My problem with my wife’s friends

You may have noticed that my last video

has had quite a few changes to it. I've

had to change the title several times, I

changed the thumbnail several times, and

there's random blurring in the video. So

for those of you who haven't seen the

video, let me quickly explain what

happened. On Sunday, me and my wife

decided to go to Kyoto, to a nice place in

Kyoto. We went to a mountain, nice shrine

temple, Japanese-y looking place,

mountain, and 2 of her friends came with

us. And obviously I vlogged the whole

thing because it was interesting. And as

you can imagine, I was a bit worried about

filming her friends because I know some

people don't like being filmed, some

people don't want to be on YouTube. So the

plan was I was just going to film them

anyway, and then when we get back home, I

would edit out their faces or crop it in

so you can't see their faces, or just blur

out their faces. That was my initial plan.

And as we were saying goodbye to her

friends, her friends said to me that they

didn't mind being in the video and that I

didn't have to edit out their faces. I

didn't have to blur out their faces. They

said they were perfectly okay with being

in the video and having their faces

visible. So I thought, great, I don't have

to edit it. I can use their faces in the

thumbnail for extra views. What a great

day. So I finished editing the video. By

the way, I stayed up until 2 AM trying to

finish editing the video and choosing a

thumbnail, choosing a title. Finally

uploaded it at around 2 AM, went to bed,

woke up the next day, did a livestream on

Twitch, and then some— sometime around the

afternoon, I started getting messages from

my wife saying that her friends messaged

her and they weren't happy about being in

the video anymore. They said

that they weren't happy with the way they

were portrayed in the video, and they

weren't happy with some of the comments.

They didn't feel comfortable with what

some of the people in the comment section

were saying about them. I've deleted those

comments now, and if you know what I'm

talking about, please, please don't write

the same word in the comment section

because I've added it to my blacklist now,

and I will be removing people— I will be

removing comments with that word in it.

And they also said that they felt like

their privacy had been violated and they

weren't comfortable with being in the

video anymore. And they wanted me to take

down the video or blur them out and get

rid of the comments. So I've done that.

I've deleted the comments, I've blurred

out their faces in the video, changed the

thumbnail, changed the title. So hopefully

that should be fine and I won't have to

remove the video entirely. Honestly

speaking, yes, it was a little bit

annoying getting permission to do

something and then they changed their

mind, and then I had to change the video

and edit it again. I personally don't

think I've done anything wrong. I didn't

say anything bad or horrible about them.

I didn't say anything weird about them. I

don't think that I should be held

responsible for what people say in the

comments section. If people are going to

say rude things in the comments section,

that's That's their decision. It's nothing

to do with me. And this seems to be a

problem that I'm having with my wife's

friends, and I don't think it's a good

idea to meet my wife's friends anymore.

This happened before, last week when I was

doing a livestream. I was livestreaming

outside, walking around, and then my wife

stream sniped me. She found out where I

was, she snuck up on me from behind, and

she was with her friend. And I thought,

well, her friend's with her, they both

know I'm livestreaming, it must be okay to

film her friend. And I pointed the camera

towards her friend and I showed everyone

her friend. And guess what happened? The

next day, this friend also messaged my

wife because she was unhappy about being

in my livestream, about having her face

shown in the livestream. And guess what?

She was also unhappy with the things

people were saying in the chat, something

about a threesome or about Daniel having 2

wives. She wasn't happy about that and she

wanted me to take down the livestream,

which I have done. She was unhappy about

being in the livestream because she was

worried that someone she knows from work

might find out about it and then she might

get into trouble at work, which doesn't

make any sense to me. Why would you get in

trouble at work just for appearing in a

livestream on someone's YouTube channel?

It's not like we were doing anything

illegal. We weren't making some kind of

naughty adult film. We were just doing a

livestream, walking around talking.

There's nothing weird or wrong about that,

but for some reason there's certain people

who are very against the idea of, of

having their faces or their identities

revealed on the internet, which I find

very strange. And this was basically the

same problem that the 2 friends from

Sunday had. They weren't happy with their

identities being revealed on the channel

after seeing the feedback and the comments

people were making about them. And as

someone who doesn't really care about

privacy and what other thing— what other

people think of me, I find it very strange

when I encounter these people who do care

a lot about privacy. I find it very

strange why they're so worried about

people seeing their faces on the internet,

but they're perfectly okay with going

outside in public with their faces

completely visible unless they're wearing

a mask. Unless you're wearing a mask,

everyone's going to see your face when you

go outside. You must pass hundreds of

people on the street just by going to

work. They can all, all see your face,

but how come you don't care about them

seeing your face in real life, but then

these people are so worried about their

faces being seen on a YouTube video? It

doesn't make any sense to me. It's like

completely contradictory statements.

