This is really low light. You can't really

get much lower light than this.

Let's go to wide angle. That's pretty

crappy. Normal lens

is a lot better, but it seems to have

problems focusing. There you go.

Yeah, the focus is very sluggish when,

when it's this dark, but what can you

expect? Can't really expect a lot.

The wide angle is— wide angle lens is just

terrible in low light. It's just

absolutely terrible.

I think I just broke the coffee machine

again. Every time I clean it and I put it

all back together and I press start,

nothing comes out. I don't know what I'm

doing wrong. I'm following the procedure,

I'm following what they told me how to,

how to clean it, and every time I do it I

press the button to do like a test coffee,

nothing comes out. And then the Bangladesh

guy, he like presses— he does something to

it, but he never shows me what he does.

He always says, that's okay, Daniel, you

can go on your break now. So I don't know

how to fix— I don't know what I'm doing

wrong because he doesn't show me how he's

fixing it. So it's kind of frustrating. I

ask him, how did you fix it? He doesn't

really explain. He just says something

really vague like, oh, I just, I just did

this, I just pressed this. I mean, press

what? What did you do? Why won't he tell

me? I swear it's a conspiracy. It's like

he doesn't want me to know how to do the

coffee machine properly. Why? I wonder

why. Guys,

I don't know if you can see this or not.

Can you see the stars? I'm pretty sure you

can see one. Look right in the center of

the screen. Is that a

star or is it a plane? Sometimes I can't

tell, but I can actually see quite

a few stars. Oops, nearly dropped my

phone. Yeah, I can actually see a few

stars and they're just up there. They're

They're just twinkling, and it just looks

so strange. It makes you feel so small and

insignificant. Billions of miles away,

there are other stars just like our sun.

They're doing the exact same thing,

burning. These stars that I'm looking at

right now, they might not even exist now.

The light traveling to me The light that I

can see that's coming from these stars

would have taken bazillions of years to

reach my eyes, and I'm just receiving the

light. Those stars could be long gone by

now. Who knows?

Look at them, they're just twinkling.

Sometimes it's nice to sit here, look at

the stars. And you realize how small

you are, how little your life matters.

You're just nothing. You're just a speck.

Just makes me wonder, do those stars that

you can see in the sky— they must have

planets orbiting them.

Just wonder if there's a planet like ours

orbiting at least one of those stars that

you can see. Maybe there's life forms

on it that are staring into the sky, the

same as me. Maybe they can see our sun.

It's unlikely, isn't it? Just feels kind

of lonely, doesn't it? Just how huge is

space, and that the only intelligent

life forms are us and can't be true.

There must be, must be other life forms.

Just makes you wonder, doesn't it?

It's interesting. I like stuff like that.

It's one of the reasons why sci-fi is my

favorite kind of movie or TV show. I just

love the whole idea of exploring space and

encountering alien species I

don't know why, I just get kind of

emotional when I see stars. It just, it

kind of puts your life into perspective.

It lets you step back a bit and look at

the bigger picture.

Sometimes we get so obsessed with little

things, like little problems, little

things that are happening at work or

Obsessing over new phones or new cameras.

Really, none of those things matter.

Nothing really matters.

Then what does matter? Who knows?

Maybe nothing matters in the end.

It's just about— it's just about life.

Producing more life.

Maybe it's better not to find alien life

forms. What if they— what if they're so

much more technologically advanced than us

and they just wipe us out or enslave us?

That's kind of scary. Maybe it's better

that we've been unfound up until now.

Maybe we're just lucky. That this huge

alien empire hasn't managed to find us yet

and enslave us or wipe us out yet.

That's one way of thinking about it.

Maybe we should stop sending stuff into

space, stop sending rockets all over the

place, because what if the aliens find it

and then they track our planet down? They

realize our planet is rich in resources.

And they come and colonize us. That's— we

don't want that. We don't have the

technology to fight off an alien species

yet. If they're capable of that

kind of space travel, then obviously

they're going to be more advanced than us.

They're going to have superior weaponry.

So let's just try and stay hidden.

There might be bigger fish out there. I'm

quite impressed how this camera looks like

in low light. I keep forgetting where the

camera is. It's down here, isn't it? Down

here. Keep wanting to look up, but it's

not there. I can't find it. It looks

pretty good, doesn't it? There's not much

noise. The quality is still good.

Quite impressed. It does look a lot better

than the Samsung. What do you think?

Am I wrong? Why am I stroking my

hair? I don't know. Look at this, look, I

got more interesting crisp flavors. Bacon

it just going to be the same as the smoky

smoky bacon flavor but without the

smokiness. And I also have Sausage

and brown sauce. I almost said brown

I really wanted to make a video.

