How I caught Chlamydia in Japan

Hello and welcome back to a new video.

Today I want to talk about the time I got

chlamydia when I was in Japan, and this

happened about 6 years ago,

2014. So I was 25

or 24— no, 25. Yeah, I was 25,

and this was my 4th time going to Japan.

I went there to meet this Japanese woman

who was about 31 years old. And I actually

met this woman 2 years earlier in 2011 or

2012 in a guest house. At the time I

was in Japan on a working holiday visa and

I was working in a convenience store in

Tokyo. And I stayed at this guest house.

At the time I had this French girlfriend

and there was also this other Japanese

woman who I would later get into a

relationship with, but at the time we were

just kind of like friends. Well, we

weren't even friends, to be honest. We

just said hello to each other now and

then, but we weren't really close in the

guest house. We didn't really talk to each

other much. She was more friends with my

French ex-girlfriend, and they used to go

out together and chat and stuff like that.

Anyway, I didn't really have a very good

time working at a convenience store in

Japan, and it's Even though I was supposed

to stay in Japan for a whole year, I ended

up leaving after 4 months, and I went to

Korea, then back to England, and then I

went back to Japan, and then back to

Korea, and then back to England again.

And then around that time, which was now 2

years later since I was working at

the convenience store— 2 years had passed,

and then just out of the blue, randomly,

that Japanese woman started messaging me

And we, we talked a lot actually.

We started emailing each other every

single day. Back then we didn't have stuff

like messaging apps, or well, maybe we

did, but we didn't use them. We just used

email and we emailed each other nearly

every day and we started to, you know,

get pretty close. And I just randomly said

to her, I'm thinking about going to Japan

again this year. Can I stay with you?

LOL. I wasn't serious because, you know,

it's kind of a silly question to just ask

someone if I can move in with them when we

don't even know each other that well. And

surprisingly, she said okay. I was really

shocked and happy, obviously, and I

said, are you sure? She said yes, and I

said, okay, well, I'm going to book my

tickets now. And then I booked my tickets,

and about a week later I went to Japan.

Did not waste any time. I booked those

tickets and went straight to Japan as

quickly as I could. So I arrive in Japan

and she lives in Oita City, which is a

very tiny city in the Kyushu area of

Japan, which is all the way in the west.

So it's very far from Tokyo,

very far from Osaka, and I,

I arrived at Oita City on the bus.

Had to land at a different airport because

at the time there was some kind of typhoon

happening, and then Oita Airport got

closed down, so I had to land in Kumamoto

Airport. And then I had to ride the bus

for about 3 hours through the Japanese

countryside in the middle of the night—

well, not the middle of the night, but

very late in the evening, and it was

pretty dark. And there were no other

passengers on the bus. There's maybe one

other man, and then he got off after an

hour, and then I was the only passenger on

the bus. It was a bit creepy. Anyway, I

got to Oita city safely and she was

waiting there at the bus stop and she

looked so pretty because I kind of had a

bit of a crush on her when we were living

at the guest house. I thought she was kind

of cute. I guess you would say she looks

like a typical Japanese woman, but I feel

very attracted to typical Japanese women

and she had long hair and she was slim,

she had nice hips. She had a really nice

smile. One of my favorite things about her

was I really liked her smile. I liked the

shape of her mouth when she smiled.

And we had an awkward, awkward greeting.

We talked a bit, and then we went to some

kind of shop to buy a toothbrush and

toothpaste, and then she took me back to

her apartment. Oh, it's such a great

memory. I would love to go back in time

and relive it, but I guess this is the

closest I can get to it. So we walked to

her apartment and we went up the stairs,

went into the apartment, and nothing

really happened straight away. I just put

my bag down, unpacked a little bit, and

she actually prepared a little mattress

and a bed on the floor. She said I can

sleep on the floor, and then she slept in

her bed, and then we turned the lights

off, and I thought we would just go to

sleep and then that would be that, but she

started talking. In the night and she

started talking to me saying if I was

comfortable. She was asking if I would

want to switch beds and I said,

okay, I guess. So she got out of her bed

and then I got into her bed and then she

got into the floor mattress and then she

switched the lights off again and then I

thought we'd just go to sleep again but

then she started talking again And she sat

up and she said she couldn't sleep. So she

turned the lights on and then she started

asking me about my cats. She said, show me

some pictures of your cats. So I took out

my phone and I started looking for

pictures of my cats and I showed it to

her. And then she started touching my leg

and she said my legs were really hairy.

