Nintendo is Dead - Switch 2 is a disappointment

So recently I got myself a brand new

Nintendo Switch 2, and it's kind of sad to

say and admit this, but it seems like

Nintendo is kind of dead, and it kind of

shows with the latest iteration of the

most popular console, the Switch, in the

Switch 2. So apart from the obvious

upgrades which are extremely easy to pull

off, like improving the GPU and the CPU by

just basically putting in a latest, more

modern processor and a more modern

graphics card, which it isn't exactly

rocket science. You just go and get a new

one and put it inside of your new device,

and then now you can play more up-to-date

games from a couple years ago. Definitely

not powerful enough to play modern games

like 2025 games or even 2024 games, so the

newest games you can play are like 3 to 5

years old, which I guess is a bit of an

improvement. So yeah, they've done the

obvious improvements to the graphical

fidelity of it, but apart from that, the

experience you get from the Switch 2 is

basically exactly the same as what you

expect from the original Switch. You've

got the Joy-Cons, you've got touchscreen,

you've got the dock, you've controllers.

And that's it really, nothing has changed

at all. Okay, you've got the magnetically

attachable Joy-Cons to the device, which I

don't think anyone actually cares about.

Like, I had no problem slotting the

Joy-Cons in and letting them click in

place. I don't really see how them being

magnetically attachable really makes any

difference or improves anything. I don't

really care if they attach magnetically or

not. And then you've also got the way that

they turn into a mouse. So if you detach

one of the Joy-Cons, like Like that.

It's got an optical sensor on the bottom,

and you're supposed to be able to use it

like a mouse. And these top buttons are

supposed to be left-click and right-click.

Now, I don't know whose crazy idea it was

to do that. Who in their right mind would

want to use this as a mouse? It's so

uncomfortable. It's too thin, and there's

no stability on the bottom. There's no

flat bottom. It's just like a very narrow

ridge. And I don't know why you'd want to

use this as a mouse. To do what? What are

you going to do on the Switch that it

needs a mouse? I think the only way this

would make sense if it came with some kind

of housing that you slot the Joy-Con into

and it turns into more of a mouse-shaped

mouse. But I still don't really know why

you'd want to use a mouse with a Switch 2.

It's not a computer, it's not like you're

going to be web browsing. You can't even

web browse on it because there's no web

browser. So it's the exact same experience

that you would expect from the original

Switch, but the screen's a bit bigger,

the graphics are a bit better, it runs a

bit smoother. It doesn't blow you away

though. It's not going to blow your mind.

You're not going to be playing GTA 6 or

GTA 5 even, or anything really modern on

this device. You're going to be able to

play modern games from 2020, '22, '23,

that kind of era of gaming. So you're not

going to play latest games on it if you

wanted to play latest PC games. So it's

kind of sad to see that Nintendo's kind of

lost its spark when it comes to

innovation. I feel like ever since the Wii

and the original Switch, they haven't

really come up with anything that's blown

anyone away. This is It's a nice device,

don't get me wrong. It looks nice, it

plays well, it's fast, it looks good. It

ticks all the boxes, but it doesn't do

anything new or revolutionary. And I feel

like with Nintendo, they are very lazy.