Whoever invented the SIM tray slot that

goes into your phone, It's a bloody idiot.

It took me ages trying to open that thing.

I don't have one of those special SIM card

tray slot keys, so I used— you know the

dentist has like a metal pick to pick out

plaque? I have one of those, and I was

trying to pick it open with that. It took

ages, and I scratched up my phone. It's

all rough now where the metal got

scratched, but I did manage to finally pry

it open. And I got my 32GB microSD

card slotted in there.

Why does it have to rain when I wake up?

Now how am I gonna make a video?

Don't run away. I think it's

stopped raining. Clouds are starting to

clear. Oh look, is that a little glimpse

of the sun? Is the sun over there? No,

the sun should be over here. What am I

talking about? Look at those clouds. It

finally stopped raining. It's so nice, so

nice to make a video outside. It just

feels so much more open, feel more

relaxed. When I make it inside, I don't

know, you have to worry about lighting.

Is my face visible? Is my face all covered

in shadow? But when you come outside,

everywhere's just well lit. The sun does a

very good job at lighting stuff up. I was

kind of worried, am I gonna miss— is the

whole day gonna go past and I'm not gonna

be able to go outside because of the rain?

That would have just been really

depressing. I don't want to wake up, stay

inside, and then wait for it to go dark

and then not be able to go outside and see

stuff. It's just, it's just sad.

So as I was saying before, yeah, I got the

SIM card tray slot open and I put in my

32GB microSD card, which I thought that

I'd never get to use. And it's so nice

having expandable storage. I now have

about 50GB of storage available just

to do whatever I want with. Videos,

images. I don't really play that many

games, so that doesn't really matter, but

I was always having problems with my

Samsung. They're running out of storage

space, and it was so frustrating. And it's

so liberating being able to put in an SD

card. I don't know why they don't all do

that. It's a rabbit. Can you see?

There it goes. Somewhere there.

Samsung took away the SD card slot

function on the S6. But they put it back

on the S7. iPhone don't even let you put

expandable storage because they want to

charge you an extra $100 so you can

upgrade to the next storage level because

they're bloody con artists, and people

just buy it anyway because they have too

much money. At least there's some sensible

phone makers. LG are pretty good. They're

not really that popular though. Everyone

seems to go for either iPhone or Samsung.

And then there are all the little

companies like LG and HTC. They don't

really get as much— what's

the word? They don't have as much

popularity, which is kind of a shame

because I think they make good phones as

well. It's not all about Samsung

and Apple the whole time. There are other

companies. I do feel like

I'm addicted to smartphones. I just love

them. I love how small they are and how

much they can do. The image quality is

getting so good now, and they're just so

powerful and fast. They're just like

little computers. Well, they are little

computers. I just don't understand how

people could not like or be interested in

smartphones. I have this friend in Japan,

this English guy who I met about 5

years ago. And I went over to his house.

He used to live in the guest house as

well. That's how I met him. And then a few

years later, he got married and he bought

an apartment. And I went over to his place

a few years ago. He just said, Dan, do you

want to come over to my house? Just play

some video games. So I went over, met his

wife. Uh, he had 2 computers and we

just played PC games. It's really fun.

And then I asked him, Hey, what's, what's

your Wi-Fi password? And he said, we don't

have Wi-Fi. And I was like, what? How can

you not have Wi-Fi? How do you go on the

internet on your phones? And he said,

well, we don't, we don't have a

smartphone. And then he got out his phone.

It was like one of those ancient flip

phones, and I was so shocked. You're into

gaming, you're into computers, and you

don't have a smartphone? How is that

possible? And I showed him my phone. At

the time, it was a Samsung Note 3, and I

showed him the games I was playing, and he

was like, why would you need a smartphone?

Why would I want a smartphone when I could

just go on my computer? Well, you can't

put your computer in your pocket, can you?

And I showed him the game I was playing,

this shooting game, and he was so— he just

looked kind of repulsed, like, you play a

first-person shooter on your phone? How do

you play that? Put your fingers on the

screen? That's just stupid.

And, uh, yeah, he finally put a post

onto Facebook saying, uh, I finally bought

a smartphone. And he seems so defeated,

like he's lost. He, he's had to buy a

smartphone. He was resisting it for so

long, but he had to finally cave in and

buy one. I don't know how you can not have

a smartphone in the year of 2016?

I don't know. I don't personally need a

smartphone. I don't have anyone to phone.

