbye.
