What did I get for Christmas

Hey, so Christmas is over. It's 2 AM in

the morning. I'm trying to keep my voice

down so I don't wake people up. I just

wanted to make this quick video to show

you the presents I got. Now,

most of them weren't very interesting, so

how about we start with the most

interesting present first? This is kind of

funny because, look, my sister

got me this.

It's a VR headset for your phone. You put

your phone in here and

then you put it on and you have to

download like, um, virtual reality apps.

And you can also— there are also VR movies

on YouTube. Anyway, It's funny because

I got her the exact same gift. I also

got her a VR headset, but the most funny

thing about it is I also got her this

brand, the exact same brand, Vertoba. I

was, um, I spent ages, uh,

trying to decide which VR headset to get

on Amazon. There must have been like 10 or

20 different companies that made make

these cheap ones for just £20, and she

got me the exact same one I got her. It

was really weird. I mean, what are the

chances of that? It's such a coincidence.

It was so funny when we opened our

presents and it was the exact same thing.

The one I got her was slightly different

because these ones don't have, um,

earphones for sound, but the ones I got

her, they had earphones that come on the

side, and the ones she got me came with

like a little controller, and my one

didn't. So I guess it wasn't exactly the

same, it was slightly different. There's a

tiny spider crawling on top of my phone.

That's really weird.

It looks like this. There's 2 lenses,

and you just slot your phone into

here, and you

can use any size phone, 4 inches to 6

inches, so it works with a big Android

phone, but it can also work with a tiny

iPhone 5, which is pretty good. Anyway,

I was messing around with this for a few

hours. The only problem is It makes me

feel really motion sick. After playing

with it for about 5 minutes, I felt really

sick, like really dizzy. Um,

I tried out the VR roller coaster, which

feels really weird. It feels like you're

moving, but you know, your brain knows

you're not actually moving, but it feels

like you're tricking your brain into

thinking that it's moving. And the result

is it starts to make you feel a bit

nauseous. It makes you feel like you have

a headache, and it's kind of strange. I

also tried out this Wingman VR game,

and there's also this other one where you

fly around space and planets. It's pretty

cool. I want to try out some horror games.

There's a few horror games as well which

look interesting. It was just so strange

how we both got the exact same present for

each other, even down to the same

branding. It was the same company that we

bought it from. Maybe it's because we're

siblings and it's like, I don't know,

maybe we're both attracted to the same

style. I thought this looks really nice,

this black and white design,

and it looks really Kind of like— it has

like a simplistic design which I really

liked. And my sister's boyfriend,

he got me this,

a Nerf gun. It's quite fun, I guess. It

shoots this— it shoots these rubber darts.

It's quite entertaining, I guess. I kept

saying, wouldn't it be funny if you could

make metal ones? That are sharp, like a

pointed— like a dart, like a metal dart

that you could shoot out of it. But that'd

be kind of scary, wouldn't it? It doesn't

really shoot that powerfully. It doesn't

hurt if you shoot yourself in the hand.

It's just like— it just feels like you're

being flicked in the hand, so it's not

really dangerous. But I guess it would

hurt if it went directly into your eye.

It's kind of funny because I used to love

these kinds of guns when I was a little

kid. I used to love them, but now I've

grown up a bit, not so much. It's still

kind of entertaining shooting targets.

Yeah, it was an interesting gift. Okay,

so those were the interesting gifts.

From now on, the rest of the gifts were

kind of boring, to be honest. Let's have a

look. So my sister also got me this book,

How to Think Like Steve Jobs. Number 1,

I don't read books. I'm not interested in

reading. Number 2, I'm not really

interested in Steve Jobs that much.

I don't really know if I'm going to read

this or not. I might read a few pages,

but I'm not sure. The only books I

do like are Star Wars books. The Star Wars

novels I quite enjoyed, and I really

enjoyed the Halo novels. Apart from those,

I don't really do any reading.

This is where it gets even more boring.

My, um, present from my mum.

Yep, underwear. 5 pairs of

boxer shorts. Really boring, I know. She

always gets me the same thing every year—

underwear. And, um,

oh wait, what are these?

Oh, these are socks. These are socks. The

underwear's here. Yeah, she got me Levi

underwear and socks. I wasn't really

excited, I wasn't really over the moon

when I opened that. And my dad, he also

got me a pair of socks, as if I don't

already have hundreds of socks already.

He also got me these for some reason.

They're in German, but German is

pretty much the same as English a lot of

the time. Hand warmer. Um,

I think it's one of those things where you

shake it and then it heats up and it keeps

you warm. There's also this.

I don't really know what that says, so if

there's any German people,

what does Rückenwarmer mean? I'm guessing

Rücken is back You know, like rucksack?

I guess the ruck from rucksack is, um,

German for back. Backsack. Backpack.

I don't know why they're German. But you

put this on your back and it warms you up.