I have a camera and a computer, so I don't

really need a smartphone. But I don't have

smartphones because I need it. I have it

because I want it, because it's such a

cool little device. When I was a kid, I

always fantasized about having a little

device that could do everything, kind of

like, like a mini computer that straps

onto your arm, something like that. And it

just feels like that dream has come true.

We finally have these little gadgets that

can do all these amazing things. Do you

remember that children's show called

ReBoot? It was like a— it was in the '90s

and it was 3D animated, and the main

character, I think his name was Bob, And

he had like this blue gadget strapped to

his arm called the Glitch, and it did all

these— it was like a, like a Swiss Army

penknife, and it did all these cool

things, computer— computery things. I used

to make that out of Lego all the time.

I'd get all my blue bricks and I'd make it

out of Lego, and then I'd strap it to my

arm. It kind of feels like I have one of

those now, and it's so nice. It feels like

we're living in the future.

Oh, look at the sky.

Rain clouds are starting to break up. So I

wanted to talk about, about, I want to

talk about smartphone addiction. I admit

it, I do feel like I'm addicted to my

smartphone. If I don't have it on me, I

start to feel really anxious. Like,

where's my smartphone? What am I supposed

to do without my smartphone? And I start

getting like really fidgety. It feels like

a comfort blanket. If I don't have it on

me, I don't feel comfortable. So I always

eat my dinner and I have my smartphone or

my iPad next to me just because it's so

boring. I don't know how people can just

sit there eating and not doing anything

else or just watch TV. TV's boring most

of the time, and I eat with my dad and he

never really talks. And when you do try

and start a conversation with him, he just

goes on and on and on, and it gets really

boring. So I tend not to say anything.

I just look at my phone, just checking

messages, Facebook, checking my YouTube

stats. It's just what I like to do. It's

because I don't like feeling bored. I

want— I want there to be something I can

be doing, using my time efficiently. And

so smartphone's perfect for that.

Also, in social situations, it's nice to

have your phone because it's like a

conversation starter. You run out of

things to say, you can say, hey, look at

my phone, it does this, I bought it a few

days ago, it's really cool. And then I can

show photos and we can talk about the

photos, or go on internet and we can look

stuff up. I just feel really out of place

without my phone. It's probably not very

good. I do find it kind of sad when

there's a group of people and they're all

just staring at their phones and they're

not really interacting with each other,

but I totally understand it because I'm

exactly the same. I'd rather be on my

phone than having to interact with other

people. It's just— it's kind of ironic,

isn't it? I'm on my phone interacting with

people online. Instead of interacting with

the people that are right next to me. Is

that— is that the definition of irony?

I'm not sure, that word trips me up

sometimes. I had a terrible dream last

night. It's gonna be kind of weird, so

prepare yourself. I was back in Taiwan at

my friend's house, and when I was in

Taiwan, I was sleeping. I was sharing the

same room with her brother, and our beds

were side by side. And in the dream, he

was like trying to rape me, and it was

horrible. He was like grabbing me and

trying to take my pants off, and I ended

up running away, and I was really angry.

But my friend, my Taiwanese friend, the

girl, she didn't really care. And I was

like, oh, you don't care? I'm gonna go

home. And I started to pack my stuff, and

I was just so emotional, and it just

reminded me of the time when I was like

Taiwan and I was leaving, and it was like

she didn't really care. A part of me

wanted her to say, don't go, just stay a

bit longer. But it just felt like she was

like, okay, you want to go home, just go.

So I left. And I do have a lot of negative

feelings about Taiwan now because of that

experience. I, I would never want to go

back to Taiwan. Maybe someday in the

future If, if you're like, Daniel, let's

go to Taiwan, it'll be fun, then I might

say, well, okay, but we'd have to go to a

nice hotel with air conditioning, and it

would have to be just like a week or 2.

But I wouldn't voluntarily say, let's go

to Taiwan. I really would not like to go

back there. It's not really that much of a

great country. It's bloody dirty compared

to Japan. It's damn hot everywhere, humid

and hot. The food stinks, the food's

terrible. Stinky tofu is all over the

place and it really does stink. It smells

like dog shit. And they have all this

other weird food that they, they made me

eat. I kind of had to eat otherwise it

would have been rude. There were a few

dishes that I refused to eat because it

just tastes so bad, especially those

noodles. There was like noodles in a soup,

but the soup wasn't normal runny watery

soup, it was like thick and gloopy. It's

like someone just sneezed and spat up all

their phlegm into it and added some salt

and put a load of noodles into it. It's

horrible. I don't know how they eat that.

