1 year of vlogging - looking at my old videos

So I thought it'd be funny to have a look

at my old videos. I've been doing YouTube

for about almost a year now, and I feel

like I've changed a lot, especially my

hairstyle. I mean, look at this. Oh,

back then I was using a Sony A5000,

so video quality is actually better than

it is now because now I'm just using my

smartphone most of the time. I used to

have this silly intro at the beginning.

This is when I went to Norway last

year. Where am

I? There I am.

I was so awkward. I was, I was so— I

really wanted to make a vlog, like

talking, but I was so nervous I couldn't

actually do it. So what happened was I

just ended up pointing the camera at my

face and not, not saying anything,

not even making any facial expressions.

I was like practicing, I guess. It was

just so scary just pointing the camera at

myself. I felt so stupid.

That's all I could do. All I could do is

wave.

So that was like the aeroplane one.

I had loads more videos, but I deleted

like 700 videos because they were just so

bad and boring. Oh, this one's really bad

as well. This is when my sister got a new

laptop. Look at my hair.

My hair was terrible back then. This is—

this wasn't even a year ago. And I had

like really long hair and I was really

scared to cut it because every time I cut

it shorter, I felt like, oh, my hair's so

short, it looks terrible now. But now that

I look back at it, oh my God, what was I

thinking?

I look so stupid. I'm like really nervous.

bad. I had background music, but it was

too loud, and my voice is so low.

My voice is so quiet because I was so

embarrassed that people will hear me

speaking to a camera.

Yeah, my sister bought this new laptop and

And then a few days later, she dropped it

and the whole screen broke, and she had to

buy a new screen. No, she had to buy a new

laptop. I remember she had to actually

refund this one, and then she bought a new

one, the same model. And some guy tried to

fix the screen, but it made it even worse.

What else did I have?

I also had this one. Actually has Nearly

900 views. Why does PewDiePie have so many

subscribers? Look at this. This one

I was actually trying to make an effort to

look like energetic and lively, and I did

all these stupid hand gestures because I

saw other YouTubers doing it. So I kind of

like forced myself to do it, and I used to

record audio on my MacBook separately.

My hair, my hair is so bad. It's like

terrible. I don't know what I was

thinking. Right now I have pretty short

hair and I really like it, and I wish I

cut it shorter, like, faster.

But the camera actually looks really good,

doesn't it? This was on the Sony A5000.

It blurred out the background so nicely.

was like trying to remember what I was

going to say, and I kept messing up and

I've got loads of travel videos when I

went to Norway.

There's my cat. And then I started making

a game for iPhone, so I have loads of

coding videos.

And then, all right, we have the time when

I bought the Samsung S6. I did a few

videos on that.

Uh, you can add narration, you can add

text. There's only one thing I don't like

about this camera, and it's the audio.

The audio sounds great. Yeah, I had like

all these problems with the audio on the

Samsung. Kept making these popping noises

like randomly.

I think I sold my Sony about that time

because I decided I just wanted to make

videos on a smartphone, not carry a camera

around. And then we went to English

courses, learned how to teach English as a

foreign language. That was a complete

waste of time. And then I actually bought

a new Sony camera. I bought the Sony

A5100. Yeah, I only

used it for about 5 days and I returned it

back to Amazon. Such a waste of time.

I kind of wish I kept it now. My cat.

It's called image stabilization. Also, my

skin was really bad back then. It was only

a year ago, but I had all these pimples.

I had so many pimples, like bad acne.

Right now my skin's really good. I don't

have any spots anywhere. I don't know why.

Maybe it's like a stress thing.

This camera looks so good. Stabilization

was good. It's not too shaky even though

I'm walking up and down. Background's

blurred out really nicely. I really want

this camera now. I really want to buy it

back.

I still have this hat. Where is it? I'll

show you down here. It's down there. I'll

probably wear it when weather starts to

get a bit colder.

It's just interesting, you know, it's only

been a year, but I feel like I've changed

a lot. I speak a lot more confidently.

Um, I've cut my ridiculous looking hair

finally. There's like a period in every

guy's life, like in his early 20s, when he

experiments with long hair, and then he

nears his 30s, and then he realizes he

looks like a complete idiot, and then he

cuts it off. I feel like that happens to a

lot of guys.

What else do I have then? Yeah, the

beginning of the travel vlogs. Korea.

First time on a penny board.

Going to Korea. I actually nearly missed

my aeroplane because, oh my God,

I started to cut my hair. Like, it was

getting shorter and shorter, and I started

to realize I actually look better with

shorter hair, not long hair. We went to

Heathrow, and then I was actually

able to make a video, a vlog, in the

airport without feeling too stupid. So I

feel like I made a lot of progress

compared to the Norway time. Oh yeah,

look, it says I nearly missed my flight

filming this. I nearly did. I sat down

next to the gate and there were all these

people sitting next to me waiting, and I

was so concentrated on making these

aeroplane videos. Like an hour later, I

looked up and everyone was gone. I was

like, oh my God, where is everyone? And

then they were doing the last boarding

calls on the announcer. I had to run

over. I was like the last person to get on

the plane. It was so scary.

Yeah, I actually feel quite proud. I was

actually able to make a vlog in public.

Back a year ago when I went to Norway, I

was just so nervous and I just couldn't do

it. It was just terrifying. I feel

like I've made a lot of progress, like

confidence-wise.

That was the beginning of Korea.

Interesting. It's fun to look at your

older videos, like after a year, look back

on them. You remember all the All the

memories come back to you. Oh, there's the

time I found the dog. That was funny.

It's like this huge dog just came into my

garden, and then I started feeding it ham

and sausages, and then I showed it to my

dad and my dad got angry. It was so fun

to play with it. Like, you just throw

stuff and it just ran around and chased

stuff, and it was like so happy.

My hair looks terrible. Cut your hair,

for God's sake! Everyone kept telling me

to cut my hair, especially my mum. She

kept saying, cut your hair, Daniel, it

looks like a helmet. And I used to get

angry because I thought it looked really

nice. Yeah, I should have cut it.

I really miss this camera, Sony A5000. We

need to buy it again.

So that was a look at my older videos.

Kind of, kind of funny, kind of cringy at

the same time. It's fun, I enjoy it.
