Why I will never move out of my parent's house

For fuck's sake, don't you just hate it

when you're gonna sneeze and then it

doesn't come out? So what are we talking

about? Oh yeah, I get asked this

a lot. Why don't you move out of your

parents' house? How come you're 28 years

old and you still live with your parents?

And the simple answer to that is I don't,

I don't see any point in moving out.

What's the point in moving out? How does

moving out and living by myself benefit

me? How would it benefit my life? In a

positive way. There's, there's no benefits

apart from the fact that I can say, hey

look, I'm independent. I live by myself.

I'm a big boy now. I don't need to rely on

anyone. I can support myself. Apart from

that, what are the benefits of living by

myself? Maybe privacy? I get a lot of

privacy already because my parents aren't

even here most of the time. Look, I have

all the privacy in the world right now

because there's no one here! Haha!

For me, privacy is pretty important,

especially when I want to make videos.

Don't you think I seem kind of different

in today's video compared to the video

where I talked about my new girlfriend?

In that video where I talked about my new

girlfriend, I seemed kind of depressed,

kind of down, kind of low on energy, even

more than usual. And that was because at

that time my sister was in the house, and

because she was in the house, I felt

really self-conscious and nervous, and it

made making the video extremely difficult.

It took me almost 3 hours to make a

6-minute video, and it was really

stressful making that video because there

was someone in the house. But right now

there's no one here, and I feel really

good. I feel great. All that anxiety and

nervousness I was experiencing yesterday

has just completely disappeared. If

privacy became an issue and there was

always someone in the house and I didn't

have any time by myself to make a video or

do the things that I want to do in peace,

then yeah, I would be interested in moving

out and finding a place of my own. But

right now I feel pretty satisfied with the

amount of privacy I get. I think that most

of the people that are teasing me for

living with my parents are American

because I heard that in America it's kind

of like a cultural thing where if you're

over 18 and you're still living with your

parents, then society kind of looks down

on you. They see you as a complete

failure. You're not a proper adult, a

proper man, if you're still having to live

with your parents. But in Europe and

especially in Asia, I don't think that's

what people think. Like, it's very

different, especially in Asia where it's

pretty common and normal for adults to

still be living with with their parents.

Even when people get married and have

kids, sometimes they still live with their

parents. I know that's kind of sad.

Moving out makes absolutely zero financial

sense. I live in a really nice house in

the beautiful countryside. Why would I

want to move out of here into some shitty

little townhouse and then have no money

left over? Because I'd have to pay— I'd

have to spend all my money paying for

rent, paying for food, paying for

everything basically, and I'd have no

money left over to be able to go to Japan.

And if I had to spend the rest of my life

stuck in this country, I think I would go

insane. Some people People might say if

you got your own place, you would have

freedom, you would have privacy, you would

be independent, but I don't see it that

way. If I got my own place, I would have

less freedom because I'd be tied down to

that place. It's kind of like a ship

putting down its anchor. If I put down my

anchor, then I'll be stuck. I'll be stuck

in this country. I'll be stuck in my

apartment or my flat or wherever. I don't

want that to happen. I want to be free. I

want to be able to move around where I

want, when I want, how I want to. Also,

if I lived by myself, I would feel kind of

lonely. I'm not a social person. I don't

have any friends in the UK. The only

people I talk to in real life are my

parents. If you took away my parents,

then I wouldn't have anyone to talk to. I

have plenty of people to talk to over the

internet, for example on YouTube, but it's

not really the same as talking to someone

face-to-face. The only reasons why I would

move out would be if I got a girlfriend in

this country and we decided to move in

together, or if I got married to someone

in Japan and I ended up moving over there

long-term. But apart from that, I don't

really see any reasons to move out. If my

parents were abusive, horrible people,

then I would have moved out a long time

ago, but they're nice people most of the

time. Sure, they argue sometimes like

every other married couple do, and yeah,

that can be irritating, but it's not like

it's every day. Even if I got a really

good job that I could do from home, or if

I won the lottery and became a

billionaire, I'd still be living with my

parents. I might not be here as much

because I would be out there enjoying what

the world has to offer and traveling

around, but I'd still use my parents'

house as a home base to return to between

trips and travels. I'm sure my parents

would like me to move out and become

independent and find my own life, but they

never hassle me about it. They don't ask

me things like, when are you moving out?

