What happened to Emma Blackery - Dead Channels

Emma Blackery is a 27-year-old

British YouTuber. Oh, she's the same age

as my sister. That's funny. Yeah, 1991.

No, wait, my sister was born in 1992.

Anyway, anyway, Emma Blackery is a British

female YouTuber, 1.4 million subscribers.

But if you look at her videos, you'll

notice that her views are not that great,

not what they once were. And, um, well,

what does she do on her channel? I'm not

too sure because I haven't really watched

any of her videos. I watched one or two,

but they weren't really interesting. They

just seemed like vlogs, and she was

talking about how she felt, feelings,

um, feelings of depression. She does

other, other things as well, including

Fashion, makeup, you know, typical stuff

that female YouTubers tend to talk about.

She also has kind of a music career.

She makes her own music. I guess it's okay

music. It's not really my cup of tea, but

I wouldn't say it's terrible music.

Um, what else does she do? Well, she talks

about her life. Yeah, we mentioned that

already. She talks about music as well. I

kind of see her as, you know, another one

of those British vlogging-type YouTubers

who were pretty popular about 4 years ago.

You know, that same group of Alfie Deyes,

Zoella, Caspar Lee, Marcus Butler.

They've all kind of become irrelevant now.

No one even talks about them. And they've

all just kind of faded away, which is kind

of sad. It's kind of sad when you think

about the short lifespan popular channels

have on YouTube, and it kind of seems as

though when you start to near your 30s,

your channels kind of die, and then, you

know, you get a new wave of younger

YouTubers who are 18 or 19, and then

the cycle repeats itself. Emma Blackery

has several different channels. Her main

channel is Emma Blackery. She also has a

channel for vlogging called Vlogery. I

think she also had a gaming channel.

She's part of those YouTubers who have

several YouTube channels. You know, they

have their gaming channel and their

vlogging channel to accompany their main

channel. And it's kind of annoying when,

you know, you have one person, they have 5

billion different channels? Why can't you

just keep it all on the same channel? I

think that trend of YouTubers creating so

many different channels under, under their

own brand is kind of fading out, which is—

I think it's a nice thing. It's kind of

annoying having so many different channels

from the same person.

You know, I feel a little bit sorry for

her in some ways. Because she, she's

obviously suffering from some kind of

depression or anxiety. She talks about it

quite often. She often talks about how

down in the dumps she feels and how shit

she feels and how terrible things are.

And I can relate to that. I also feel kind

of sorry that she doesn't really get that

many views anymore. As you can see from

this screenshot, she Apart

from the one about Lush, uh, she doesn't

really get, get that many views, and her

last video didn't even get more than 14k,

which is not, not very good considering

she has 1.4 million subscribers.

Most of her videos, recent videos, didn't

even get more than 40k views, which is

kind of sad. It's a bit depressing when

you come across these really big channels

which have millions of subscribers and

they can't even get over 40,000 views.

You ask yourself, I wonder why, I wonder

why people stopped watching her or them.

How can so many people subscribe to

someone and then just forget about that

person, forget that they subscribed to

them, or lose interest in watching them?

I guess people have their own lives and

they just move on. And if something else

is more interesting, more shiny, then they

just move over to that one and forget

about the ones they were already

subscribed to. Makes you wonder, why don't

they just unsubscribe if they're not

interested anymore?

If you keep scrolling back, she has quite

a lot of videos. I think her first video

goes all the way back from 6 years ago.

So she's been on YouTube for about 6

years. But you can tell that she was

at one point very, very popular.

You can see 5, 6 years ago she was getting

hundreds of thousands of views. Some even

had millions of views. Half a million,

800K. And it's just kind of sad when you

find these channels that used to be

popular to this extent and then For

some reason they just die off. Even though

the YouTuber is working as hard as they

always did, they're still putting effort

into it, still trying their best. And you

can kind of tell that Emma is still

trying. She's still putting videos out.