I don't think I'm going to use these

because it's not actually that cold. They

have the same things in Japan, like little

pouches where when you shake it or rub it

together It heats up and it stays warm for

a few hours. Look, he got me even more.

It's like 2 packs of these for your back

and then 2 packs for your hands. It's not

even that cold. I don't know when I'm

going to use it. So that was a bit, um,

I don't know. I don't want to sound

ungrateful, but it just feels like he just

rushed out the house on the last minute to

buy presents because he saw everyone else

was buying presents and He didn't want to

be the, um, the one left out. He didn't

want to be the only one who didn't get

anyone presents, so it felt like he just

rushed out and bought them quickly from a

shop, and I could hear him wrapping them

up. Um, I guess it's

nice. I mean, I could use it sometime,

but it just feels like the kind

of gift you give someone when you have no

idea what to get them. And I feel a bit

sad that my parents don't really know what

I like or what I'm interested in, that

they just give me underwear and socks

every year. They don't— I don't really

feel like they know what my interests

are, what I'm interested in, and that

makes me feel a bit disconnected with my

parents. But I guess that's kind of

common. Most parents don't really

understand what their children are into.

They don't— most parents don't really have

a clue about stuff like video games or

internet stuff or YouTube. I don't know

what I'd get myself if I was looking for

a present for myself. Maybe something like

a Star Wars model kit or like a Star Wars

spaceship figurine or something like that.

Something that relates to something

that I'm interested in rather than just

socks and underwear, which is fine. I can

use those, but it's not really

interesting. Year after year after year,

socks and underwear. It just gets really

boring. Anyway, I shouldn't complain. I

should be grateful. At least they got me

something right. I ended up waking up at

half past No, quarter to 3, which is kind

of late. Everyone was waiting for me,

telling me to get up because they're gonna

start eating. I wasn't really hungry.

When I wake up, I don't really have much

of an appetite.

Most people don't really— aren't really

going to want to eat a full-blown

Christmas lunch right after they've woken

up, right? I wasn't really hungry. I just

had a few pieces of turkey. And that was

it. So I felt like it was a bit of a waste

because I wasn't able to enjoy the food.

And then the rest of the day we spent

opening presents, and then we watched Star

Wars Episode IV, the very first one, just

so we can— so, um, because we're

watching Star Wars tomorrow, Rogue One,

which takes place right before Episode IV,

it kind of made sense to rewatch Episode

IV. So that was kind of fun. We ended up

watching the remastered version, and they

added in so many new things on the

remastered version, like CGI,

and a lot of it looks really bad,

especially Jabba the Hutt. They replaced

the original Jabba the Hutt, which was

done using some kind of gigantic puppet.

They replaced it with this really

bad-looking CGI, and it just looks really

out of place. My dad did come in and

join us watching Star Wars, but he left.

He walked back out after about 10 minutes.

He really hates Star Wars. He doesn't find

it interesting at all. I think he just

sees it as like a childish movie about

spaceships and lightsabers and explosions

and people shooting each other, but I

feel like that's just like on the surface,

but if you look past the explosions and

the fighting, there's so much more to

the Star Wars movies. There's interesting

characters and history

and all these battles and events that

take place outside of the movie but have

an important but are important to the

story in some way. The problem is he

doesn't really know anything about the

Star Wars universe, the characters, apart

from Luke is Darth Vader's son. He doesn't

know any of the history or why people

are fighting each other or why people are

doing this and that. I can— I spend hours

sometimes on the Star Wars Wikipedia,

just looking up random things that don't

even happen in the movies or aren't even

mentioned in the movies. For example, the

Mandalorian Wars or the Great Sith War,

or, um, just reading up on random races

and characters. So I feel like I

get a lot more enjoyment— enjoyment out of

the Star Wars films because I have like

this background knowledge that I get from

reading up on the Star Wars lore and the

history that exists, the story that exists

outside of the movies. Also, a large part

of my childhood was spent playing Star

Wars games like the, um, X-Wing vs. TIE

Fighter space simulator games and the

PlayStation games, and I spent like a year

playing Star Wars Galaxies, and I was

completely addicted to it. I loved it so

much. So little things like the music and

the sounds, like the sounds of lightsabers

or TIE fighters or X-wings, it just

brings back all those childhood memories,

and it makes— gives me goosebumps. It

makes like this feeling of nostalgia

come up and I feel tingly.

But for my dad, he doesn't really know

anything about Star Wars. He just sees it

as a dumb movie with explosions and laser

beams and spaceships, which is kind of sad

because I feel like this— it's so much

more than that. That's just like on the

surface level, explosions and spaceships.

But I feel like the whole Star Wars

universe is just very interesting.

There's like a magical feeling to it, and

there's like this feeling of

mysteriousness that I really, I really

enjoy it. So hopefully tomorrow's movie

will be good. I'm pretty sure I'm going to

enjoy it. Um, yeah, I think I'll end the
