DO NOT BUY New World MMORPG - Terrible Game

Hello and welcome back to a new video game

review. So today I've been playing the new

New World game, which is a brand new MMO

from the Amazon Gaming Studios. And even

though I'm a massive lover of MMOs and I'm

a professional World of Warcraft player

since 2004, um, I don't really have a lot

of positive things to say about this New

World MMO game. Now the game is currently

selling for £35 or your regional

equivalent, and unfortunately I feel like

for this price tag, the game is just not

quite up to my standards. And if I had to

sum up this game in a few words, it's

basically like your bog-standard plain

Mary Jane MMO. It's got every single

MMO trope that you could ever imagine from

every other single MMO that's ever existed

in the past, and it does nothing special,

nothing new. It's like, imagine every

other MMO that's ever existed, and it

basically just copies from all of the

other previous MMOs and doesn't really do

anything groundbreaking or interesting or

unique or even original. Take for example

the character creation menu. It's got some

hairstyles and a few cosmetic things you

can choose from. There's just not really a

whole lot of customization options

available, and for some reason most of the

faces in the game that you can choose from

are really, really ugly. So if you want to

be an ugly looking person, you'd love it,

but if you want like a cool attractive

looking character to play as, then you're

you're gonna have some difficulties. You

can't really adjust the face, you can't

really edit the individual facial features

like the nose size, lip size, chin size.

So it's a very basic character editing

system. They really need to learn a lot

from Japanese RPGs like Final Fantasy XIV.

You can make really cute, attractive anime

girls. Out of the maybe 20 faces that are

available, I found only one of the faces

attractive. I felt like I was on Tinder.

Constantly swiping left because I just

can't match anyone or find anyone who I

even find attractive in the first place.

So after spending about an hour, I finally

managed to make myself an attractive Asian

girl for my main character, and I chose

her, and I decided on this hairstyle. The

other thing you may be realizing is that

the only race you can choose to play as in

this game is human. There's no other

races. You think of other MMOs like World

of Warcraft or Star Wars Galaxies or Guild

Wars, and you could play a variety of

different species like humans, elves,

dwarves, goblins, orcs, all kinds of

different fantasy races. But in this game,

all you get are humans, and it's kind of

bland. You go into the starting area or

any of the settlements and there's just

humans everywhere. If this is supposed to

be like a fantasy setting, fantasy-based

MMO world, then I don't really feel

satisfied with only being surrounded by

humans. If I wanted just humans, I could

just go outside in the real world. So

unfortunately, I would have to give this a

2 out of 10 for fantasy immersion and

variety. So after creating my beautiful

character, you get plunged straight into

the tutorial, which is really unnecessary.

I mean, at this point, as a PC gamer, I

don't really need to be told that I need

to press the WASD buttons to be able to

move. I don't need to be told to press the

spacebar to jump. These are basic control

systems that anyone who's been playing PC

games for as long as I have I don't really

feel like I should be handheld and told

how to operate a character. I wasn't

really very impressed with the combat

system, although it's an improvement over

the traditional point-and-click and

auto-attack system from the days of World

of Warcraft and Guild Wars. It has a very

hack-and-slash, basic spammy kind of

combat system where basically you're just

pressing the left mouse button over and

over again, and you get a few special

attacks as you level up. And these special

attacks are not very interesting. They're

basically just the same as the basic

attacks, but they've got like a flashy

animation and maybe they do a little bit

of bonus damage on top. And as someone who

plays a lot of Chivalry 2, which is also a

third-person hack and slash game set in

the medieval times, I just wasn't really

impressed. The combat system in New World

just wasn't quite up to my standards,

especially compared to proper hack and

slash sword fighting games such as

Chivalry 2. The combat visuals just

weren't very satisfying, and when the

weapons connect with the enemy's bodies,

it just didn't really feel very

satisfying. I didn't really feel like

there was much weight to the attacks or

the weapons. And yeah, it was a bit

lackluster. As for the graphics of the

game, even though on the surface level it

looks quite pretty, um, it just wasn't

quite up to my standards for a game that

has been released in 2021. The graphical

fidelity is— hmm, what can I say— just a

little bit disappointing compared to other

games such as Chivalry 2. The reflections

and the lighting looks okay, but then the

textures are kind of bland. As for the

character models, I felt like I was

playing The Sims. Although the character

models don't look very cartoony, I just

couldn't help but feel like I was looking

at Sim character models when I did things

like dancing or the cheering emotes. So

after you finish the tutorial and you see

a little intro cinematic, you get placed

in the first beginner's area, like a

campsite, and you get to do the quests.

Now, the quests in MMOs have always

frustrated me. Quests in MMOs are never

any fun. They're always very grindy. They

always just tell you to go here and go

there and go and talk to this person. And

then you've got to collect a bunch of

random objects like furs or wood or stone

and then go and kill a bunch of random

monsters. Like kill 10 of this, kill 5

boars, kill 10 wolves, collect their

pelts. Or their teeth or whatever. And New

World is no different. They have exactly

the same kind of quest you would expect in

any kind of MMO. It's like they didn't

even try to put any effort into making

unique or interesting quests. They

basically just took exactly what was on

World of Warcraft, like kill 3 boars and

collect the skins. They just took that,

copy and pasted it directly into their own

game. It's so bland, it's so overdone.

If you've played any MMOs and you've done

this kind of questing system countless

times and it's not fun. You just run here,

you run there, you fight some monsters

that are not even challenging. You don't

even have to use your block button or your

rolling. You just spam the left-click

mouse button and they will just die in a

couple hits. There's no challenge in the

game whatsoever. It's really sad, but in

the first 10 or 20 minutes, I just

instantly felt bored. I just felt like I

had to do these repetitive, boring tasks

that weren't really fun and weren't really

enjoyable. But that's what MMOs are like.

You gotta level up and you get some

points, and then you can assign the points

to different weapon skills and different

character skills. It's all very

bog-standard MMO stuff. There's nothing

new or original here. I really don't know

why this game is being hyped up so much.

It doesn't do anything special. Why don't

you just stick to a different game that's

been out for years like World of Warcraft

or Guild Wars. What is the point of this

game? I don't see why they bothered making

it in the first place. Now onto the

crafting system. Obviously, as a

bog-standard MMO, it has a crafting system

just like every single other MMO has. And

I just don't understand why they keep

putting these crafting systems in.

They're so boring. You just go around,

you, you can mine rocks, or you can chop

trees down, or you can like gather bushes

and pick up sticks and twigs and random

objects and stones and stuff. And using

these materials, you can create weapons

and armor and objects. And it's just

really grindy. You go around, you just

hold down the E button, and then it will

take a couple seconds to mine a rock. You

can also skin animals, and it's just,

it's just not interesting at all. You just

hold down one button and it automatically

does it. There's no challenge. There's

nothing unique about the crafting system

either, and it's just, it's just a chore

really. You gotta go around collecting all

these different ingredients so you can

make stuff that you don't really actually

have to make. You don't actually need to

make anything because the game's so easy

in the beginning. You can just use the

basic starting weapons and it's fine. You

don't need to make any of this stuff, so

what's the point? So yeah, currently I'm

not really having an amazing time. I mean,

it's okay. I would give it a 4 out of 10

because It looks decent, it doesn't look

too bad. The gameplay and the combat isn't

absolutely terrible, it's kind of

entertaining for a little bit. It's just

there's nothing special or original about

the game, so unfortunately I won't be able

to give it a very high rating. So my

advice would be maybe don't buy the game

yet, wait for the price to come down a

little bit and wait for some extra content

to be added, then it might worth the

money. But until then, I won't be able to

give it a recommended rating. So thanks
