Why i returned my M3 Macbook Pro

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So as

you can see, I don't have the M3 MacBook

Pro anymore. I actually took it back to

the Apple Store yesterday and I refunded

it. And now my main computer is this ASUS

Flow X13, 13.4-inch screen display.

And this is going to be my main computer

for the foreseeable short-term future

until maybe the MacBook Air M3 comes out,

then I might switch to that. So today I

want to talk about why I decided to refund

the M3 MacBook Pro, why I bought it in the

first place, and why I ended up buying

this instead. It all began on Christmas

Day a couple weeks ago. I really wanted to

get myself a nice gift, and I went to the

shopping center with my girlfriend, and we

went to the Apple Store. And the MacBook

Pros and the MacBooks really, they always

catch my eye every time I go into the

store, and I really wanted to buy myself

one for myself. But the main thing holding

me back from buying a MacBook is just in

general, I do sometimes like to game. I

quite like gaming, and there are some

games on the MacBook, but not all games

are available on the MacBook. And all of

my favorite games like Rainbow Six Siege,

Diablo 4, Red Dead Redemption, they're not

available on the MacBook. So I always

hesitated at the idea of buying a MacBook.

I didn't really mind paying the extra

money for the premium of using a MacBook

because they are really nice devices. I

think the best thing about them is the

build quality and the design is just so

unique and so cool looking. And when

you're using a MacBook, it makes you feel

like you're a better person than you are.

Makes you feel like, yeah, I'm not just

some sweaty loser playing Windows video

games when I'm nearly 35. I'm on a

MacBook. I'm doing some serious

productivity, some serious work on my

business. I always had this vision of this

cool guy at the airport, and he's sitting

there waiting for his plane, and he's got

his MacBook on his lap, and he's just

typing away, doing some kind of work,

managing his online business, making money

somehow whilst he's waiting for his plane.

I thought Wow, that looks so cool. I want

to be that guy. So I wanted to get the

MacBook so I could feel like, you know,

I'm sitting there on my MacBook making

money online. So I thought to myself, if I

could just stop caring so much about video

games and actually do something with my

life, then maybe I can justify buying a

MacBook. So it was on that very day on

Christmas, I thought to myself, okay,

this is the day I stop playing video games

and I buy myself a MacBook. And I

seriously thought, yeah, I could get along

fine without video games. I haven't even

played video games in over a week. I don't

need video games. The problem is video

games actually make up quite a large part

of my online income because, you know,

I've got to play video games and then I've

got to review the video games and then I

got to make content about the video games.

So not being able to play video games or

have access to video games by having a

MacBook actually makes me make less money.

So it's kind of ironic that MacBooks are

designed for productivity and for people

who don't play games and they're working

on it. I actually am unable to do

a lot of my work on a MacBook because they

have a limited amount of games on it. So

it didn't last very long until I started

getting game paranoia. You know that

feeling when your gaming device doesn't

have access to all the games and you start

feeling very anxious and uneasy? That's

how I felt I felt like, what if some big

blockbuster hit game comes out again?

