DO NOT BUY S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2： Heart of Chornobyl

Hello, welcome back to a new video.

So recently I've been playing the brand

new S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

2: Heart of Chornobyl, which I guess is

supposed to be Heart of Chernobyl, but

because it's supposed to be set in a

fictional world, they changed it to

Chornobyl.

And what can I say?

The game is like the title suggests— it is

a chore.

It is the most boring, bland game I've

ever played, and I'm saying that as an

avid fan of the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

game.

I love that game, had so many great things

going for it, and I feel like in this

sequel to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

series

It just doesn't have what I wanted in a

sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

In this game, it's basically like a

post-apocalyptic Fallout game.

It's basically like Fallout, ripoff of

Fallout, where some kind of radiation,

chemical thing has happened to the world

and everything's been mutated.

There's giant rats and weird mutants and

evil humans that you have to shoot.

The whole premise of the game is you're

running through this massive open world

map and you loot stuff.

The whole point is you loot things and you

kill stuff and you loot stuff.

To sell it to buy more stuff so you can

kill more stuff and loot more things.

That is basically the gameplay mechanic

loop of this game, and it gets very

tedious and repetitive.

So the world is very bland, boring, dark,

dull, gray, very unsaturated world.

It's very ugly to look at.

It's not a very pretty world.

The graphics are not very good, not up to

my standards.

And as you can see, the footage in my game

is not very good.

I want to explain why.

So this game's extremely poorly optimized

for my gaming laptop, I guess.

So I've got a pretty good gaming laptop,

it cost me £1,000.

I bought it at the end of last year, so

after Christmas on a Christmas sale.

I bought this for about £1,000.

It's got an RTX 4050 graphics card with a

Ryzen 7 940HS CPU, 16GB RAM.

So it's a pretty good laptop for gaming,

but for some reason I cannot play this

game.

I put every graphic settings to low, I put

on the DLSS performance, ultra performance

mode, I turned the sharpening all the way

down to zero.

I did everything I possibly

could to increase the frame rates, and the

best frame rates I could get, even running

my laptop on turbo mode, was about 5 FPS.

I could probably get 7 FPS.

The game was a stuttery mess, and I

couldn't be bothered to figure out how to

fix it in the settings because I tried

every possible setting.

Like, changing the resolution of my

monitor also didn't help.

So this game is extremely poorly optimized

for my laptop.

Maybe it'll get fixed later.

Okay, sure, my laptop is not the best,

most powerful graphics card in the world,

But it's not that bad.

It was quite a mid-spec, mid-entry-level

laptop, so it should be able to handle

this game on low settings.

With everything set to low, there's really

no excuse why this game shouldn't be able

to work, but it just didn't work.

So I watched some other reviews.

I watched that Gameranx channel, and his

review was so rubbish.

He was like, oh my god, this game's so

amazing because the guns sound violent and

loud.

No, they don't.

They sound like every other gun in every

other FPS game.

They just go bang bang like every other

gun you've ever heard of.

I don't know what he's talking about.

With the gunfights being exciting because

you can't see— there's no visual indicator

of where the gunfire is coming from.

Oh wow, how innovative.

And then he said the enemies like to throw

grenades at you and it's hard to avoid

them because there's no indication and

they keep yelling out grenade out, so

that's what you gotta listen for.

So it's really stupid in the way that the

AI just throws grenades constantly and the

only way you're supposed to avoid them is

by trying to figure out where they've

landed.

It's kind of a stupid gameplay mechanic.

And in general, the AI in this game is

absolutely terrible.

I've seen other people play this and the

AI just stands around doing nothing half

the time and it's just brain dead.

The combat system is really boring.

It's just like a very bare-bones FPS

shooter and there's not really anything

special about it.

The weapons are very dull.

It's just pistol, rifle, grenades,

shotgun.

Very boring.

The creatures in the game are also pretty

boring.

They're just like giant rats, giant

otters, mutated beaver, just any kind of

wildlife you can imagine.

Just bigger and more mutated looking.

Then they've got some kind of zombie

looking things which have been mutated.

Also very lacking in luster in the

creativity department.

I think if you want a game that focuses on

looting and killing weird mutant wildlife

and also fighting humans with an

interesting combat system in a cool world

that has suffered some kind of nuclear

fallout, then obviously the game you want

to play is not this.

It would be Fallout.

I mean, that game is literally called

Fallout.

Just play Fallout 4 or the online one

Fallout 76 or whatever it's called, and

you'll have a way more fun experience than

what you can find in this game.

I think the graphics in Fallout 4 are way

better than graphics in this game, and

this game doesn't even work.

So unfortunately, I cannot recommend this

game.

It has been pretty disappointing, and I

think a lot of people agree with me that

this game has been pretty disappointing on

release.

Hopefully they're going to fix it in some

future patches, but But I'm not going to

wait around for those patches to come.

I had a chance of playing this game, they

had the chance of winning me or hooking

me, and they kind of failed.

And I'm going to give this game a 3.5 out

of 10.

Do not buy, do not recommend, and just

play something else basically.