I'm okay with my face being seen in

public, but I don't want my face to be

seen on the internet. I get the feeling

that most people get way too paranoid

and they overreact about having their

identities revealed on the internet, even

if it's just their face. Even though no

one knows who they are, or they don't know

their names or where they live or anything

apart from their face, they get paranoid

and they start worrying about what would

happen if people find out I'm on this

YouTube channel. Let me tell you,

absolutely nothing is going to happen.

There's a 0.0005% chance of anything

happening to you. I don't know this 100%

for sure, but I can safely guarantee you

that you can be on my YouTube channel and

there will be zero consequences. There

will be no impact on your real life. I can

guarantee it. And the reason why I'm so

confident is because I have my own life as

my own personal example. I've been on

YouTube revealing my identity and showing

my face for years, and nothing's happened.

Nothing has happened to me in real life.

There have been absolutely zero negative

consequences because of my channel.

I've even had my address doxxed. I've had

my address revealed and shared around on

the internet for about 2 years. All of my

addresses apart from this place so far

have been doxxed. Okay, I doxxed myself

accidentally, that's my fault, I admit.

But people have known where I lived and no

one came to my house, no one smashed my

windows. The only thing that happened was

someone sent an HIV test kit and then

someone else ordered me a curry.

Oh no, please don't order me any more

curries. I'm so scared I'm gonna delete my

channel. These people, what are they so

afraid of? They're so scared about what

people might think of them, or if their

family or friends in real life will find

out that they appeared on my channel and

then they might think negatively of them,

which they probably won't. They probably

won't even care. It just made me realize

that people in general are so scared about

what other people might think of them.

They're so shackled by society that they,

they don't even want their faces shown on

a YouTube channel. Can you imagine being

so afraid of what society might think of

you that you get upset just by being

filmed and having thousands of people see

you on someone else's YouTube channel? It

doesn't make any sense to me. Why do you

care? No one's going to try and track you

down. No one's going to hack your personal

information. No one's going to try and

kidnap you. You're not some kind of

high-level superficial intendant of the

government who is really important.

There's 7 billion people on this planet.

When a couple thousand of them see your

face on one YouTube video, it's not going

to do anything. There's going to be zero

impact on your personal life.

These couple thousand people who may see

you on YouTube, they're not going to have

anything to do with you. You're never

going to meet them. There's, there's a

higher chance of you winning the lottery

than there is of you meeting these couple

thousand people out of 7 billion people on

this planet. And even if you do somehow

coincidentally bump into one of these

thousand people who see you on my channel,

what do you think they're gonna do?

They're not going to kidnap you. They're

not gonna attack you. They wouldn't even

recognize you or remember you or even

realize that it's you. Yeah, I know you

have to respect people's privacy, and if

people don't want to be in my videos,

that's fine. I'll blur them out. I'll cut

them out. It just, you know, miffed me off

a little bit that they were okay with it

at first, and then they changed their mind

based off of a few comments and because

of— I don't even really know really what

they were so upset about. It's the

internet. It's YouTube. Everyone knows

what YouTube comments are like. Some

people say rude, inappropriate things in

the comment section. I don't know why this

is a surprise to anyone. I guess you could

say that I, I feel a bit of pity towards

people who care so much about what society

thinks of them and about fitting in and

caring about being normal. That's just

kind of sad, and you just don't

understand the kind of freedom that I feel

when You just stop caring about society

and you stop caring about what people

think of you. It's just so freeing and

liberating. I also feel a little bit hurt

that people are embarrassed or they're

against showing up on my channel. If it

was anyone else's channel like Rachel and

Jun's, then I bet they'd be jumping over

the moon with excitement to be on Rachel

and Jun's channel. So in conclusion, I

don't think I'm going to meet any of my

wife's friends anymore. Usually I only

have 2 motivations to meet people.

Number one motivation is obviously cereal,

and then the second motivation to meet

people is, is for content. And if I can't

get cereal and I can't get content, I just

think to myself, what is the point of

pushing myself out there, out of my

comfort zone, meeting these people when I

get nothing in return?
