Canon 750d vs canon 600d - which should you buy

Hi guys, in this video we're going to be

comparing the Canon 600D versus the 750D.

The reason why I'm making this video is

because, well, I'm actually thinking of

buying one of these cameras myself and I'm

currently comparing like the different

models, the older models versus the newer

models, Canon versus Nikon, all that, all

that crazy stuff. So let's get into it.

So first we'll start off with pricing.

You can currently get the 600D on Amazon

for £344, which is pretty good,

but the 750D costs an extra £100 at

£444. So let's see what you

get for that extra £100. Number 1, you get

a larger viewfinder. 10% larger

viewfinder. So I don't actually understand

what these numbers mean, but the 750D has

a 0.53x versus

the 600D's 0.51x. So I'm

guessing you get 0.02x extra.

So for some reason that makes it 10%

larger of a viewfinder. Exciting!

More dynamic range. The 750D has 12 EV.

I don't know what EV stands for, versus

600D which has 11.5 EV,

which is one whole extra f-stop of dynamic

range. So dynamic range basically is,

imagine you have a sunny day with a blue

sky and you look at it with your eyes,

your eyeballs, and it looks pretty good,

doesn't it? The sky is blue, the

foreground and the background is pretty

well lit, but if you take a picture with

your camera, you either have a bright

foreground and background and like a

really bright blown-out sky, or if you aim

the camera at the sky, you get a lovely

blue sky, but the foreground, the

buildings, what's on the ground is all

black. It's all in shadow. So the better

dynamic range you have, the closer to the

human eye the image is going to be. At

least that's what I think it is. It might—

I might be wrong, but I don't think I'm

wrong because I I don't know. Anyway, on

to the next one: better image quality.

Well, if it's a later model, then

obviously it's going to have better image

quality, but how much better, you may ask?

The 750D has 71.0

image quality out of 100, I guess, versus

65.0 of the 600D. So that's around 10%

better image quality, apparently. Um, 10%

better image quality, you're not really

gonna notice it to be honest. Much higher—

okay, the next one is much higher true

resolution. 750D has 24 megapixels versus

17.9 megapixels of the 600D,

and that lets you capture 30% more detail

in your photos. But you're not really

going to find this useful unless you like

to crop into your photos a lot, or if you

like to print out really big printouts of

your photos, like posters, huge, huge

massive posters, which I'm guessing most

people don't do. So the difference between

24 megapixels and 17.9 megapixels is, is

barely noticeable. The next one is lower

noise at high ISO. The 750D

has an ISO rating of 919

versus 793 of the 600D.

So the 750D has a slight edge of 0.2

f-stops in low noise, so it's

gonna be better at higher ISO than

the 600D, which is kind of obvious because

it's a newer camera. So yeah, it's going

to be slightly less grainy when using

higher ISO. Okay, so the next one is

touchscreen. I don't really care about

touchscreens. I don't know why they bother

putting touchscreens onto cameras. I think

they're just trying to, trying to make it

feel like a smartphone, but I don't like

using a touchscreen on the camera. I'd

rather use the physical buttons because I

don't want to get finger oils and

fingerprints on the screen all the time.

So I don't really care about touchscreen.

Better color depth: 22.7 bits versus 22.1

bits distinguishes 0.6 more bits of color.

I have no idea what that means, but it

sounds really, really unimpressive. Now

this is where it gets interesting— many

more cross-type focus points. The 750D has

19 cross-type focus points, and the 600D

only has 1. Now cross-type focus points

are different to normal focus points

because, well, I guess they're cross-type,

aren't they? I don't really know, I don't

really understand how it's different, but

the better for some reason. So you get,

you get 19 versus 1, so the 750D

is going to have so much better autofocus.

It's going to be so much faster, so much

more accurate than the 600D. So yeah,

if you're doing video stuff like that,

having a good reliable autofocus is really

important. On to the next one, better

maximum light sensitivity,

25,600 ISO.

Capability for the 750D compared to the

6400 ISO for the 600D.

So you can go all the way up to 25,600 ISO

on the 750D, which is huge. It is so much

brighter at that ISO level compared to

6400 ISO. It says 4 f-stops better,

but I don't really see myself using such

a high ISO because it's just going to be

so grainy It's going to have so much noise

and I don't really think it's necessary.

Shoots faster, 5 FPS versus 3.7 FPS,

40% faster continuous shooting. Now this

is only important if you're taking

fast-moving pictures of fast-moving

subjects like sports or birds,

racing cars. I'm not really into that

stuff so it's not really important for me,

the FPS. More focus points. The 750D

has 19 focus points versus 9 focus points

of the 600D, so you get a lot more focus

points, a lot more cross-type focus

points. So yeah, in general, the 750D is

going to be a lot faster for autofocus,

which is, which is probably the main

reason I would choose the 750D over the

600D. And then we have like the size

and weight. It's not really much thinner,

it's pretty much the same. Weight is

pretty much the same, and yeah,

lightness, which I guess is the same as

weight, is also pretty much the same. So

if you're considering getting the 750D,

the reasons why you'd spend the extra £100

over the 600D would be the faster

autofocus and the better ISO,

uh, I guess you would get it if you want

more megapixels, 24 megapixels versus 18,

but for me the most important bit would be

the autofocus. So yeah, in my opinion it

is worth spending the extra £100 for the

extra features. The image quality probably

isn't that much better. It was— it's

definitely better, but it's not going to

be like really, really, really noticeable.

The main thing that would be really

different would be the autofocus. I can

imagine it would just be so much faster

than the 600D. So that was the 750D versus

the 600D specifications comparison.
