Korean Spicy Sausage Stew

So we have some sausages,

vacuum sealed.

Green onions. Are these baked beans?

Look at this, baked beans!

That's so random. There's hardly any,

there's like 20 of them. Baked beans

in a plastic bag. Kimchi in a plastic

bag. Oh look, there's ramen as

well. This should be a fairly

good meal. Sauce.

And finally— what

the hell is this?

Do I cook it in this container? This is

kind of strange. How do I make this?

Hmm. So according to the instructions, I

put everything into a pot and then turn on

the fire.

Oh no, dropped it everywhere. So what goes

in next? Why are there 2

different packets of sauce?

Oh, it's white. I thought it was going to

be black. It looks like milk.

It smells like milk as well. What is this?

Doesn't even say what this is.

I don't know if I was supposed to do that.

So this is going to make it spicy.

What's next? Um,

do I cook the ramen first or do I cook it

all together?

It's a bit annoying cooking here because I

have to hold on to this knob. If I let go,

watch, the fire goes out.

So I have to stand here holding it.

Hmm, I'm supposed to be meeting this girl

later today, 5 PM. Korean girl,

23, and I'm

feeling a bit nervous about it.

Kind of hoping that she cancels on me so I

don't have to go. I do want to go. She

looks nice, she looks cute. And she seems

friendly. It's just that I think recently

I've noticed something about myself that's

knocked my confidence a bit.

Um, I find it very difficult to care about

people or to feel interested in people.

Well, I guess I've always known this. I

made a video about it years ago,

but I think that's the main problem I have

when I'm meeting girls and going on dates.

I don't really think the way I look is the

main issue. Okay, I don't look,

you know, like a 10 out of 10 handsome

boy, but I get matches on dating apps.

The problem is when I go and meet them,

it's always really awkward because I don't

know what to say. I don't know what to

talk to them about. And then people keep

saying, oh, you have to ask them

questions. Problem is I don't really care

about Finding out about them.

It's tricky. I don't know what to ask

them. I can ask them what they do for a

living, what they do on the weekend, but

it's always the same answer. Oh, I go to

work. I work in a hotel. I work in an

office. I hang out with my friends.

No one ever says anything that's

interesting, so I'm just asking questions.

Already knowing the answer is probably not

going to be interesting. The main thing I

worry about when I go to meet a girl is

she'll realize that I'm not really

interested in her as a person. And I think

for women, that's the most important

thing. They want to feel like the guy is

interested in them for who they are as a

person and their personality, not because

of what they look like or because the guy

thinks she's cute. I'm pretty sure if I

told a girl that I'm only interested in

seeing her because I find her physically

attractive, I'm pretty sure that would be

a big turn-off. So I said to this girl

that I'm meeting today, I tried a

different tactic, and instead of saying

anything about her looks, I tried the

whole, oh, I want to get to know you as a

person tactic, and it worked really well.

I said to her, I'm interested in you as a

person. I want to meet up so we can talk

and I can find out about you. And she was

really happy with this answer, you know,

she sent me lots of smiley emojis and she

said, I want that too, let's meet up.

But now I have to go and meet her and

actually follow up and make it seem like

I'm interested in her as a person. I don't

know who she is, maybe she's interesting

as a person, but from past experience,

9 times out of 10, people just aren't very

interesting to me.

Okay, so I guess we just put the kimchi

straight on top. I'm not

sure about the baked beans. Never had

baked beans with ramen before. It seems

kind of weird.

Do you just squeeze them out?

It's interesting Korean people eat baked

beans. In Japan, um, baked beans aren't

really a thing.

My wife served me baked beans once cold.

She just poured them out into a bowl. I

had to tell her you're supposed to heat

them up. She didn't know.

So this is Korean army stew, spicy sausage

stew. It's like the ultimate

meal of processed junk food.

Well, there's some vegetables in it.

Where are my chopsticks? Uh, what was I

talking about? Oh yeah, having

difficulties feeling interested in people.

