Why I HATE Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Series - VERY Disappointing

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So

today I want to talk about the new Star

Wars Kenobi series on Disney Plus, and as

an avid fan of Star Wars and sci-fi shows

and movies in general, I knew I just had

to watch this. Unfortunately, so far it's

been very disappointing and lacking in

luster, and as someone who's watched every

single Star Wars movie and show and series

that there is so far, I wouldn't say that

this is the absolutely worst show that's

been released so far, but it's definitely

down there at the bottom. So in Star Wars

Obi-Wan Kenobi, it follows the story of

Obi-Wan Kenobi after he runs away from the

Empire after defeating Anakin Skywalker in

Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith. So this

series takes place between Episode 3 and

Episode 4 when Luke and Leia are very

young kids. And if you're like me and you

find kids to be very annoying, then I have

some bad news because pretty much most of

the story revolves around Leia Organa as a

child and Kenobi is trying to look after

her and protect her. And I just found the

scenes between Leia and Kenobi to be kind

of annoying. She's just like an annoying

little kid. There's a good chunk in the

second episode where she doesn't believe

Kenobi is who he says he is, and she's

trying to run away from him, and Kenobi is

chasing after her, and he's just shouting

Leia, Leia, Leia all the time. It gets a

bit annoying, and she doesn't trust him

because he refuses to use the Force to

prove that he's actually a Jedi, only

until there's this over-the-top elaborate

rooftop chase which is just really dumb,

where she falls off the edge of the

building and then Kenobi is finally forced

to use the Force to save her from falling

down, and then she trusts him. I mean,

that whole entire rooftop chase scene

could have been avoided if Kenobi just

used his Force to float a can or a little

rock or something just to prove that he is

a Jedi. And whilst he's chasing Leia,

there's this woman called the Third Sister

who's like the main villain, and she's

doing all these ridiculous-looking parkour

moves to jump over these tiny gaps over

the rooftop, and it just seems so

unnecessary and it looks really rubbish.

It just looks like they're using some kind

of wire to make her do backflips and

stuff. It looks like those Asian kung fu

movies where they're very obviously using

a wire to do these backflips and tricks,

and it just looks kind of cheesy. So the

main villains in this series are the

Inquisitors, and there's 3 of them, and

one of them is this black woman called the

Third Sister, and she's constantly arguing

with the leader Inquisitor and the other

guy And they don't like each other because

they have different opinions on how to

capture Obi-Wan Kenobi. And the

Inquisitors are just kind of lame as

villains. They're like these ripoff,

cheap-looking knockoff Darth Vader

wannabes. They wear this black armor and

they've got capes and they look all

intimidating and everything, but they're

not scary or intimidating or even cool in

any way. They're just kind of lame, you

know, just like grade C typical Disney

Star Wars villains that you would expect

in The Mandalorian or Boba Fett. They're

just kind of dumb. And the Third Sister

really, really hates Obi-Wan for some

reason. Like, there's some kind of

personal vendetta she has against him. I

don't know what he did. Maybe he slept

with her mother or something, but she

really despises Obi-Wan, which is kind of

weird and doesn't make any sense. They

don't really explain why she hates him so

much. But in general, I just found the

Third Sister to be a bit of an annoying

character. I didn't really like her much.

She was kind of boring. And after watching

the first 2 episodes, They don't even

fight. Almost the entirety of the first 2

episodes is basically just Kenobi running

away, and then he has a few fistfights

here and there. He takes his lightsaber,

which also seems kind of silly because

he's supposed to be in hiding, but then

Bail Organa manages to convince him to go

and rescue Leia, and then he takes out his

lightsaber and he's just walking through

town in Tatooine carrying it, not really

trying to hide it at all. He just has his

lightsaber dangling from his waist, and

when the wind blows his cape, it can be

fully visible and fully seen. I mean,

anyone in town could have seen it and then

he would have blown his cover. So he

leaves Tatooine, gets on this ship, and

just arrives at this planet that is being

controlled by the Empire because there's

stormtroopers on it. And you would think

that they would have airport security that

checks if passengers are carrying weapons.

Don't they have any kind of weapons

scanning system? How do they just let

passengers get onto and off of transport

ships that go in between different

planets? If they're supposed to be trying

to hunt down the Jedi, wouldn't it make

sense to check every passenger or use some

kind of scanning machine? They must have

some kind of scanning systems that can

detect if someone's carrying a weapon of

some sort. You're telling me that in the

Star Wars universe they have the

technology to create massive orbital

stations that can destroy planets and

hyperspeed and all these spaceships and

lasers and stuff, but they can't even

build some kind of simple scanning

computer that can detect a weapon or a

lightsaber? It just seems kind of silly.