And I didn't really know what she was

doing. You know, I was only 25 or 24. I

was still kind of naive when it comes to

girls. And I was kind of confused. I had

no idea that she was interested in me in

that way. I thought we were just friends.

And then I said to her, if you're

uncomfortable in the floor bed, then you

can join me in your bed. So I invited her

back into her own bed and she said okay

and she got in and then she lay down.

She lay down facing away from me and

then certain things happened that I can't

really talk about in detail on YouTube

because I would like to make a few

dollarydoos on this video. Um,

I think you can all imagine what happened

next. It was pretty good, probably one of

my best experiences ever. I would

easily rank it in my top 5 adult

experiences. And I guess from that point

on, we became a couple and we became

boyfriend and girlfriend. Now, everything

was great until about 2 weeks later.

I started to— started to notice

that it felt weird when I peed. It was

kind of like someone was pinching my

hosepipe when I was trying to release my

watering can, and it was not comfortable.

And I thought, well, that's strange,

that's never happened to me before. Maybe

if I just leave it and wait for a bit,

it'll go away by itself. Well, it kind of

didn't go away by itself, and then I

started to develop these other symptoms

which were kind of scary. So first of all,

my knee started to swell up. My knee swo—

swelled up— swelled up! My knee started to

swell up, and I found it very difficult to

walk, and it was painful. And then my

elbow randomly started to swell up, and

then I started to get these incredibly

painful joint pains in my hips, which made

it really, really difficult to walk

around. And a lot of things happened

between us. I can't really remember

accurately, but we had a lot of arguments,

and she even kicked me out once. And I got

on the bullet train, I nearly left her,

but she asked me to come back, so I did.

And after all these arguments and leaving

and getting kicked out and stuff, um,

she also started to develop symptoms, and

she would just wake up in the middle of

the night screaming in pain. It was really

scary. I had no idea what to do. I

couldn't do anything apart from try and

ignore her screaming. There's a big

bumblebee. I don't like bees, they scare

me. And then she went to the hospital to

get checked out, and when she went to the

hospital, they found out that— well,

they didn't find out anything, but they

suspected that she may have an STD.

So they gave her some antibiotics to cure

her inflammation, her pain, but the

problem was I didn't get any antibiotics,

and even though she was taking

antibiotics, it was kind of useless

because I would just reinfect her again

from doing adult things. So nothing was

improving. Her pain was still there, my

pain was still there. It still felt weird

when I peed. So we decided to go to an

adult clinic— starts with an S,

ends with an X— and they did a bunch of

tests on us. They did a urine test where

we had to pee into a cup. They took blood

to do an HIV test, and we basically got

tested for nearly everything. And then the

results came back the next week, and they

said that we both have— look, there's a

cat! Black and white cat over there. Can

you see it? I'll try and get nearer, but

it'll run away. Oh, it ran away. Anyway,

um, we got our test results back And they

said we both have chlamydia, which is an

STD. There's someone walking over there.

I wonder if they can hear me talking about

how I got chlamydia. Let's walk in the

other way, the other direction. So I got

chlamydia from her,

and they gave us antibiotics, and they

said just take the antibiotics and then

everything will be fine. And the

uncomfortable feeling when I peed went

away. But I still got— I was still having

these really painful inflammations in my

joints, and I did some Googling and

actually found out that there's a thing

called reactive arthritis, which happens

in a very small percentage of men when

they get some kind of infection, which

could be anything. It could be salmonella,

it could be food poisoning, it could be

chlamydia. A small percentage of men also

get this reactive arthritis thing as a

side symptom where— I don't

remember the exact explanation, but it was

something like the remnants or the

leftover bits of the infection, the

particles get into the joints, and then

your immune system reacts to these bits

and starts inflaming the joints. So I had

that for nearly 2 years, even after the

whole thing was over. I was still getting

joint pains in my hips for about 2 years.