Don't know why I'm so worried about it all

of a sudden. I guess it's because I had

this conversation with someone and they

pointed it out to me, saying that that

it's sad and weird that I don't feel

interested in other people. I can't help

it. I can't force myself to feel

interested in things if I don't find it

interesting. If I could choose to,

I would love to be able to be fascinated

with people, and I would love to be able

to ask them loads of questions, and then

they would have a really good time with me

and they would like me, and maybe We would

sleep together. It's so difficult getting

girls to like you when you can't do the

one thing that girls want you to do,

which is show an interest in their

personality. I can show an interest in

their bodies and what they look like. I

love female bodies, they're very pretty,

but women don't Don't want you to be

obsessed with their looks, I guess. How am

I supposed to eat this? Hopefully this

date goes well. I don't really have high

I just hope it's not too awkward. I hate

when you meet people and you have no idea

what to say and you've already asked basic

things like, what do you do for a living?

Do you like traveling? Where have you

traveled to? What did you think of Hong

Kong? Or wherever.

After that, I get stuck. I start asking

stupid questions like, do you have any

brothers or sisters? Do you live with your

parents? I feel like I'm interrogating

them or something. These questions aren't

good, and I don't really feel comfortable

or confident asking them really personal

things. I don't think they even care.

As long as they're normal, nice people, I

don't really care too much about their

deep opinions on things.

It doesn't really affect me,

so I don't see the point in asking. But

then we can't just sit there in silence.

Oh, why is it so difficult just talking to

people? I can talk about myself, that's

not a problem. I can go on and on and on

for hours and hours about myself, but I

don't think they would enjoy that.

I used to do that before. Oh,

spicy.

I used to just talk and talk about myself

before with other women.

For example, the single mother girlfriend,

single mother Japanese girlfriend. We used

to talk for hours and hours. And I was

just talking about myself and what I was

interested in, and she probably couldn't

care less, and it was probably pretty

boring for her to listen to me go on about

YouTube and Star Wars.

But I didn't know what else to do because

if I didn't talk about myself, she

wouldn't say anything,

because I feel lonely and I want to meet

people and I want to connect with people.

I also want physical contact,

but then I also feel really bored with

people at the same time, and I don't

really enjoy Talking

and talking to people and asking questions

and finding out about them.

I kind of want a meaningful relationship

with someone, but then takes so much

effort. To make that happen.

Oh, I don't know, I just feel so confused

about what I want sometimes.

Why can't things be easy? I'm not

completely uninterested in people. I'm

interested in fictional characters like

you know, Star Wars characters or Game of

Thrones characters. I'm interested in

their backstory and what's going to happen

to them. But that's easy because you just

watch it and you find out about who they

are. You don't have to ask them questions.

In real life, you can't just watch people

and then find out about them. I guess

that's the great thing about YouTube. You

can find out about all these different

kinds of people just by watching their

videos, and you don't have to talk to them

or ask them questions.

But in real life, people— well,

some people might, but most people don't

just start telling you about themselves

unless you ask them.

I feel more comfortable with people when

they do just start telling me stuff

without me asking them. Just makes it

easier.

I like meeting people that either ask me

lots of questions or They just talk

without me having to ask them anything.

I hate it when you meet someone and they,

they don't really say much and they're

waiting for you to say stuff,

and then I'm desperately trying to think

of something interesting to say or to ask

them, and I just can't think of anything.

My mind goes blank. It's It's just

a nightmare.

I don't know why I'm like this. Do you

think it's because of my parents? My mum

just constantly talks. She never shuts up.

Sometimes I don't even think she realizes

or cares if people are listening or not.

She'll just go on and on. On and on and on

And then my dad was the, was the opposite.

He wouldn't really say much unless you ask

him something.

So if me and my dad were together, we

would just be in silence most time because

I would never ask him anything.

And he didn't really ask me things. If I

was with my mum, it starts getting

annoying because she's so talkative and

she never shuts up.

There was no balance between them. It was

like 2, 2 ends of

each end. What is the extremes of

either end, if you know what I mean?

Oh, I booked my new Airbnb. I have to move

out tomorrow. In the end, I decided to get

this really cheap Airbnb. It's actually

the cheapest one here, $500 for a

month. It looks okay. It's a bit small,

but I don't really care. I just sit on the

bed staring at my phone all day anyway. I

don't need a big place. Has everything you

need. Has a kitchen, washing machine,

shower, toilet. As long as it has Wi-Fi

and a hot shower, then it's fine.
