why i hate the iPhone 15

I just finished watching the iPhone Apple

launch event and oh my God, it was

probably the most boring iPhone I've ever

seen. I'm using an iPhone 12 mini and I

was considering upgrading to the iPhone 15

because it's been a few years, but I don't

think I'm gonna be wasting my money on

this iPhone 15. So what I got from the

live event that I would consider to be the

main new features of the iPhone 15— so

there's gonna be a new charging port,

USB-C. I don't really see how anyone can

get excited over a charging port. They're

only changing it because the EU made them

change it. It's not like they want to

change it. The Dynamic Island is coming to

all of the phones, which I never really

cared about. The Dynamic Island, it's just

like a little black circle thing that you

can press and tap on to look at

notifications or do like a quick reply to

people. It's so boring. No one messages me

anyway. Who am I going to do a quick reply

to? I don't really fly much, so I don't

really care about being able to check my

flight details on a little Dynamic Island

display. And then there's all this fuss

about the titanium, how it's supposed to

be more durable. Stronger and lighter than

the steel, but it's still gonna scratch

and get marks on it, isn't it? It's not

bulletproof. And then the cameras— 48

megapixels, as if anyone really wants 48

megapixels. My phone has like 12

megapixels and it's completely fine. I

don't want to take really fancy

professional-looking photos or portrait

photos. They keep going on about how, oh,

you could take a photo and then you could

change it into a portrait mode photo and

blur out the background, when I really

don't care because I don't take portrait

photos. I don't go around snapping

snapping portrait pics of all my friends

that I don't have, or my family that I

don't even live with. I'm not going around

taking people's pictures all the time,

and I don't really care that much about

having like a professional-looking

blurred-out background. They showed all

these photos of how the new camera takes

such amazing photos, but they literally

look the same as the photos from all of

the previous iPhones. You know, it's just

like a Black woman with very colorful

clothing or very colorful hair. I really

wouldn't be able to tell the difference if

you took photos on the iPhone 12, 13, 14,

and 15 and me to pick the one from the 15.

They all look literally the same. And then

they have the 5x optical zoom, the

periscope camera in the iPhone Pro Max

version, when the periscope 5x optical

zoom should really be in all of the iPhone

15s. Because without the 5x zoom, the

cameras in the non-Pro Max version of the

iPhone 15 just look kind of like the same

as all the other iPhones. The 5x zoom is

the only thing that would make it slightly

interesting. But then again, I don't

really take loads of photos where I need

to zoom in that much. Actually, I don't

think I've even used my camera on my

iPhone in weeks, probably months. Last

time I took a photo was probably like 2

months ago when I decided to take a photo

of my grocery shopping just to show how

much food I was able to buy for only 100

baht in Thailand. But apart from that, I

haven't really been taking photos. I

guess, I don't know, I grew out of the

whole, oh, I want to take photos of

everything and put it online kind of phase

where I don't really want to or I don't

really care about taking photos anymore.

I don't really have anything that I want

to take photos of apart from maybe my

shrimp and my fish in my fish tank. Then

they were saying this new A17 chip is

powerful enough to play console games and

that the new brand new Assassin's Creed is

going to come out on iPhone as well. And

I'm just thinking, who's actually

seriously going to play console games on

an iPhone with a touchscreen unless

there's some kind of controller like the

Sony Backbone that's going to work with it

and be able to play these games? Then I

don't see why you would spend— I mean, if

you're like a serious gamer, why would you

really want to use an iPhone to play games

on when you could just play it on your

gaming laptop or your Steam Deck or your

Switch? I wonder if the A17 chip is strong

enough to play Starfield. Imagine playing

Starfield on your phone and then the phone

just melts or blows up because it gets so

hot. Like, if you want to do serious

gaming on a phone, sure, the chip might be

able to handle it and it might be powerful

enough, but what about cooling? Isn't the

phone just going to get really hot if

there's no fans and there's no liquid

cooling or anything like that? The Action

Button is is kind of interesting, I guess.

I like the way you can map any app to the

Action Button. I personally would map

maybe YouTube to the Action Button, or

maybe, maybe Discord, or maybe Twitter,

or maybe Gmail. Actually, it would be nice

if they just added like 5 Action Buttons

all down the side of the phone so I can

just press a physical button and it opens

an app of my choice. I think it would be

nice if the physical buttons came back to

phones because phones used to have a lot

of buttons. If you ever had a phone back

in the '90s or the 2000s, they were all

covered in buttons. And then as we got

smartphones, all the buttons just started

to disappear. And it's kind of nice to see

the buttons starting to come back with the

Action Button. I would like more buttons

actually. And there were some other

features, but they're just too boring to

even talk about. So I don't think I'll be

buying this iPhone 15. I'll probably wait

until next year, see if the iPhone 16 is a

bit more interesting. But for now, the

iPhone 12 Mini is still just fine for me.

There's nothing really wrong with it.

There's nothing really I would want to

change about it.