They're very sleazy. Like the way they go

after Palworld just because Palworld is

kind of copying Pokémon was a bit too

spaggery. They also never seem to come up

with new games. It's always the same old

games year after year after year. Zelda,

Mario, Kirby, Metroid. Donkey Kong,

what else, you know, the same old

franchises they've been milking for the

last 30 years. They never come up with any

new games and they just find some new way

to milk the existing game. For example,

there's no new Zelda game yet for the

Switch 2, but instead they're just

advertising Tears of the Kingdom and

Breath of the Wild with faster graphics,

better resolution, 60 FPS, and improved

textures, but you gotta pay for it. So you

gotta pay £10 or something just to get 60

FPS. So it's like, okay, they've given 60

FPS, which Switch gamers have been

demanding for years because 30 FPS is just

a joke. So they've now given us 60 FPS,

but you don't get it unless you pay for

the extra improvement packs. You would

think by paying for the console itself,

the £400, that would give you the access

to the 60 FPS. But no, you got to pay on

top of that extra improvement prices,

which is so— it is such a ripoff. And

another reason why I feel like Nintendo

has really fallen off with this Switch 2

launch is the fact that I was able to buy

this on day one. I got this ordered. I

didn't even preorder it. I wasn't even

invited to the special preorder thing

because I didn't have enough game hours on

my Nintendo account because I just don't

really play Switch that much recently. So

I didn't even get invited to the special

preorder thingy and it wasn't even

necessary. They were like, oh, you need

preorder thingy 'cause it's gonna sell out

everywhere. Uh, no, I was able to buy this

last minute the day before it was released

on Amazon, and it came the next day.

They've got plenty of stock. The fact that

this is not out of stock kind of shows you

that people don't really care about it.

When the first Switch came out, it was

really hard to get because it was out of

stock. When the PS5 came out, it was

really hard to get because it was out of

stock. When the Steam Deck came out, it

was really hard to get when it first came

out because it was out of stock. The Steam

Deck Everyone was raving about the Steam

Deck. The Steam Deck was so much more

popular when it came out than when this

came out. So if you go into Google Trends

and you look up the Steam Deck popularity

versus the Switch 2 popularity compared to

when they came out, the Steam Deck

destroys the Switch 2 in terms of hype and

trendingness. This Switch 2 is barely

trending. Everyone's like, oh, fed up. I

don't care about the Switch 2. It's just

the same old Nintendo money-grabbing

experience. And they've kind of got a

point there. The fact that I could pick

this up without any problems at all and

get it next day without any stock issues

kind of shows you that the people aren't

rushing out there to buy this and the

shops have plenty of stock, which is a

bad, bad sign for Nintendo.

Unfortunately, Nintendo just seems kind of

stupid. They're like stuck in the olden

days where they think that being really

tough on people trying to profit off of

the success is a good idea when it's

really not. They're making their fans turn

against them by doing stupid things like,

I don't know, not being happy with people

playing Nintendo games on YouTube or going

after small companies like Palworld just

because they make a game that's similar to

Pokémon but is better than any Pokémon

game in every single way. And it has

everything that all Pokémon fans would be

asking from a Pokémon fan— I mean, from a

Pokémon game. But Nintendo didn't want to

make it, so instead Palworld had to make

it, and then Nintendo went after them.

And then on top of that, trying to charge

you extra money just so you can unlock

options like improved FPS and textures is

kind of scummy. And I think a lot of

people are getting fed up with Nintendo

and starting to boycott them. And I think

they are going to start to regret some of

the decisions to make, and they're really

going to have to start modernizing in the

way that they interact with the fan base,

because I don't think a lot of fans are

very happy with Nintendo right now. But I

guess in conclusion, I wouldn't really be

super surprised if it turns out the Switch

2 was a bit of a flop. Didn't really make

them that much money compared to the

original Switch. Also, the other problem

is a lot of people already have Switches,

and if you don't give them a good reason

to upgrade to the Switch 2, why are they

going to get rid of their Switch, which

they probably might have just gotten

recently, last Christmas or Christmas or 2

ago? They just recently got their Switch,

and there's not really a big difference

from the Switch 2 to the original Switch,

unfortunately, apart from just, you know,

software speed improvements. There's games

on it that you can't really play on the

original Switch because it's not powerful

enough. So this is much more power. It is

a big jump in in terms of power, I guess.

So you can play better games. But apart

from that, it doesn't really do anything

differently to the Switch that would tempt

people away. Because to be honest, Switch

gamers, they don't really play games that

are very demanding. They play old games.

They like playing stuff like Wind Waker or

GoldenEye or even retro games. And you

just don't really need a lot of power to

play these games. If you want to play PC

games that are a couple years old, then

yeah, this now has the power to be able to

do so. But then if that's really what

you're interested in, you could have just

gotten a gaming laptop or a Steam Deck or

an ROG Ally, because then you have the

full access to Steam games, not just a

very small selection that are coming to

Switch 2. So yeah, I don't know what's—

what Nintendo doing. I feel like

Nintendo's kind of dying off right now and
