Star Wars fans need to grow up

I finally got around to watching the new

Star Wars movie a few days ago, Rise of

Skywalker. I didn't really rush out to the

cinemas this time to go and see it like I

did with Force Awakens and The Last Jedi

because, well, let's face it, Star Wars is

a bit of a joke now, and I just had no

expectations going into the movie, and it

was just really bad, just like I thought

it would be. No surprises there. And I was

thinking about making a video talking

about all of the things I hated about the

new Star Wars movie, you know, like

everyone else is doing, Seems like it's

kind of a popular thing to hate on Star

Wars right now. I had this big list of

things I hated about the movie. As I was

watching it, I was just making a mental

note of everything that just made me

cringe. There were just so many things I

hated about the movie. The terrible cheesy

dialogue, the horrible jokes, the really

boring bland characters, and that weird

kiss at the end between Rey and Kylo was

just so awkward to watch. There was

nothing romantic going on between them.

And they just randomly kiss each other.

After I finished watching the movie, I

came back home and I went onto YouTube,

and just randomly some video by this small

channel called Star Wars Only got

recommended to me. It was called Star

Wars: The Phantom Menace 20 Years Later,

and it was a 40-minute-long

documentary-style video talking about how

everyone hated the prequels when they

first came out and how disappointed all

the fans were and how much of a big event

it was back then. It was quite a long

video, about 40 minutes long, but I

watched the entire thing and it was really

interesting and made me think about a few

things. Firstly, I thought it was just so

funny how fanatic these fans were,

camping outside of cinemas in tents all

night long just so they could see this

movie that was made for kids. They hyped

up The Phantom Menace so much, and then

when it finally got released and they

finally got to see the movie, And when all

these fans realized that it was a terrible

movie, there was just so much

disappointment and anger. Some of these

actors that were in the movie were getting

so much hate and harassment from these

disappointed fans that they had to go and

get therapy, they quit acting, they had

their whole lives ruined. And it just made

me think, Star Wars fans need to grow up.

Why are they acting so immature and

whining about a kids movie when they

aren't kids? They're adults. Obviously

they're not going to enjoy a kids movie in

the same way that they did when they were

kids. I started to think to myself, why do

I hate this new Star Wars sequel trilogy

so much? Why can't I enjoy them like I

used to enjoy Star Wars when I was a kid?

And I think I found the answer, guys.

It's because I'm not a kid anymore. I'm a

30-year-old grown man. When I first

watched Star Wars, I was about 10 years

old. In 1999, 20 years ago, when The

Phantom Menace came out, My parents took

me to the cinema to see the movie, and I

loved it because I was a kid and Star Wars

has always been a kids movie. George Lucas

has repeatedly said over and over again,

it's a movie for kids. Obviously, as an

adult now, I won't be able to enjoy a

movie that's designed for kids because I

have different tastes. And I'm not sure if

all of these other super Star Wars

fanatics and fans who make all these

ranting videos and complain all the time I

wonder if they realize that the reason

they don't like these new Star Wars movies

is because they're not children anymore.

They say stuff like, oh, Star Wars used to

be really good, used to be amazing. Did

it? Was it really that good? I tried

watching the original trilogy again

recently, and it wasn't that great, to be

honest. It wasn't as great as I remembered

it, because when I watched it for the

first time, I was a teenager. I tried

watching it again as a 30-year-old man,

And even the original Star Wars just seems

kind of lame. I mean, you have teddy bears

running around in a forest hitting

stormtroopers who are wearing this white

plastic armor with sticks. The characters

weren't really that complex or deep. The

dialogue was really cheesy back then as

well. You know, all of the complaints

people are making about the new Star Wars

films that are being made by Disney, I

think you can apply them all to the

prequels and the originals. The only

reason why there's so much love for Star

Wars is because of nostalgia. All of these

super diehard fans who are adults now,

they love Star Wars so much because they

loved it as a kid. Just like I loved The

Phantom Menace when I watched it as a kid.

I thought it was a really cool movie when

I was 10 years old, even though all of the

adult fans at the time were complaining

about it. I thought it was the best thing

ever. I even liked Jar Jar Binks, and I

used to copy the way he walked because I

thought it was really cool. But I was 10

years old back then, and I'm not 10 years

old anymore. I grew up, and I don't think

stupid dumb characters like Jar Jar Binks

are cool anymore. The problem is the fans

who love Star Wars now, who are adults,

they're fans because they probably watched

Star Wars as a kid like I did, and they've

grown up now. They've become adults.

