My dreams of being a comedian You know, back then I was actually dreaming of becoming like a comedian. I wanted to be like a comedy channel, and I was really into making jokes, trying to make the videos funny. But then people started hating on me instead of laughing, so I kind of gave up on that. And I thought people would find it funny, but instead they just got mad.

I found it easier To, to make contradictory dumb points that criticize something that people love. I found that easier than coming up with witty jokes because I'm not a very witty person who can come up with jokes very easily. It's just easier to say dumb stuff

this mic into it and then use the GoPro as like an inside stream setup with good mic, plus also be able to take it outside.

kind of stay in these little bubbles. For rich people and try to avoid the slummy areas. But my girlfriend keeps dragging me into the cheap market slum areas, which I hate.

You go around the river parts of Bangkok and it's just like slum where people just walk around half naked, squatting in these wooden huts under the motorways.

And it's just like, poverty, world of poverty everywhere in Bangkok. And the only way to avoid it is if you just stay on the motorways and stay in the super rich shopping centers.

Japan's not like that. Japan doesn't have a slum apart from Nishinari in Osaka. And even the slum in Osaka, is nicer than the majority of Bangkok.

Bangkok's shit when you leave the nice bits. It's just like trash everywhere, ugly buildings that look like they were built 60 years ago, crumbling.

In Japan, everywhere is pristine and modern and clean. You don't see like big, ugly, moldy, dilapidated concrete block buildings, do you? You don't see corrugated metal sheet huts. Japan's just nice. You can go on a nice walk and everything, everything's nice and clean.

Road's not full of 8-lane traffic. You

can go on a nice peaceful evening walk in Japan. We went on an evening walk around the block here And I just felt so miserable. Everywhere looks ugly. The area I live in is ugly, apart from the few really big, nice apartments.

Going for a walk around my neighborhood is horrible. There was like a plot of land with nothing on it but like a tent made out of corrugated metal sheets and barbed wire. Around the fence and trash everywhere. It's just horrible.

And there's all these buildings that look abandoned. It's just concrete blocks and cracked and ugly. It's not nice. There's nowhere nice to walk. If you want to go for a walk, we just go down to the gym area where they've got like a— they've kind of got like a garden area where you can walk up and down.

So you're just stuck in these bubbles where I feel like I'm a prisoner in the apartment complex because why would I want to leave it? Everywhere's so shit outside. I'd have to get a taxi to maybe Benjakitti Park to have somewhere nice to walk or Chatuchak Park.

You go around the streets, it's just— it's horrible.

They can't get their shit together. It's just a complete chaotic mess.

So I don't like going out.

I like going shopping. But then your experience of life in Bangkok is just like, oh, in the shopping mall, in your apartment, in a big park. That's it.

It's just so different to Japan.

Japan is like a walker's paradise. You just have a nice walk, even if it's like a neighborhood area. So quiet and peaceful. You got those tiny one, one-lane roads where there's no traffic.

I made pork and vegetable stir fry using yakiniku sauce last night and it tastes so damn good.

It was slightly sweet with a yakiniku savory flavor. I don't mind sweetness, but only if it's like a slightly sweet flavor, not if it's really, really sweet like most Thai dishes are.

I want to make sukiyaki next. I'm really craving— oh wait, sukiyaki is pretty sweet, isn't it? I just contradicted myself saying I hate sweet stuff and now I want the sweet sukiyaki. Sukiyaki is different though. It's got like that Japanese fishy broth taste. Everyone likes sukiyaki with the mushrooms and pork.

It's a different kind of sweetness.

I also want to make a pasta sauce. Might go shopping today.

I contradict myself within 1 minute. That's why my opinion has no credibility, because I literally contradict myself within 10 seconds accidentally. There's no consistency.

I had a double cheeseburger and 3 Kit Kats for lunch yesterday. Is that healthy?

I went to the gym on Sunday. I don't know if that was a good idea. I was feeling okay. I lost my strength a little bit. I could only do 2 reps on the 15 kg.

but I'm scared of losing it if I keep skipping days.

That's the annoying thing about working out. When you get into it, you feel guilty for skipping days. Do I miss driving? Sometimes I do dream about having driving lessons. It's funny. Yeah, kind of.

