early. When I was back home in England,

6 because that means I only have a few

hours. It'll be different when I'm in

want to message him. It's like no one

knows how to get good internet for IRL

streaming. I need some IRL streaming

friends. See, this is why not having

friends can be annoying. So I spent all

evening yesterday trying to find out a

good way to get unlimited internet,

but it seems like there's no way to get

unlimited internet in Japan. They claim

it's unlimited, But then you read the

small print and then it says if you exceed

over 15 gigabytes, then you'll get

throttled down to like 200 kilobits a

second, which is rubbish. You can't stream

at 200 kilobits.

Oh yeah, he posted a Twitter video, I

It seems like he came back to Thailand

after Laos. His last video shows he was

in Thailand on the 30th of January. So I

don't know if Chihiro came with him back

to Thailand again. That means they were in

Thailand on the 9th of January up until

the 30th, and in between they went to

Laos. That is over 20 days abroad,

and I don't think Chihiro can take so many

days off work. She can only take

14 days of paid holiday. So I'm pretty

sure she went back to Japan alone whilst

he just stayed in Thailand to make travel

stuff, because if he's getting good views

doing travel stuff, then he's got to keep

traveling. That's the problem with travel

channels. Imagine you go viral doing

travel videos and all your audience wants

to see is travel stuff. Then when you stop

traveling, your audience is not going to

watch. What are they going to watch?

So if he keeps doing the travel stuff,

he's going to grow a travel audience, but

then he's going to be forced into doing

travel content. And Chihiro has a job, so

she can't keep coming with him. So I'm

pretty sure she went home. By herself

whilst he carried on traveling to make his

content. That's what I would do if my

channel was blowing up, getting like 100K

views from traveling. You think I'm just

going to go back home to boring Japan

doing minimalist stuff? I'd keep traveling

to maximize on the views.

He gets more views than Sam Pepper. Sam

Pepper's in Thailand now as well trying to

do IRL and make viral content, and he's

getting less views than I get. He's

getting like 5 or 6k views and he's got 2

million subs. So @SushiVlogs getting more

views than Sam Pepper, who's got 2 million

subs. When you got a dead channel, it's

really hard to get views anymore. What

would you do? Do you try and grow the

channel, or do you just try and cater to

whoever's left watching? Do I think

YouTube has shadowbanned you? No, because

I got 26k views on my PewDiePie video.

It's just I need to change my content

because my— what used to work doesn't work

anymore. It's like the British Empire.

What worked for hundreds of years stopped

working, and then they had to— they can't

keep trying to do what used to work

because it doesn't work anymore, so they

had to change what they did. Nothing lasts

When I'm in Japan, I want to do bike

guesthouse. And I mean, I could livestream

in the guesthouse like this and just point

the camera at the wall so people don't

find out where I am. But I don't like the

close proximity of the other people there,

and then they'll be able to hear me and

they might report me to the manager

I've got this idea for a cycling stream.

What if I do a cycling stream with a

timer? And then if

the timer gets to zero, I get to go back

home. But as long as the time is going, I

have to keep cycling. And then the timer

goes up when I get a donation. Imagine if

it keeps going up, I even eventually end

up cycling all the way to Tokyo.

Do you think that would be fun? But then

when it reaches zero, I have to cycle all

the way back.

I'd have to do maybe $1 equals— $1

equals 10 minutes. So if I

get a $10 donation, that would be nearly

2 hours, 100 minutes. So I don't get that

many donos, so I can't do like one— I

can't do like what Ice is doing, $1 per

minute. Or maybe

$1 equals 1 day. That would never end

unless I just stopped getting donations.

I'm sure someone would donate like $1 to

extend it for a day. The problem is

internet. I can't find a way to get

internet unlimited that's truly unlimited.

The best I can find is an eSIM which has

20 gigabytes of data for $26,

and I calculated that if I stream at

1000 bitrate, I can stream for about 40

hours on 20 gigabytes. It's a

weird calculation you have to do to

work out how much gigabytes of data it's

going to use to stream at a certain

bitrate. Now I'm streaming on 2500

kilobits. And to stream at 720p, you have

to stream at least 2,500 bitrate kilobits

To stream at 1080, you got— for 720, it's

between 2,500 and 4,500.

But if I stream at 2,500, that would be

about 1 gigabyte an hour.

I could stream maybe 20 hours. 2,500

divided by 8 divided by 10,024—

I mean, 1,024 times by 36,000

would be 1.1 gigabytes an hour. So if

I do a 10-hour stream, that would be 10

gigabytes. 20 hours?

Yeah, I could do 20 hours of 720p

streaming, it will cost me $26 to get the

SIM card. But that's the

cheapest I can find. There's a pocket

Wi-Fi unlimited data. They claim it's

unlimited data. Don't know if it actually

is. It's called japanwireless.com. They

charge $120 for an unlimited pocket Wi-Fi.

How long are you staying in Japan? What if

I do like a subathon and if it gets to

zero, I go back to Thailand? If you want

me to stay in Japan, you got to donate to

keep the timer going. That would be

interesting. I guess if people don't care,

then I'll just go back to Thailand.