Are you going to move out? Can you pay

some money for your upkeep? Sometimes I do

pay for things. For example, I'd buy a big

bag of rice that everyone can use, or I'd

buy some groceries on Amazon Pantry that

the whole family can use. Or sometimes I

help out with the cleaning or I do the

laundry. So to answer the question, when

am I going to move out of my parents'

house? Probably never. Am I satisfied with

that answer? No, because in an ideal

world, I'll meet a girl that I really

like, that I truly love, and we'll move in

together. We'll live together. We'll have

our own lives together. I'm not sure if

that's possible with my current

girlfriend. It's, it's too early to talk

about living together. We haven't even met

yet, so we haven't actually discussed or

talked about those things yet. Also, it's

kind of tricky with her current living

situation because she's She's also living

with her parents because she looks after

them, they need her care, so I'm not sure

if or when it's possible to move in with

her. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hello and welcome to today's edition of

Cooking with Daniel. So as you can see,

today we have some pretty plain, boring,

pre-made ham sandwiches— no, ham and

cheese sandwich— and a really boring

cheese sandwich. Today I'm going to show

you how to— what's the word— re-engineer

these sandwiches into more interesting

sandwiches. So first of all, we're going

to take it apart. It's all stuck together.

It's covered in butter. So try and take

it apart carefully without tearing the

bread to pieces. And then inside of the

sandwich, we're going to put some tomato

and some British Silverside beef.

So to slice the, um, the tomato which is

starting to go mouldy, you'll need a sharp

object. Now I bought this knife to use at

work at the petrol station to cut open the

boxes in the walk-in freezer because it's

so much easier to cut open a tiny hole in

the box and then pour stuff out of the box

rather than take all the boxes down and

then open the boxes and then take the

stuff out and then stack the boxes back

up. So I thought, hey, it's a good idea to

buy this knife and then cut a hole in the

box and then pull stuff out without having

to take the boxes down. But no, my bloody

coworker goes, Daniel, can you please stop

cutting holes in the boxes? And I said,

why? And then he says, because the boxes

are gonna break apart. What the hell are

you talking about? They're not gonna break

apart. They've not broken apart once. So I

just ignored him and I continued cutting

holes into the boxes, and then he just

gave up trying to tell me what to do.

Fuck you, Nepal guy. Okay, so now the

tomatoes are nice and sliced. We're gonna

place them into the sandwich like so.

This would be easier if I just take the

whole chopping board out. Oh shit, now

I've dropped tomato on the fucking floor.

Great. Okay, so after you finish slicing,

then you have to turn on the grill like

that, and then we need to put these onto

the grill. I know this one looks kind of

plain. It's just basically buttered bread

with some tomato.

Put this on here.

This is the only piece that has ham.

And then, and then just close,

close it basically.

And then wait for a few minutes. Whoops,

I pressed the wrong switch.

Do you hear that sound? Do you hear that

sizzling? That's the sound. The sound of

cooking. Masterchef at work.

So whilst we're waiting for the sandwiches

to cook, I thought I'd show you some

photos. Guess who this is? Do you see the

resemblance? I guess not. It's my

grandmother. She died. And this is my mum

when she was very young. And this was my

dad when he was very young. He still kind

of looks the same even to this day.

I think they were maybe 30 years old at

the time. I can't remember. And there's my

cat when he was a little baby, when he

used to have 4 legs. Oh shit, it's

starting to burn. So I think that should

do it. You have to be careful because it

does burn very quickly. Are you hungry?

Do you want feeding? He's so old now.

So, um, yeah, that's how you make a, uh,

sandwich. Grilled sandwich. And then you

have to clean off all this shit on the

grill. Great. More work. No, don't eat my

food. I'm going to get my coffee. So you

better not be eating my food when I'm

gone. Let's see if he eats my food.

He's very well trained.

Where's my coffee? He's gonna eat my food.

I'm gonna spill the coffee. Good cat,

you're not eating my food.