Having the driving lessons was an interesting experience. I was filled with so much anxiety. You know, every time the lesson started, like half an hour before the lesson started, whilst I was waiting for him to come, I'd be pacing up and down. Trying to,

trying to calm myself. I actually tried doing meditation.

My forearm is huge. Well, I'm just pressing it up against my knee. That's why. See, like that. I'd walk up and down. I'd try meditation like, hmm, like that to try and calm myself. And then I'd like panic. I was so panicky. And I'd be getting in the car. There's so many things you gotta do when you

get in the car.

And then he would be watching you. You can't do things how you want to do. He'll have like this order. It was B, D, B, D, D, D, B, S, S, S, D, M or something. Body,

seatbelt, seat, steering belt. I mean, steering wheel.

Mirrors, and then you're ready. So you get in, you make sure the doors are closed, you make sure the headrest is right, you change the seat so it's the right distance,

and then you press the pedals to make sure you can reach the pedals. And I'd be panicking thinking, wait, I'm not sure if my leg's too far, I can't quite push the clutch down far enough, so I want to get closer. But he'll be saying That looks close enough, but I feel like I've got to really stretch

to press the clutch down. And then I'd be fiddling with the chair and fiddling with the mirrors and you gotta change, because everything is different because everything is set up for him. So when you get in, you gotta change everything again.

So I'd be panicking, trying to make sure I'm doing this all in the right order. I'd do it in a weird messed up order.

And then I've got my seatbelt on, seat's right, the mirror's right, and then I'm ready to go. And then that's when I start panicking. So, okay, so today we're gonna go to Bletchley Avenue and I'm gonna teach you how to do some parallel parking and general driving. So when you're ready— the way they speak Makes me nervous

too. They've got this way of speaking like, so when, when you're ready, um, let's set off. So then I've got to think, okay, what do I do first? Uh, 6-point observation check. Yep. And then

first gear, clutch down, first gear, clutch up a little bit, get biting point. Pulling out my drive was a nightmare because it was like an uphill and you couldn't see anything because of the bushes. So you had to have very delicate clutch control to even pull out my drive. And then you had to like inch forwards into

this country lane. You couldn't see anything until the last minute and then keep looking like that

and then pull out.

And then once we pulled out, I'd be like, oh, okay.

And then we'd have some country lanes and then get onto the main road where I'd feel a bit more relaxed.

But I was so nervous and the steering wheel was just wet from my sweat.

And then he would be getting me to go faster and faster. And then the roundabouts. Oh my God, such a nightmare. Everything. Hated it.

Hated roundabouts.

I couldn't see what was happening on the roundabout until I actually get to the roundabout, but he wanted me to judge whether it was safe or not to go before we get to the roundabout whilst also changing gears down and checking mirrors and indicating. It was too much all at once. I think I can do it now.

I probably need driving lessons again if I was actually serious about it.

Why didn't I film it? No, I didn't want to film it. I was scared he'd find out about my YouTube channel and get upset about it. I don't think he'd be happy if I was uploading it to YouTube because people would judge him. They would judge him as a teacher, wouldn't they?

People don't want to be judged on the internet. People say, oh, he's not a good teacher. He shouted at you. Then he would be like, oh, Daniel, could you take that video down?

I don't think he knew about the YouTube channel. He never mentioned it. But then he never asked me what I did for a living either,

which I thought was weird. Maybe he just thought I was a rich kid.

He might have Googled me. I just think it would have been a very common question for a driving instructor to ask, so what do you do for a living? But he never asked me,

which makes me think maybe he found out And realized that I was embarrassed about it.

But I guess it was kind of fun. Sometimes I did feel relaxed with driving and I felt like I was getting good at it,

but it was very stressful.

I feel like I'm becoming a driving instructor when I drive. With my girlfriend. It is kind of fun though, criticizing someone's driving. It's very easy to backseat drive, but I can pick out so many faults with her driving. Like, she drives too close to the car in front. She hits the brakes too hard. If you see a

red light in the distance, you should start letting go of the accelerator. Start lightly tapping the brakes, but she won't. She'll like accelerate right up into the back of the queue and then slam on the brakes. It's so dumb.

It's so unnecessary. They're not moving. What is the rush to join the back of the queue? Why don't you just roll up to the queue?

Roll up slowly to tap on the brakes gently. She's like, no, brake, and then emergency brake like that. Why? It's so stupid.

