to a restaurant, then she sends me

meal is like £2 for

like a really nice meal, which would be

about £20 in the UK. She went to the

supermarket and she showed me some reduced

avocado or mango and it was not even a

penny. It was like £0.085,

£0.0085, and it's not even a penny.

is like £200 a month. It's crazy.

I think I can stay for 90 days if I apply

for a tourist visa before going. I can get

a 60-day visa which can be extended to 90

days once I'm there. Sounds interesting.

insanely expensive. I heard rents in

places like New York is $6,000

license in August and next month.

My instructor thinks I should be ready in

August. I had a really good lesson

yesterday. It just went really well. I

felt good about driving the car. I felt

good about going around the roundabouts a

bit better. I can't believe when

I first did roundabouts on the second

lesson, He was grabbing the steering wheel

every time. Like, he was really

dramatically grabbing the steering wheel,

so I must have been doing it so badly.

And it felt so overwhelming. But now he

doesn't grab the steering wheel. I can

change the gears whilst steering

one-handed going around it. But he says

I'm steering too close towards the center

of it. I need to go more out to the left.

So if I can fix that and figure

out if I need to stop or go by looking

what's coming around faster, then I think

I should get roundabouts down pretty well.

But apart from roundabouts, everything

else I feel pretty good about. I can

do junctions and giving way is easy,

and parking in parking bays

is pretty easy. I mean,

that's all driving is, isn't it?

Roundabouts and junctions,

turning left and right, stopping at the

traffic lights, knowing which gear to be

and making sure you're, you're going at

the right speed. Not too slow, not too

fast. Once everything feels

natural, then you get this sense of

feeling that you're actually driving a car

and that you're in control, and it feels

nice. Feels like I'm actually driving

a car without him telling me what to

do every moment. Feels quite, quite good

actually. But Monday wasn't good. I had a

lesson on Monday. And I made so many

mistakes. I didn't realize a pedestrian

was at a crossing. He had to put the

brakes on. But then Wednesday was really

good. Didn't have any big mistakes.

Hopefully next lesson is good too.

I hate it when he has to use his brakes.

I feel like such an idiot.

I can feel my whole face getting red

because it feels really hot.

But every time he tries to talk to me, I

can't talk and drive at the same time. I

stalled it on the way home because he was

asking me about— he asked me if I knew

what kind of car I wanted to buy. So I

started telling him and And then another

car was coming towards us. And then I

didn't put the clutch down and the car

stalled and then completely lost my train

of thought. I can't talk at the same time

for some reason.

And then I was going up this hill really

well with the clutch control and it,

it felt really good because I was slowly

going up the hill like a roller coaster.

But then I felt like I needed to stop

because I couldn't, I couldn't get the car

to stop on the clutch. So I put the hand—

the foot brake down and I thought I

could release the foot brake and quickly

put my foot on the gas and carry on going.

But I was too slow and I lifted the clutch

up too much and the car stalled and it was

a bit scary. It started rolling backwards.

He said I should have put the handbrake on

and then found the biting point. But I

wanted to do that thing where they don't

use the handbrake and they use the

footbrake, and then they quickly go

footbrake back to gas. That's really hard.

So I let— I lift up the clutch too much

and then it stalls and there's no gas.

How long do I plan on streaming? Probably

another 2 hours until

midnight or 1:00.

After getting a car, you should be an Uber

or food delivery driver. To do Uber, it

says you need 3 years of driving

experience. But what if I pass my driving

license and get a driving license, but

then I just waited 3 years but didn't

actually do much driving. How would they

know that I didn't really drive

at all after passing? It just says 3 years

of experience.

I'd rather deliver Amazon packets

or maybe Uber Eats. Doing Uber

seems like you could get in trouble. What

if you got like drunk chav teenage people

vomiting in your backseat or really rude

I don't think I'd be a great taxi driver.

How much longer till you take your test?

Hopefully in August. I'm trying to book a

test, but there's never any available

tests. I booked a test for last Saturday.