Maybe not as much as she used to, but you

know, she's still trying to come up with

ideas and she tries her best. She has good

equipment. Makes a nice-looking thumbnail.

Hey guys, I didn't really plan this out

before I decided to do the filming and

talking thingy, so this probably isn't

gonna make that much sense. Recently on

Twitter, I've been seeing things that

girlfriends have been posting about their

boyfriends, things that they don't like

their boyfriends to do, or things that

they like their boyfriends to do, which

are just pretty much ridiculous. I have

come to the conclusion that there are only

2 main things that I wouldn't want my

boyfriend— potential boyfriend. I am of

course forever alone. Okay, so this was

her oldest video, or is her oldest video,

still is. I'm not sure, maybe there are

older ones that she's privated, but this

is the oldest video you can find on her

channel. About— it was made about 6 years

ago, so 2013, which would make her about

21 years old, 22. And first

thing I've noticed is her accent sounds

kind of different to how it sounds now. I

think this is fairly common because if I

look back at my older videos just from a

few years ago, I've noticed that my accent

sounds very different to how it used to

sound. And if I were to comment on her

physical appearance, I would say she kind

of looks like one of those emo girls who

were into My Chemical Romance and wearing

black and, you know, doing emo

hair. She gives me that kind of

impression. Okay, now we're going to

have a look at one of her recent videos

and compare 2013 Emma Blackery

to present-day Emma Blackery.

30s, like this song, it's just like, oh

God, like it just describes Like our

childhoods growing up only having four

channels on the TV, and like if if The

Simpsons wasn't on, you were probably out

with your friends. It was just like little

things. I'm just like, that's me. I would

say those are my favorite songs. Um, I I

will I will be completely open. I I think

some songs towards the end of the album,

they sort of they to me they're not as

okay. So my first impressions of present

day Emma Blackery would firstly be she.

Seems to be using the word like a little

bit too much for my own liking, but this

is fairly common. It's a fairly common

thing for younger people to overuse

the word like when it's not really

necessary. Another observation that I've

made is her face seems kind of slightly

wider compared to what it used to be, but

this is also fairly common when it comes

to the aging process in human beings.

I've also noticed it myself with my own

face. I've also noticed that my own face

seems slightly wider than it used to be.

Now, if I were to make a comment on her

physical appearance and her

attractiveness, I would say that she— I do

think that she's fairly attractive,

actually, and she does seem like the kind

of girl that I would be interested in. I

like the way she's creative And she's

artistic and she wants to use her

talents to make a living. There's nothing

wrong with that. I think that's very

respectable. I think she has

this quite endearing,

quirky sense of humor, and I quite like

her fashion style. I could totally see

myself being in a romantic relationship

with her, and I do think that we have a

few things in common. For example, our

love for My Chemical Romance. We both seem

to have had some kind of emo phase.

I think she has a well-balanced face with

fairly attractive facial features.

Nothing seems out of place. The

proportions all seem, you know, fairly

good, I would say. You know, there's no,

no weird features or oversized or

undersized features. I say— I would say in

general, I would give her a nice solid 6.7

out of 10. So yeah,

that was Emma Blackery. I hope you enjoyed

It's, um, it's a bit unfortunate that her

channel isn't as popular as it once was,

and I'm not really sure what she could do

to turn that around. Maybe she's kind

of lost, lost the passion to make videos.

Maybe she just doesn't feel as motivated

as she once did. That's totally

understandable. 6 years on YouTube is a

pretty long time, and after 6 years,

even making videos on YouTube can start to

get repetitive and boring. And it's very

demotivating when you put so much effort

into making videos and your own

subscribers don't even want to watch it.

I understand how painful that can be after

building up a decently sized,

pretty large channel.

Then as the years go by, you get less and

less views and you start wondering, why

don't they care about me anymore? Where

did they go? Did they just get sick and

tired of me. I know how that feels,

and it doesn't feel good. Hurts.

It, um, yeah, it really hurts.

things get better for you.