I think Thai people just drive pretty aggressively and they don't want to give up the space in front of them to anyone overtaking. But Thai people just overtake all the time.

And aggressively take spots and aggressively defend their spot. They're not considerate drivers at all. You see someone trying to get in front of you. My girlfriend doesn't let them in. She, like, accelerates and blocks them off.

That's not how I was taught to drive. I was taught to be considerate. Let people in if I can.

Thailand driving is just crazy. If you watch Trash Taste, they recently came to Thailand and they were basically complaining about the same stuff, how they got scammed by taxis. How they never indicate. They'll flick the indicators on for like half a second to change lanes.

Defensive driving is just not really a thing here.

Like undertaking in— I think in the UK it's illegal to undertake. Where you overtake someone who's on your right lane. I don't know if this exists in America because you drive on the right, so it'd be your left lane. But if you're on the left lane, that's the normal driving lane, and overtaking is for in the right

lane. You're not supposed to overtake in the left lane. So he kept saying, do not undertake, do not undertake. Didn't know what he meant. Because I kept trying to overtake people who were to my right. But in Thailand they do that all the time. And in Thailand they just drive onto the roundabouts when there's traffic on the

roundabouts, which you're not supposed to do in the

UK. She also just stops on slipways, slip roads joining or getting off the motorway. She'll just stop in it, which you're not supposed to do. She'll stop in the hatched areas where the motorway continues and stops, like goes down a ramp.

So funny.

The scariest thing about driving was, I think, going on that main road

and doing something dangerous and not realizing how dangerous it was. So there were, there were motorbikes overtaking

the traffic that was oncoming towards me. So they were kind of in the middle of the road, of the lanes, nearly coming into my lane. And I wasn't really paying attention and I wasn't moving further to the left to give them space. And the instructor had to like tell me, Daniel, what are you doing? Move left. You

need to give those bikes space. And I had no idea. I was just going to keep driving in my lane, in the middle of my lane. And we're going like 60 miles per hour because it's a single carriageway. That was a little bit scary when I don't realize things that are actually kind of dangerous. I need to

be more aware.

I just kind of zone off. Driving is very comfortable. The dangerous thing about driving is it's really relaxing. You're sitting in this nice chair, just moving along. You don't really realize how fast you're moving because you're in this nice comfy box. And I just kind of zone off. And daydream, start like thinking about other things. I'm like,

hmm, that's really dangerous.

You gotta like snap out of it and do mirror checks and make sure you're aware.

Fastest I ever drove was probably 70 because I did some lessons on the motorway.

The motorway is not too bad because it's just the straight line. But it is scary how sensitive the steering is when you're traveling at 70 miles per hour. Just a slight tap on the steering wheel makes the car go whoo like that. Can you imagine if you just went like that? The thing would flip. You'd die.

Yeah, the instructor had to grab the wheel so many times. I think my first 20 hours of lessons, he was constantly grabbing it. When I was going around roundabouts, he'd just be like, like that all the time, grabbing my steering wheel. It was scary,

but only during roundabouts. It never really happened on roads.

Well, I don't really care about driving anymore. Well, my girlfriend messaged me at 1:11:11. This better not be nagging. I'm kind of scared when she mentions me.

She said, are you awake? Yes. Are you okay?

She doesn't like it when I don't message her.

Are you still able to understand Japanese? Yeah, we watched a movie on Netflix yesterday called The Cube, and I understood pretty much everything. I even learned a few words like prime number is sosu.

I think it's sosu. That's what it sounded like. Let me see what it actually is.

Yeah, Sosu Prime Number. And I found it surprisingly easy to understand apart from when the old man gets angry and starts raging. I find it hard to understand when Japanese people get angry and then they start swearing and stuff. So they start using words I've never really heard before.

I found it kind of easy to understand compared to K-drama.

You notice Japanese people use less words to convey something.

I feel like there's fewer words in Japanese sentences compared to Korean. Korean is like machine gun rapid fire, short syllable words. The Japanese language is, I think it has longer words

with less syllables. Japanese also sounds less whiny than Korean does,

but I found it very easy to understand.

Apart from when they were doing like mathematic equations with X, Y, Z axis. Axes, trying to figure out how to escape the cube. That got kind of confusing. I

picked up a few words, like apparently edge is hashi, which I never really used before. They said the edge of the cube, so they kept saying hashi.