Last time I felt joint pains like that was

ages ago now, so luckily, thankfully,

it wasn't a permanent thing, but it did

last for quite a long time, which was kind

of scary. I came back home to

England after the relationship failed,

and I was still limping around, and I had

to explain to my dad why I was limping

around. I was kind of embarrassed because

I didn't really want to tell him that I

got chlamydia. Anyway, after we got

diagnosed with chlamydia,

you know, I started thinking about

how I got it, and I guess I made her angry

by accusing her of giving it to me,

because technically she did give it to me.

I didn't just get it from no one, because

before her, I was kind of like an incel

for about— how many years was it? I think

it was about 3 or 2 years I went without

any relationships. So for about 2 years,

I was having no adult activity. So the

only person I could have gotten it from

was her. And then she later confessed to

me that about 2 weeks before we met,

before I came to Japan to see her, she

went to some kind of nightclub and there

was some white guy, foreigner, that she

hooked up with and they didn't use

protection. So I'm guessing it was from

him. I don't know how many other people he

ended up infecting, but thanks, white

foreigner guy. It's kind of frustrating

because if I had only gone to Japan maybe

a couple weeks earlier, then maybe I could

have met her before she met this white guy

and I could have prevented the whole

thing. And this is one of the reasons why

I don't like waiting around, because I

have this— I have history in the past

where I waited too long for a girl. Um,

this was the first internet Japanese

girlfriend I'm talking about here. I

waited too long saving up money to go and

see her, and she ended up finding a new

boyfriend before I got the chance to go

and meet her. So I guess this is why I'm

kind of impatient, especially now when it

comes to things like seeing Mila again. I

would like to just go to the Netherlands

now and see her again as

soon as I can instead of having to wait

months and months because I have this

history in the past where I got punished

for leaving things too late.

Yeah, the whole chlamydia girlfriend

relationship was kind of a bumpy

experience, not too different to my recent

marriage. It would have been so funny if I

was doing YouTube back then. I wish so

much that I started doing YouTube earlier

because I had so many adventures and so

many wild things happened that would have

been great if I vlogged it. At the time,

but now all I can do is just retell the

stories. I had a lot of arguments with

that girlfriend because I also had this

other problem with my wisdom tooth coming

out, and I was in a lot of pain, and I was

kind of grumpy because I was in so much

pain. And I guess I upset her because I

was moody and grumpy all the time. And

then we had lots of arguments about

different things, and I kept making her

cry really easily by saying insensitive

things, I guess, and being grumpy. She

kicked me out twice. She took me back in

twice as well. And then the third time she

kicked me out, I went to stay in this

guest house in a dormitory, mixed

dormitory with 10 other people in a bunk

bed. That was not a fun time. And then the

last few days she let me come back in to

live with her, and we lived together for

the last few days and I went to Korea and

then I never saw her again. We were

actually going to get married. I know this

sounds completely nuts, but the reason why

I had my birth certificate in my bag all

the time was because, because I had the

birth certificate sent over to me from

England when I was with her because we

were seriously thinking about getting

married and we got all the documents

filled out and everything and I had to go

to Osaka to the immigration center to get

some other documents, but because we kept

fighting and arguing Um, we ended

up not going through with the marriage,

which is a good

thing because thank God I didn't end up

with her. I think it would have been a

nightmare if we were actually in a

relationship. If I actually got married to

her, I think it would have been 10 times

worse than my marriage with Chihiro,

because at least with Chihiro I had

YouTube and I was making money and I had

things to do. But back in 2014, I didn't

have anything. Any way of making money.