Back to my girlfriend.

I bought— I tested out an eSIM yesterday.

I never really thought about an eSIM

before, so it's kind of new. Well, not

really new, but I never considered it

before. There's a website where they've

got eSIMs. They've got an unlimited data

Thailand eSIM for $10 for 8 days. But it

says in small print, after 15 gigabytes,

your speed goes down to 380 kilobits,

which is rubbish.

So it's not actually unlimited. You get 15

gigabytes of unlimited unthrottled speed.

They only— they can technically say it's

unlimited because it is unlimited. It's

just after 15 gigabytes, the speed goes

down.

So I don't know how I can get unlimited

data. I have to keep buying SIM cards,

which is gonna cost too much money.

$26 for a 20GB SIM card is the

cheapest I could find. They've got prepaid

SIM cards in Yodobashi, but I don't think

they're good value for money. They're like

¥5,000 for 5GB.

There's— I don't know why Japan makes it

so difficult. In Thailand, I can easily

get an unlimited SIM card with a Thai

phone number. It's just like a normal Thai

SIM card. But in Japan, there's

regulations that prevent foreigners,

foreigners without a visa from getting a

Japanese phone number. They make it really

difficult. So you need to have a Japanese

bank account and a visa residency status.

If you can't show this, they won't let you

get a phone contract in Japan. The only

way to get like a phone contract is if you

have a Japanese girlfriend or wife or you

actually live in Japan. If you're just a

tourist there, then you're pretty much

screwed. I went to Vietnam, straight away

you get off the plane and they're there

selling unlimited SIM cards. That's

actually unlimited, not throttled.

Just get on the train back, the stream—

bike stream is a good idea. Yeah, if it

reaches zero, I could just find the

nearest train station, get on the train

with the bike. It would be annoying though

if I cycled all the way to Nagoya or

something. The train back to Nagoya from

Nagoya to Orociko would be at least an

hour.

So if anyone's got a good idea for how to

get internet to do some long streams, I

would be interested in knowing.

no, I don't think it's a good time

to buy crypto.

I had crypto ages ago, but I sold it when

I had 100% gain.

I don't know what these IRL streamers in

Japan are using. I think they probably

have Japanese friends or friends who live

in Japan who can hook them up and help

them get a proper Japanese SIM card.

There's no way they're just buying prepaid

SIMs. They're definitely using some kind

of Japanese contract phone.

It's hard for me to get it as someone who

doesn't have any Japanese friends or

connections.

It would require quite a lot of trust

because they would have to sign up for a

contract in their name and then give it to

me, and then I would have to give them the

money, wouldn't I? It's kind of annoying

to have to do that. If someone asked me to

do that, I'd be like, uh, no thanks,

can't be bothered. I have to go all the

way to SoftBank, fill out a contract,

set up a direct debit payment plan for

you, and I don't even know you very well.

And then I have to trust that you're going

to keep giving me the money every month,

unless you're just going to pay everything

up front. It's going to cost me $60

a month if I was living in Japan and I

could get my own phone contract. So I

don't know anyone who would do that for

I don't like relying on people because it

means I can't talk shit about them. If I

talk shit about them, they're not going to

by myself. I don't like people doing

things for me. It's like you owe them a

20GB SIM for $26 sounds fine.

But I'd want at least 2 so I have a stable

connection, maybe 3. I want

to try the pocket Wi-Fi because it claims

it's truly unlimited, so I'll get the

pocket Wi-Fi plus the eSIM, give me 2

connections. For 20GB,

I could do a pretty damn long stream even

at 720p.

So there's 8 gigabit seconds in

a gigabyte second. There's gigabits and

gigabytes. It's so weird. So you have to

divide it by 8 and then times it by 60

seconds, then times that by 60 minutes to

get how much data you'd use in an hour. I

think there's just a calculator though.

Does all this. You just input the data.

But I found the formula. It's bitrate

divided by 8 divided by 1024 times

3600. I don't know what those numbers

stand for. And then you divide that by

1000 and it comes to 1.1 gigabytes

of data per hour of

streaming. So I could do just under 20

hours of streaming with a

20GB eSIM.

It should be enough for one stream. I

don't think I would just do non-stop

streaming like Ice is doing, because if I

was doing that, I mean, it would

cost me $26 a day to keep getting SIMs.

In a month, that'll cost me $780 on the

SIM card, and I would need 2 of those. So

times 2, it's $1,500 on

SIM. That's insane. I can't do that.

I need to get a way to have unlimited

traveling in Japan are not going to be

live streaming. They just need a bit of

internet to check Google Maps and check

their email, watch a bit of YouTube. So

they don't get lost outside. So for the

If I can get a new girlfriend, she would

help me. It's a great thing about having a

girlfriend is they do help a lot with with

helping you rent an apartment for cheap,

helping you get a phone number, helping

you get stuff that tourists wouldn't be

able to get usually.

But it would kind of suck if I spend more

money on Sims and stuff than I actually

make from streaming.