It's also tanmatsu. Tan is, uh, the same kanji. I think that's the one.

So yeah, I guess hashi is edge as well as chopstick as well as bridge. So if you want to say like, oh, go go from the edge, be like hashikara, hashimade. I guess it's useful.

Also, I think people's knowledge about Pearl Harbor is completely wrong too. People think America was the victim and they didn't do anything and they were just attacked by the Japanese in Pearl Harbor unprovoked. That's not really true. So the Japanese had to import nearly all of their oil to fuel their empire. And a lot of the oil

was coming from America and American allies. And America basically got the allies and they also got themselves to stop sending oil to Japan. So Japan didn't really have any choice. Japan didn't want to fight America. But then America acted like a bitch and then said, oh, no more oil for you.

So they goaded Japan into attacking so then America can be like, oh, they attacked us. We didn't do anything. And then everyone go, well, you go and fuck them up, America. You're the man. They started it. That's what America— America is very good at that. Like making themselves look like the victim and then make themselves look like

the hero.

America didn't even want to fight the Germans, but then America— Germany kept sinking American ships with U-boats.

I think it was a mistake. Japan shouldn't have attacked America. They should have just attacked the UK colonies in Asia and stole their oil.

But World War I is a complete shitshow too,

because the Central Powers were like Germany, Russia, The Ottoman Empire. But then Russia fell apart from within during the war, had that revolution, and then Leningrad took power

and then pulled out of the war. And then the Ottoman Empire also collapsed. So it was just Germany left fighting the Allies alone.

But I feel like maybe we were the bad guys in World War I as well. Because Germany only stepped in to defend their little buddy, Turkey, was it? Austria-Turkey was like a joint empire at the time. And then they had that Franz Ferdinand Duke guy assassinated in Serbia. Actually, I don't know. Austria-Turkey were being kind of a

dick to Serbia. Because after the Duke got assassinated, they went to Serbia and said, oh, you better give us this and that or else we're going to invade. And it was basically an impossible treaty to agree to. So they were being kind of bullies. And then Germany had to step in to, to back up— no, Germany backed

up Austria-Turkey.

So that means France had to step in to back up Serbia because they were in a contract and the UK got pulled into it as well. The whole thing was weird.

But I think Japan were our allies in World War I. Yeah,

I spent almost all weekend just reading Wikipedia. I got so bored I went all the way back to the Roman Empire. I was trying to read about the Treaty of Versailles and I found this phrase called the Carthaginian Peace. I was like, what the fuck's that? So I click on it. Took me all the way back to

the Carthaginian Empire and how they got destroyed by the Romans. That was interesting. So for nearly 600 years before the Roman Empire was the dominant power in Europe, the Carthaginians were the most powerful empire. And then they clashed with Rome as Rome started to rise in power. And there were 3 wars, the Punic Wars,

and the Carthaginians had a lot of victories in the beginning. They had that famous general Hannibal,

but the Romans ended up overpowering them.

I think it took like 25 years. It was a very long war over 25 years. Eventually Romans ended up knocking on the capital city of Carthage, which is in North Africa, and they demanded they destroy all their weapons and hand over their armor, which they did. And then the Romans then demanded that they burn their city down

and leave, which they didn't. They refused and they made more weapons. And there was a siege. They held out for like 3 years, but eventually the Romans broke in and they burnt the city to the ground. Killed everyone, and then sold the remaining 50,000 survivors off as slaves.

So brutal. They just completely destroyed the city, burned it to the ground. So it's called a Carthaginian Peace because the only way the Carthaginians could get peace was if they basically just destroyed themselves. There's no way to accept that. They might as well just die fighting.

It's interesting.

The ruins are still there of Carthage. I think they're like a few miles east or west from Tunisia.

History is fun. It's kind of useless though, isn't it? You can learn all this stuff, it's not really gonna help you in life.

I just read it for fun.

Because when you understand history, I think you can have a better understanding of what's going on in the world today and why it's happening. And it basically is just the same thing over and over again.

The superpowers try to weaken each other with these proxy wars, and there's all like propaganda trying to explain who's the bad guy, who's the good guy.

Humans never change. It would just be the same thing.

2,000 years ago, you had the Romans and the Carthaginians. They were the top 2 superpowers, and it took them 25 years battle it out.

