and welcome to the official apartment

tour. I know this must be the 3rd time

doing a tour here, But this is the

official tour because we finally moved in

and everything's unpacked and we've lived

here for a few days now. So, um, let's get

started at the entrance. Now before we get

started at the entrance, I want to tell

you how much it costs to live here. The

rent is ¥68,000, which is about $600,

and in pounds, I'm not sure how much that

is in pounds. The answer is £473.48.

So it's about £470 for

the rent, and since I'm splitting it in

half with my wife, I pay £235 a

month. That's not including electricity,

water, or gas, or other bills like

internet, and I don't think there's any

point in telling you about that because

everyone's different. If you stay inside

all day long every day, then your bills,

electricity bills, are going to be more

expensive than someone who goes out to

work and isn't at home much. So the, the

base cost of the rent is ¥68,000. Okay,

so let's get back to the entrance. This is

the entrance, little square where you take

your shoes off, and there's lots of

storage for shoes. As you can see,

there's a cupboard up here,

lots of space.

And we need the space because look at how

many shoes my wife has. She has loads.

These are all of her shoes. None of these

are mine. My shoes are here. My flip-flops

and— where are my trainers? Oh, my shoes

are here. These are mine. The rest of

them, these are all my wife's shoes.

On our right-hand side, we have a toilet.

And it is actually one of those fancy

electric toilets. I'll show you. Toilet's

quite nice. We have toilet— toilet roll—

toilet paper holder where you can store

several rolls of toilet paper. And this

is the toilet. It's a very nice looking

toilet. It has lots of buttons, lots of

features. There's a stop button. I'm not

sure what it stops. Spray your bottom

button. And another spray your bottom

button. I'm not sure what the difference

is between these two. This one says wide.

This one also says wide, but this one says

super as well. I'm not sure what that

means. And here we have the strength of

the spray. And I'm not

sure what this is— the position, forwards

or backwards, the placement of the spray.

And this is a massage button. I guess the

seat can massage as well. And turbo smell

deletion. I'm not sure how would you— how

would you say it in English? Turbo getting

rid of the smell mode on or off. And these

are different settings for the temperature

of the heated seat. The heat— the seat is

heated. Yeah, it's one of those fancy

toilets with the heated seats, and it

feels so nice to sit on in the morning

when it's cold. You wake up, it's cold,

you need to go to the toilet. Last thing

you want to sit on is a freezing cold

plastic seat. So when you sit on this and

it's nice and warm, it is absolute heaven.

I want to try pressing one of these spray

buttons, but I'm scared it will spray me

in the face. Let's try.

Nothing's happening.

Okay, it's not working. I'm pressing it,

nothing's happening. Oh, I think you

actually need to sit down on it so the

sensor gets triggered. If the sensor

doesn't get triggered, maybe it doesn't

work. So I need to sensor— trigger the

sensor and then press it somehow. I'll use

my foot. Oh, it's coming out!

I don't understand what's— it just sprayed

me! I'm wet now.

It's— it just sprayed me in the face and

my neck. As you can see,

it has quite, quite a range. It sprayed

all the way out into the hallway and all

over my clothing. There's also a shelf up

there where you can put stuff. Okay,

let's go back out into the hallway and

step into the bathroom washing area, and I

think this is one of my favorite areas of

the house, mainly because the sink and the

mirror is in a separate room to the

shower. Before, in our old place,

everything was in the shower cubicle. We

had the shower cubicle about this size, a

bit smaller, and the sink was in here,

the mirror was in here, and to brush your

teeth you had to stand in here and your

feet would get all wet. You have no idea

how, how nice it is to have the sink and

mirror in a separate room. I can brush my

teeth without getting my feet wet, and you

can stand in front of the mirror, and my

hair looks stupid. It's just really nice

to be able to stand here and brush my

teeth in front of a big, nice big mirror

and not get my feet all wet from the

shower room. And there's, there's a light

here, big light bulb, and the light bulb

gets very hot, which is nice and warm. It

feels nice and warm on your face when you

stand close to it like this. And I know

this sounds silly, but for the first time

in a long time, I actually enjoyed

brushing my teeth and washing my face last

night. It's just nice and spacious, and

you get lots of compartments to store

things. You can put your bottles and your

toothbrush, toothpaste, stuff like that on

the sides. And there's a little plug here

so you can plug in a shaver or hair dryer

or electric toothbrush. And there's

more storage up there, a shelf. There's a

cupboard underneath the sink. And in the

shower room, there's another mirror,

little compartments to put shampoo and

bottles, and a bathtub.