But he told me to cancel it because it was

too soon. And then he took me around the

town center and then I realized, yeah,

he's right. It was way too soon. I made so

many mistakes when he took me to the town

center because there's all these one-way,

one-way lanes and the roads were so

confusing because it would go from two-way

into a one-way and then back into a

two-way. And I didn't notice the signs.

And then I didn't realize I had to be in

the right lane of a one-way road to turn

right. It's very

confusing.

But there's been so much, so much traffic

because of Dover. I don't know if you

noticed or if you knew, but all these

British people going to France in their

cars And they

take their cars. I think they they take

the cars onto the ferry or into the

Channel Tunnel to go to France, and

there's been so many people they blocked

up all of Dover ports, and they had to

close down the M20 motorway to deal with

it. So all the traffic is spilling out

onto the A20, which is the road I used to

get to Maidstone, and all the traffic. Is

packed up around Maidstone, and we were in

a traffic jam for like half an hour,

just in the jam, moving forwards really

slowly, 5 miles per hour.

I feel a bit like I'm wasting my money

because I paid this money to do driving

lessons and we're just sitting there in a

traffic jam. It's not cheap. These, these

lessons are starting to cost a lot of

money. It's £280 for 10 hours and

each lesson is 2 hours. So it's 5 lessons

and I'm doing 3 lessons a week. So every 2

weeks I'm paying him £280 for 5 lessons.

I'm going to have to pay him again next

week for another 5 lessons.

It's a lot of money. I've— I

think I've paid £1,000 now for 15

lessons. I've had 13 lessons.

I asked him how much money he pays for,

for diesel. He says he pays £400 a month.

That's like $600 or $500 every

month he pays for diesel. I wonder how

much he gets paid. It's probably like £40K

a year. It must be good money.

But then he's got to pay £400 a month for

diesel. And then what if the student has

an accident? He's probably gotta pay

expensive insurance. Plus the car is a

nice car and it's got dual pedals.

The car's really nice. It's got cruise

control, lane departure warning thing.

It's got Automatic handbrake.

It must be pretty modern,

like a 2020 car. 20— at least 2018

or '19. Yeah, then car maintenance

must cost quite a lot if he's on the road

every day, all day long.

It's really hard to become a driving

instructor. Yeah, I heard they've

got to pass this exam to get an instructor

license and it's really difficult because

you've got to be really aware of what—

you've got to be really aware of what's

around, happening around you and what the

student is doing. And if the student looks

like he's about to make a mistake and

you've got to grab his steering wheel if

he— if it looks like he's going to hit the

curb or something. It must be a really

stressful job. You've got

to be super focused or else your car's

gonna get wrecked and you're gonna be in

an accident. I wouldn't be able to do it.

It would be so stressful.

But then when you get to a point where the

student's pretty good at driving, I guess

it's quite easy to sit back and just give

them a few hints. Mine's on his phone a

lot, actually. I glance to the side and I

see he's looking at his phone and I feel a

bit nervous. Is that— is he actually

making sure that I'm not about to crash

the car? Because I could crash the car

because he's not looking. It feels weird.

I could crash the car just by driving.

I could just go whoosh into the opposite

lane. It's weird having that power.

Not that I would.

I guess it means he trusts me, that I'm

good enough at driving.

I still find it difficult to, to know

where I am on the road.

Because I feel weird. It's hard

to get a sense of where the edges of the

car is and how far to the left or right in

your lane the car is.

What I do is I try and feed the center

road line into the corner of the wind— is

it the— what's the front miracle? I mean,

the front window. The wind mirror? No,

the windscreen. Is that what it's called?

The front window. And you know, it has

that pillar. They call it the A-pillar. I

try and feed the white line into the

corner, and I think that's where I'm

supposed to be.

I still need to get used to it.

It's like you can imagine where your body

is and you're going down the road,

but your body has to be on the left— on

the right side of your lane, and then that

means the car is in the center. It's

really weird.

Could drive in Japan when you pass. Yeah,

I could get an international license. I