Back then I had to rely on things like the

job center to get money. So if I got

married back then, I would have had to get

a job in some kind of shop, and I would

have been really depressed having to work

in a shop. And then we would have just

argued all the time, and I probably would

have had hardly any money. I feel kind of

bad because after I left her and went to

Korea, I think she was kind of expecting

that maybe we would still be together and

I would come back to Japan. Because she

sent me this big long email when I was in

Korea explaining things and apologizing

to me and saying that she

liked being with me. And I didn't even

reply to her email. I just kind of read it

and then closed it, and then I didn't

reply. And the reason why I didn't reply

was because I didn't want to be with her

anymore. I didn't want to go back to Japan

and be with her because we had so many

arguments and it was such a stressful

relationship. Even though I felt really

attracted to her and she smelled great, I

just couldn't see myself being with her

long-term, and I actually wanted to just

go back home to England. I wanted to go

back home to England and buy a nice

computer and play video games and spend my

money on things like cameras I guess I was

kind of tired of being in a relationship

after being with her. It was kind of

mentally draining being with her,

and I stayed single all the way up

until 2017. Yeah,

2015-16 I

was single, and then 2017

I finally got the single mother

girlfriend. So in between the

chlamydia girlfriend and the single mother

girlfriend, I didn't have any other

girlfriends. I was just going backwards

and forwards between Japan and Korea, and

I used to live with my ex-Korean

girlfriend when I was in Korea, but we

weren't really together. It was like a

friends with benefits kind of situation,

so I don't really count her as a

girlfriend between chlamydia girlfriend

and single mother girlfriend. I'm not

really sure what happened to the chlamydia

girlfriend. I'm actually very interested.

She must be about 40 now. Wow, she was

31 at the time, or 32, and I must have

been 24,

25. So 7 or 6 or 7 years later, she must

be nearly 40. She's probably the same age

as my ex-wife, actually. Why are all my

exes so old? Even the single mother

girlfriend, she must be like 42 now.

This is why people think I prefer older

women when I don't. Last time I

saw anything about the chlamydia

girlfriend was, I think it was about 2016,

because I was using this website called

lang8s.com, which is kind of like a

language learning website where you write

a diary. You write a diary

in the language you're learning and then

native speakers correct your diary entry.

And just by chance— I can't believe this

happened— but just by chance,

I clicked on some Japanese person's diary

entry, and then in the comment section,

in the replies, I saw her face. It was

her. There was a picture of her, and I

clicked on it, said her name, and she had

written some diaries in English because

she was studying English. And I messaged

her. I said, hey, do you remember me? We

used to be in a relationship together.

How have you been? And she instantly

blocked me straight away, didn't even

reply to me. And I carried on following

her profile to see what she was going to

write next. She wrote a few more entries,

something about memories in a guest house,

and she just talked about the time when

she was in that guest house with me. But

she didn't even talk about me. She didn't

even make an entry about me. So I guess

she just wanted to forget about me.

Didn't even mention me once. I read all of

her diary entries, no mention of me at

all. And I still check her profile page

now and then, but she's been inactive

since 2016. So either she just

stopped using it, or she made a new

account, or something else happened. Her

last entry was kind of depressing. She was

talking about not knowing why,

not having a reason to live anymore, and

running away from her parents' house. So I

guess she moved back in with her parents,

and then she was talking about being

homeless and then living in a nets cafe.

So I hope she's okay. It's a bit worrying.

And also, fun fact number 2, I actually

went back to Oita City when me and my

ex-wife were arguing. I think this was

back in— when was it?

2018, was it?

2 years ago when me and my ex-wife had a

big fight. I got on the bullet train and I

went all the way to Oita and actually went

back to the chlamydia girlfriend's

apartment and I stood outside of it. I

know it sounds kind of creepy, but For

some reason, I just really wanted to go

back there and then walk around all the

places we used to walk around. I actually

broke down in tears at the train station.

I was sitting there outside the train

station on this bench where we used to sit

in front of the water fountain,

and I sat there by myself eating a

cheeseburger, just remembering that about

4 years ago We were sitting here together

thinking about getting married, and now

I'm here by myself. And I just started

crying sitting there. I must have looked

so weird. Anyway, I guess I'll end the

video here. I think I explained

everything. I don't want to go into every

single detail because then the video would

last an hour or 2 hours. I mean, it's

already 20 minutes now, so I think that's

enough for this story.