Okay, let's make our way into the living

room, living area, living space. As you

can see, it's very Spacious, very spacious

living space. We don't have much furniture

at the moment. I did buy a little chair

sofa thing. It's not really a sofa, it's

like a, a little chair that goes on the

floor. I'll open it later and show you.

We did buy a sofa, but it's coming

tomorrow and we'll put it in the corner

here against the wall. We also bought a

desk— well, I bought a desk and a computer

chair for my laptop. And I'll put it in

the corner here. And we have the coffee

table from the old place, television,

little table for the television,

curtains, window, balcony. That goes out

onto the balcony where you can hang your

laundry. And this is the kitchen.

It's really nice having a kitchen, a

proper kitchen where you can store things.

We can actually do cooking in the kitchen

now, look. There's a space here for

cutting things. Put the chopping board

here and cut meat, cut vegetables. And we

need to buy a gas stove, like a proper gas

stove, big one that goes in here and that

connects to these gas pumps. We'll buy it

later, I guess. And there's a big sink.

Look how big the sink is. It's huge.

Loads of storage. Cabinets, cabinets,

cabinets. More cupboards.

We have a big fridge. It's big enough. We

don't need a huge fridge just for the 2 of

us. And there's a freezer

at the top. Very nice freezer.

And on top of that, we have the old

microwave. The electric cable situation is

a bit of a mess, if you can see here.

Yeah, the problem is there's, there's only

one socket up there for the fridge and we

needed a second one for the microwave,

but there isn't a second one over there,

so we had to trail it along in

front of the door, which looks a bit

messy. And we have an oven, grill,

rice cooker, Nespresso machine.

Next, we have the bedroom where we have a

a shelf which has my wife's makeup and

cosmetics. We have a full-body mirror and

a heater.

This is new. We got it yesterday off

Amazon. Yeah, I think it's a nice

bedroom. Nothing special. Just a little

square room.

And up next we have my favourite room. I

think this is my favourite room. It just

feels really nice and comfy and cozy in

there. It's the Japanese-style room.

There's nothing in here apart from a

clothing rack. We might get a little table

that goes in the middle. You know those

fancy Japanese tables that have the

blanket and it's heated. We might get one

of those to put in the middle. It just

feels really nice and relaxing in here.

There's something about Japanese-style

rooms that have these tatami mats. It just

relaxes you when, when you're inside of

it. And, um, yeah, we have 1,

2, 3, 4, 5, 6 mats. And we

bought this light which is kind of dull

actually. If you turn it on It's very dark

still. And we have

more storage space behind these sliding

doors. We have coats,

compartments for clothing,

and in here you

have to slide this door back to gain

access. We have more storage. Look at all

this. Huge amount of storage

space. Look at that.

All of our junk and clutter goes in here.

I guess you could store a mattress, like a

futon, and then if you have guests over,

you could sleep in this room if you just

lay out the futon, and then when you wake

up, you roll it up and put it back in

here. That is the traditional way

of Japanese living, I guess.

Yeah, this is definitely my favorite room.

I'm not sure why. It's darker because

there's not as much sunlight. The other

rooms get very bright when the sun starts

coming down, and I just prefer a darker,

more secluded room. I could sit down here.

I could set up my new chair, which is in

that box over there, and just sit here. I

could get a little table as well and put

it in the middle. Do my computing here.

It's very relaxing.

I just can't believe that I'm living in

such a nice place. Look at it! It looks

great and I'm only spending— it's only

costing me £240 a month.

Jesus, you could live here on, on

Jobseeker's Allowance at that rate.

Even if you were only making £500 a month,

you'd be able to pay for rent and you'd

still have enough money left over to buy

food and maybe some extra things and to

pay the bills. I can't believe how

affordable Japan is, and everyone keeps

going on about how expensive Japan is.

Oh, it's so expensive to live in Japan,