And then before the Carthaginians, it would have been pre— like the Greek empires. I haven't gone back as far as the Greek stuff yet, but that would be like Sparta, the Egyptians maybe.

Europe has such rich history.

And it's also interesting, the history of that nearing the end of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the, the Middle Ages with all like England and France. It's just funny to think hundreds of years ago before before that, France and England and Germany didn't really exist. It was all just part of the Roman Empire.

So basically France and Germany are just like Germanic tribes that created nations after the Roman Empire collapsed.

I think the problem with the Roman Empire was they started depending too much on Germanic tribes to fight wars for them. There's one Germanic tribe called the Visigoths, and they were demanding a place to live in the empire, and Rome was like, no. No, fuck you. So the Visigoths sacked Rome and then just left.

And then this other Germanic tribe, they were called the Franks and they formed France. So basically French people are German people, or they originated from Germanic tribes.

Sons of the Forest is really relaxing. Just go and chop some wood. Apart from these stupid mutants keep attacking me trying to chop some woods down, they keep hitting me on the back of the head.

So I just chop down some trees, make some zip lines, try and reinforce my base, catch some fish. Do some cooking. It's a fun game. It's like Camping Simulator but with zombies in the forest.

It makes me feel like I'm the Roman Empire. We're trying to make this zipline

building structure up the rivers, and we're trying to push into the forest with our ziplines to make it accessible. And we keep getting attacked and ambushed by stupid mutant things in the forest, and they're like the German barbarians trying to hinder the progress of civilization, trying to civilize this island. The island is so big in Sons of

the Forest. There's no vehicles or anything. The fastest way to get around is by using zip lines, but you got to go and construct the, like, platform that the line goes to. There's no fast travel or anything. Which is fun. I think open world games got ruined with flying and fast travel. And what's the point of having

an open world game if you just fly over it the whole time? But in Sons of the Forest, you actually have to trek through the world and like build stuff. The fact you can build stuff anywhere on the island out of wood, and you can make basically almost any kind of structure you want to. You want to

make a tower, you want to make a bridge, you want to make a cabin or a fortress, you can make anything. You just cut the logs into different sizes. It's got such a good building mechanic.

Open world games like Hogwarts Legacy are boring because you can't interact with the world and place stuff on it.

I think it's fun.

It's kind of like Minecraft, I guess, but with realistic graphics. Minecraft, you could do the same, but Minecraft always felt lame because it's so blocky and basic looking.

Oh my God.

I think the open world in Sons of the Forest is way more interesting than stuff like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy. Open world RPGs, they make a big world and they just put like treasure chests, a cave, a boss. None of them let you build stuff on it. Imagine you could build a house on Elden Ring. That would

be amazing. Being able to build is such an underrated feature.

Sons of the Forest is nothing beautiful. Are you joking? It's such a great looking game. The forest and the mountains and the sunset and the light shining through the trees, the way the trees sway in the wind. I think it looks great, especially when it rains and everything looks all

wet. It's not— I guess you can say it's not artistic because it's just— it looks realistic, like real life, but it doesn't really have an art style.

I think I'd prefer Sons of the Forest if it was more realistic, like instead of weird mutants, maybe just some wild animals like a bear, wolves, some bandits.

They're trying to make it scary with these mutants. Oh, have you seen Dead Island 2 trailer? That looks pretty cool.

The damage you can do on the zombies' bodies is really graphic. I'll probably try that out.

I want to try Grounded. Grounded is similar. So you've been shrunk very small, you've got to survive in the garden and build stuff. It's funny because the British girlfriend I was dating, she was really into that, but I never showed any interest. It looked boring, but I think it's like Sons of the Forest but more of a

cutesy look. That's why I didn't really like it though. I don't like the cutesy look, I like the more realistic grown-up look.

I hope they add stuff like livestock. I'd like to make a little pen of chicken and pigs and harvest them. What else could they add? I wish they made the fighting system a bit better, maybe a shield. The fighting just feels very clunky. They should add stuff like shields, weapon specialization, talent trees.

Should be able to mine the rocks for minerals and make metals. There should be like blacksmith, you could forge your own weapons and stuff. Like in New World.

Why aren't you bored of games yet? Because they keep making new games that are fun.

Sometimes I do feel fed up with gaming and I wish my real life was more interesting, but then some new game comes out and it's just really fun and I get hooked.
