Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs iPhone 15 Pro Max

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So

today we're going to be comparing Apple

and Samsung's most expensive phones that

are available on the market right now,

the Z Fold 6 versus the Apple iPhone 15

Pro Max. Now these are very expensive

phones. This one costs about £1,800 brand

new for the base model. I personally paid

£1,500 whilst trading in my previous

phone. And iPhone 15 Pro Max comes in

around £1,200 for the base model,

256GB. So they are quite expensive

phones. But what do you get for that

money? Well, basically you get the most

powerful flagships, specs, and cameras,

and we're going to be comparing the 2

phones in today's video. So as you can

imagine, these are very high-end devices

with Pro chips in both of them. So the

Fold 6 has the Snapdragon 8 Generation 3,

whilst the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the

newest A17 Pro chip from Apple. And

they're very capable devices. Both of them

are basically around the same when you do

benchmark tests. The main difference, as

you can imagine, is the Fold 6 can fold

open and reveal feel this really nice

display, 120Hz display on the inner screen

and also the outer screen. And also the

iPhone 15 Pro Max also boasts a 120Hz

screen, so they both have very good

displays and very good in design quality.

The build of the Samsung Fold 6 has this

very nice square kind of boxy feel to it,

whereas the 15 Pro Max has more of a

rounded corner design. So it depends on

you which one you prefer the most. And you

might be thinking the Fold 6 is very

expensive compared to the iPhone 15 Pro

Max, And yeah, it is true, this is £600

more expensive, but you kind of have to

think of it in the way that you're not

just getting one device. So this would

count as one device. Look, you've got a

normal size phone. It's a bit narrow and

slim compared to a normal form factor

phone, but it's basically like a phone.

And then you've got the second device

where it opens out into a nice

big display where it's kind of like a mini

tablet. It's basically like a tablet. You

use it like a tablet, two-handed like

that. It's great for viewing YouTube

videos and any kind of media consumption.

And also gaming on this thing is amazing

if you pair it with one of these wireless

controllers like this and you do some

gaming on it. The biggest screen, it just

blows the iPhone 15 Pro Max out of the

water. The iPhone 15 Pro Max does also

have quite a big screen. It's around the

same size as this, but obviously much

wider because it's a normal form factor

phone. But it just does not have a screen

that's as huge as this because this is

just massive, and it's great for gaming

and doing all kinds of media consumption.

So if you want a device for media

consumption mainly, then this is the phone

to go for. You can't really beat the big

display on this foldable, it's just

gigantic. The gaming performance on the

Fold Z6 is absolutely incredible. So I'm

playing the new Call of Duty Warzone

mobile version, which is really

impressive. The game is basically

identical to the PC version. I played the

PC version of Warzone, I think it's

Warzone 2, around last year, and I don't

really see any difference between this

mobile version and the PC version.

Everything that's in the PC version is in

the mobile version, like parachuting down

to the island, looting gear, the circle

you got to escape from. It just really

feels great. I can't believe this is a

mobile phone game. Mobile phone gaming has

really come a long way. But anyway, the

Fold 6 plays this game absolutely

amazingly, really smooth, buttery smooth,

and coupled with a controller, it really

does feel like console-grade gaming on

your phone. I was getting about 50 frames

per second, sometimes 55 frames per

second, usually whilst playing this game,

and it just runs like a dream. It's great,

great gaming experience on the Fold 6.

Now as for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, yes,

it's also going to be good for games.

Apple's Metal gaming graphic chip is

really good and it can play some great

console games. Yeah, I guess compared to

the Fold 6 it might have better

performance, but the Fold 6 has the bigger

screen. So if you want bigger screen and

less performance versus slightly better

performance but much smaller screen, I'd

much rather go for the bigger screen every

day of time. So next, let's talk about the

camera systems on the 2 devices. I think

the iPhone 15 Pro Max is probably going to

have the better camera system because

that's Apple's latest and greatest major

main flagship, whereas the Fold 6 is not

really Samsung's major main flagship.

That'll be the S24 Ultra and then replaced

by the S25 Ultra, which I think— or

believe— I think it should be coming out

this year. I'm not sure, but the Fold 6

camera system is not really the latest and

greatest. It's actually the same camera

system in the previous Fold 5, which is a

little bit disappointing that you're

paying so much money and you're not

getting the latest and greatest of the

camera specs. So as for the camera specs

with the 2 phones, they're basically the

same. You've got a 50-megapixel main

shooter, you've got 12-megapixel

ultra-wide and telephoto on both of the

phones. And for the selfie cameras,

you've got a 12-megapixel selfie camera on

the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and you've got

10-megapixel and a 4-megapixel— 2 selfie

cameras on the outer screen and the inner

screen of the Fold 6. So the camera specs

are basically identical. I guess the Pro

15 Max is going to have a better zoom

because it's got 5x periscope zoom,

whereas this only has a 3x zoom. I don't

think it's periscope, but it's not a very

good zoom. I mean, the lens for the zoom

lens on the Fold 6 is kind of grainy and

dark when it's low light. In highlight or

daylight with lots of light, it's pretty

good quality, it's good enough. But when

it gets kind of dark, it gets very grainy,

and I would not use it. One trick you can

do on the Fold 6 that you cannot do on the

iPhone 15 Pro Max is you can use the outer

cameras as a selfie camera because you can

use the foldable screen and use the

external screen as a preview display. So

I'm using the main cameras and you can see

the preview on this side, so I could just

flip it around on myself and I can take

like a very high quality selfie like,

like that. So yeah, I can use the main

camera systems, take high quality selfies

or selfie videos instead of using the

actual selfie camera. So that's one cool

trick As you can see, it's one cool

trick the Fold 6 can only do. So which one

should you buy? Should you buy the Fold 6

or the iPhone 15 Pro Max? Well, they're

basically around the same price points,

with the Fold 6 coming in a bit more

expensive. I guess it really depends on

which one is more important to you. Do you

want better cameras with a better zoom but

a smaller screen and a more pocketable

phone that's slimmer and slightly cheaper

with iPhone's and Apple's latest iPhone

tech and hardware and software? Oh my God,

and he drops it. Or do you want a bigger

screen, a bigger display with the foldable

phone, but you sacrifice having the latest

camera tech? The cameras in this, don't

get me wrong, they're still really good

and you can take some amazing photos and

videos, but it's not going to be the

latest and greatest. So you have to

choose, do you want a bigger screen but

slightly lower tech cameras, or do you

want the best in tech cameras but slightly

smaller screen, that's going to have to be

up to you to decide that because I can't

decide everything for you. I'm not your

mum. And then lastly but not leastly, we

can do a benchmark test for the Fold 6.

As you can see, we've got Android 14, got

ARMv8, we've got 4 clusters with a 2-core

at 2.27 GHz, 2 cores at 2.96 GHz,

3 cores, and then a 1-core at 3.40 GHz.

So as you can see, we've got loads of

cores and we're just going to run a CPU

benchmark. So that's going to take a few

minutes, we'll just let that cook. And

whilst we're waiting for the CPU test to

be processed, we can actually use the

multi-screen pop-up thing like this. And

I've actually screenshotted the results

for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it came in

at— in at 2893 for single-core, 7179 for

multi-core, and a whopping 26,964,

27,000 for its

GPU Metal score. So that's pretty

impressive. And we're at 12% on the CPU

test. That's going to take a while. Okay,

so CPU test finished. We got a score of

21,586,609, which is roughly around

what the iPhone 15 Pro Max got. And I

could do a GPU test, but to be honest, I

can't be bothered. What Is the Geekbench

results for the GPU on the Samsung Fold

6?