And then Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't even use

his lightsaber. Any of the episodes. He

doesn't even touch it. He's just using

this blaster. The ending of the 2nd

episode of Kenobi is kind of disappointing

as well. I was kind of expecting there to

be a showdown between the Third Sister and

Kenobi where they use their lightsabers,

but it doesn't really happen. She does

track him down and then he escapes. So

what I'm expecting for the next few

episodes is that the Third Sister is not

really going to be much of an adversary

for Kenobi. There's gonna be a showdown,

Kenobi's obviously gonna win, and they're

basically just building it up for Anakin

Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader, to

make his triumphant appearance. And I

actually really like the concept and the

idea of this veteran Master Jedi Obi-Wan

Kenobi being hunted down and on the run

and being very scared of his previous

Padawan. I kind of like the idea of seeing

the regrets and sadness in Kenobi's face

after realizing that maybe he and Qui-Gon

were wrong about training Anakin, and

maybe it was all their fault and they were

the ones responsible for creating this

monster. I think it could be really cool

if Disney made this into like this horror

kind of series instead of like a standard,

bog-standard action sci-fi adventure. If

they put like horror elements into it

where Darth Vader is really scary and you

can see the fear in Kenobi's eyes and he's

literally pissing his pants at the idea of

being captured by his former Padawan. But

unfortunately, this is Disney we're

talking about, and they've so far released

just rubbish. They've made 3 really crap

movies. Rogue One was okay, but that

wasn't really Disney, I guess. And they've

also made a few series. Mandalorian was

okay, it wasn't really great. Boba Fett

was just utter rubbish. So I don't really

have high hopes that Disney will be able

to do a good job on this, but I feel like

there could be potential for this Kenobi

series to actually be pretty good. I just

wish they would stop introducing these

crappy new side characters like the Third

Sister and the Inquisitors and all these

stupid other characters like Poe Dameron

or Finn, whatever his face is. I wish

they'd just keep it simple, just introduce

1 or 2 new characters if it's really

necessary. It's like in The Force Awakens,

there were just so many random unnecessary

characters you couldn't give a crap about.

Same with Rogue One, it was just like a

mishmash of random diversities that all

got put together as a crew and you didn't

really care about any of them. They could

have just kept it simple with just the

main woman character, maybe the Mexican

guy, but all the others were just like

cannon fodder. And I just really, really

hope they don't do the same with this

Kenobi series. Already The Inquisitors is

too many of them. Why are there 3? There

should just be one that's really scary and

intimidating. And I really hope they don't

try and introduce some kind of side

character, like a sidekick for Kenobi that

follows him around. He's like the Robin to

Batman. That would just be so lame. I got

a bit worried because in the first episode

they actually do introduce this young Jedi

guy who's tracking down Kenobi, and he

gets captured by the Inquisitors at the

end and he doesn't really survive. So I

was quite relieved to see that he died. I

was kind of worried he's gonna be like a

permanent character in the series and he's

gonna beg Obi-Wan to train him, or, or

he's gonna try and convince Kenobi to pick

up his lightsaber again and carry on the

fight or something cheesy. They've already

got the main stars that they need for this

show. They've got Obi-Wan, they've got

Darth Vader, they've got some child actors

for Leia and Luke, and they've got Owen.

I think that's fine for the character

roster. They don't need more sidekicks or

side characters or comic relief characters

like Jar Jar or whatever stupid droids

they want to bring on. Star Wars has this

really bad habit of being obsessed with

the idea of having a comic relief

character or droid like Jar Jar or C-3PO,

and I wish they would just really quit it.

So those are my wishes for the future

episodes of Kenobi. No annoying sidekicks

or comic relief characters, no stupid

droid that follows them around and acts

all cute. I hope they get rid of the Third

Sister character pretty soon because she's

just kind of annoying. She has no— she has

no screen presence or personality. She's

just kind of dull, like random villain

scary woman kind of character. So I'm

hoping they get rid of her in the next

episode and they do a good job at building

up the tension and finally bring out Darth

Vader and where they have an epic showdown

between Kenobi and Vader. And yeah,

that's basically all I'm hoping for from

this series. I'm not trying to get my

expectations up too much because I'm just

gonna get disappointed like I did time and

time before. I think as of right now,

after watching the initial first 2

episodes, I'm going to have to give the

show a 4.2 out of 10. It was a good

attempt, good try. I like Ewan McGregor.

I think he's a good actor and he's fun to

watch, but the other characters so far are

just not really up to my standards and

just seem a bit uninspired.