Like last year Elden Ring came out and it

was a smash hit and it was really popular

and easy to get views by making videos

about it. If another game like that comes

out this year or next year, I won't be

able to cover it because I don't have a

Windows computer. I have a MacBook. So

even though I really enjoy the MacBook and

I don't really want to play video games,

trust me, I'm kind of bored playing video

games. It just feels like a waste of time

and it's stressful and I'd rather do

something else like learn how to cook an

apple pie or clean my fish tank or watch a

YouTube video. I don't really care that

much about playing video games. It's just

for my work, I have to play video games to

get YouTube views. So because of that

reason, I couldn't commit to the no more

video game commitment thing, and I had to

return the MacBook back to the Apple Store

and get myself a proper Windows device

Windows laptop which lets me play all the

video games at really good graphics

because it's got an RTX 4050, but it's all

plasticky. I mean, the design is fine,

it's just a laptop, can't really complain

too much about that. It looks great and

everything, but it's no MacBook. It's not

made out of aluminium. Listen,

it's made out of cheap plastic. It just

feels cheap. It looks okay, but it feels—

doesn't feel premium like a luxury product

like the MacBook does. And I just don't

feel as good as I did when I used the

MacBook. When I had the MacBook open, the

cold-to-the-touch kind of feeling of it,

of the metal body and the big display— the

big display that was bright and vivid and

high resolution just looks really great

compared to this display. Is okay, but

it's just There's no comparison

between this display and the MacBook

display. This just doesn't look as good as

the MacBook Pro's display's mini OLED— or

is it mini LED? Mini, mini LED screen

on the MacBook Pro just blows this display

out of the water. And over the course of

the last few days, before actually

deciding to refund the Apple MacBook Pro,

it took me a lot of time. I did a lot of

flipping and flopping between choosing,

choosing this laptop and choosing the

MacBook, I actually flipped and flopped

maybe 4 times before coming to my

decision. Actually, one time I was sure

that I was going to keep the MacBook and I

was going to try and find a way to sell

this laptop. Now, the other problem that

influenced my decision-making was

refunding the MacBook is a lot easier than

trying to get rid of this. So I bought

this from the ASUS store in Bangkok and

you can't refund this. They said no

refunds. So if I wanted to get rid of

this, I would have to sell it. And I could

probably sell it, but then I'd lose money.

I'd probably have to set it at a discount

because who's going to buy this for the

same price that you can buy it brand new?

I'm gonna have to give them a discount,

maybe like 10% discount,

15% discount, and I'll lose money. But if

I take the MacBook back to the Apple

Store, they'll give me a full refund, no

questions asked. I just have to turn it

back in, return it back in with the

receipt, and then wait a few days and I'll

get all my money back if the exchange rate

is still good. I had the 8GB M3 MacBook

Pro, and it was great. It was really

smooth, really quick, really good. The

only time I found the 8GB RAM to be kind

of not enough and kind of limiting was

when I had everything open, you know,

like video editing, streaming software,

video game open, Discord, multiple tabs on

Safari. Then I was using probably like

16GB of RAM. I was using about 7GB

physical and like 8GB swap memory, which

is a lot of RAM to be using. And yes, it

got slow. It got noticeably stuttery and

slow, and the video game I had open

crashed when I tried switching between the

game and outside of the game. It did, it

did just crash a few times. So yes, I

would say 8GB of RAM is not enough if

you're going to be doing that much

multitasking. For everything else, it's

completely fine. I could edit videos on

it, it was smooth. I could web browse, I

could play games. But the problem was I

had to do each of these things I had to

focus on doing just one task at a time. I

couldn't like multitask as much as I

wanted to. So I thought if I was going to

decide to keep the MacBook, I wouldn't

even want this MacBook. So if I do flip

again and decide to try and sell this,

because I am thinking maybe the MacBook

Air M3 that comes out later this year

would be quite interesting because I don't

feel like I need the Pro processor. I

would be fine on the Air, but I want to

wait for the next M3 Air and get 16GB

of RAM. So what I'd do is, um, because,

you know, in the back of my mind I think

maybe I do still want a MacBook, I

wouldn't want that MacBook. So I'm glad I

returned it. I need more RAM. And what I

might do is, after using this for a while,

I might put this onto the marketplace and

try and sell it, obviously at a slight

loss, and then get the MacBook Air M3

and get 16GB of RAM with that. So that

should be lightweight Portable, still good

M3 chip and 16GB RAM. I'm not really going

to game on it. I'm going to think to

myself again, yeah, I don't really care

about gaming. My video game reviews don't

really get many views anyway, so what's

the point sacrificing being able to use a

MacBook when I'm not even getting like

millions of views doing video game

content? And then maybe I would take this

back and then consider getting one of the

new MacBook Airs. I would get the MacBook

Air M2 But I'm not going to get it knowing

that the M3 is just around the corner. So

this is not the end of the saga for the

MacBooks. I might actually flip-flop again

and go back to getting a MacBook if I can

sell this at a good price in the coming

months. Now the problem is I don't have a

lot of time left before I have to go to

Japan. I just have a few months and I

don't know how to sell things in Japan. I

know how to sell things in Thailand, but I

don't know how to do it in Japan. So I

don't know how I'm going to sell this.

Outside of Thailand unless I just keep it

with me and then sell it in the UK. So

yeah, for now I'm gonna keep this for

gaming and portability whilst also having

in the back of my mind the idea of selling

this and also getting a new MacBook.