They've matured. But the Star Wars movies

have not grown up. They have not matured.

They're still being made. They're still

being made for kids. The target audience

of Star Wars is children, and Disney makes

films for children. It's sad to say this,

but us grown-up fans of Star Wars who have

become adults now, we're not being catered

to. The new Star Wars movies have been

made for a new generation of children,

not for us adults who used to love it when

we were children. No, we've been

forgotten, cast aside, because Because it

just makes more money for Disney if they

make movies for children. I think if

Disney really wanted to please us adult

fans of Star Wars, they would have to make

a very dark, mature, gory, violent version

of Star Wars. I would absolutely love

that. I wouldn't even care if the story

sucked or if the characters were bad. If

they just gave us bloody violent action

scenes with a dark grim storyline, That

would just be so, so good. No cheesy

dialogue, no stupid cute dumb characters,

none of this forced comedy to try and

lighten things up. I want it to be dark

and brooding and depressing and grown up,

because I've grown up. I'm not a child

anymore. I'm just not entertained by

movies that have been designed for

children. And the problem is Disney is not

going to start making mature adult-themed

Star Wars because that's not where the

money is. They're going to carry on making

kids movies because that's how they make

more money, and us adult fans, we're just

going to be left in the dark complaining

endlessly on YouTube. Yeah, okay, there

are some adults who still enjoy things

that have been made for kids, and I call

them weirdos. You know those 20 or

30-year-olds who still like playing

Pokémon? That's not normal. Most adults

don't like things or aren't interested in

things made for kids. I'm not saying it's

wrong to enjoy things made for kids when

you're an adult. I'm just saying it's

weird. You know, you see those 30-year-old

grown men who are still playing Pokémon on

their Switch or Mario, Super Mario,

and I just think it's weird. Play a real

man's game for God's sake, like The

Witcher or Rainbow Six. Why are you still

interested in colorful dumb-looking

characters like Super Mario and Pokémon

when you're 30 years old? I just don't get

it. And then you get all these dumb Star

Wars fans complaining all the time because

the new Star Wars movies, they don't like

them because it's not deep and the story

is really shallow and the characters are

bland and there's all these silly

characters used for comedic effects like

BB-8 and Jar Jar Binks. Yeah, that's

because it's, it's a movie for kids, not

adults. What do you expect? I think it's

time for us to all move on from Star Wars

and stop complaining about it. If you can

still enjoy them, then that's great, good

for you. But for me personally, as a

30-year-old man, Star Wars is kind of dead

to me. I just don't get any enjoyment or

entertainment from these new movies or

even the old movies. I tried watching the

old ones and they suck as well. It was

really tough for me to come to this

conclusion. It was a real slap in the face

when I realized that I'm not a kid

anymore. I don't enjoy Star Wars anymore.

I'm getting old. I'm already halfway

through my life, possibly, if I only live

until 60. The sad fact of life is getting

old is just sad and depressing. Things you

used to love when you were a child, you

don't love anymore. My dad passed away,

my cat passed away, I don't go to school

anymore with my schoolmates, I don't carry

my little black plastic Jurassic Park

lunchbox around anymore. The final nail in

the coffin was when I realized that I

don't like Star Wars anymore, when I used

to love it. I used to absolutely love Star

Wars. I used to dream about it, fantasize

about it. I used to play Star Wars

Galaxies every single day, roleplaying as

a Jedi. It's tempting to put all of the

blame on George Lucas or Disney for making

bad Star Wars movies, and they are bad

movies, don't get me wrong. But it's not

just that they're bad. They were always

bad. It's just that we grew up. And we're

not kids anymore, and it's time to stop

complaining about kids movies and just let

the new generation of kids enjoy these

Star Wars movies like we enjoyed them when

we were kids. And then they'll grow up,

and in 20 years' time, they'll also be

angry Star Wars fans coming to the

realization that Star Wars has always kind

of sucked, and it'll just be this

never-ending continuous cycle of Kids

loving Star Wars, then growing up and then

becoming disgruntled and hating it and

complaining about it, and then the new

generation of kids enjoying the new

generation of Star Wars. I think that's

just the way of life.

I think a lot of us Star Wars fans,

including me, we have this thing called

Peter Pan syndrome where we don't want to

grow up. Growing up is not a fun process.

The best part of our lives was when we

were kids, when things were magical. And I

think part of the outrage at these new

Star Wars movies is just that people are

getting a harsh reality check, a slap in

the face, telling us to wake up. We're not

Peter Pan. We're 30 years old. We're grown

adults.