Oh yeah,

it's an interesting dream.

I had a funny conversation with the

Bangladesh guy the other day. He just

randomly asked me, Daniel, are you gonna

go to the church on Christmas? And I said

no. Then he asked me, don't your family go

to the church on Christmas? And I said no.

He said, why? I said, because we don't

believe in God or Jesus. We're not

religious. And then he said, if you don't

believe in God, where did you come from?

I said, I came from my mum. And then he

said, okay, where did your mum come from?

I said, my mum also came from her mum.

And then he said, where did humans come

from? Monkeys, hahaha. And he did like a

chuckle as if the whole theory of

evolution is just a ridiculous joke and

obviously God created everything. I didn't

even— at that point I just realized what

was going on and I didn't even bother. I

just said, I said, yeah, humans probably

came from some subspecies of ape and we

all evolved from us.

We are all descendants of some kind

of creature that existed bazillions of

years ago. I said something like that,

like really vague. I didn't want to go

into detail. It's just completely

pointless talking about evolution to

someone who's strongly religious. It's

just a huge waste of time. But he actually

said to me, you should read the Bible or

the Quran and then you'll believe in God.

That kind of pissed me off, to be honest.

Why would I suddenly believe in God just

because I read your stupid book? I wanted

to say something like, okay, I'll read the

Quran if you read a book about evolution.

Deal? I wonder what he thinks about

evolution. It just seems like he thinks

it's a big joke. I don't understand why

you would think evolution is a load of

rubbish when we have all this proof,

fossils, scientific facts that back it all

up. And where's the proof that God exists?

There is none. There's no proof.

Where are the fossils? There are no

fossils for God because— I don't want

to get into this. Although saying that, I

do like to believe sometimes that we're in

like a simulation, you know, like The

Sims. You create a few characters, a few

creatures, you chuck them into the world

and just let them get on with it. Let them

evolve, let them deal with their problems.

Just watch it all, watch the chaos unfold,

like when you play The Sims. Maybe God is

the person playing Sims and we're all just

in a simulation while he's up there

watching his, his little creations go on

with their lives.

Maybe— it's probably not true, but I think

it's an interesting way of thinking of it.

Or maybe some kind of advanced alien

empire was passing by and they planted

life on the planet and it just erupted

into all the, all the animals and

creatures we have today. It's probably not

that interesting, isn't it? I'm a bit of a

boring person. I don't believe in gods or

ghosts or spirits. I think that

the reality is probably very dull. We

probably just did just evolve from like

single-cell organisms that eventually

evolved into multiple-cell organisms that

evolved into like fish, and then fish

evolved so they could— so they could live

on land, and that they evolved into

mammals and reptiles and insects.

It's probably really dull. It's not some

kind of amazing story like alien empire

planted life on the planet, or, or some

kind of god that's just playing a

simulation. It's not going to be that

interesting. Life is never that

interesting. That, that stuff only happens

in movies and fiction. Okay,

okay, I have an idea for a smartphone.

How about we put 3 cameras on the back?

Triple camera. How cool would that be?

You have your normal lens, like your

bog-standard smartphone camera lens, then

you have your super wide-angle lens, and

then you have your telescopic lens. It

could be like 50mm. So you could do

portraits with blurred out backgrounds.

That'd be amazing. Why don't they do that?

And then you wouldn't have to— you

wouldn't have to rely on digital zoom,

which always looks terrible.

And then they should put 2 cameras on the

front of the camera, front-facing camera,

so you'd have your normal lens and then

you have a super wide-angle lens. It would

be so much fun. You could have 5 cameras

on a single smartphone. Things are just

getting crazy, aren't they? We're already—

they're already starting to do dual camera

smartphones. Even Apple are starting to do

it on the new iPhone. They have 2 cameras,

don't they? They have the telescopic lens

and the normal lens. If only they put a

3rd camera, a wide-angle lens, then it

would have been perfect.

That's all I care about, the camera. And

you might as well say— you could say,

Daniel, why don't you just buy a camera?

I don't know, I just prefer making videos

on a smartphone for some reason. For some

reason, it's just more convenient. You

can— when you take a video on the camera,

you have to transfer it over to your

smartphone to do video editing. I'd rather

just take the video on the smartphone and

just edit straight from the phone. It's

just a lot more easier, and it's one less

gadget to have to carry around. If you

have a smartphone, you just carry around

your smartphone. But if you have a camera,

you need to carry around your camera and

your smartphone, and it just starts to

become a real pain in the ass. I can

hear a lot of water falling. I get

paranoid that it's going to start raining

again, but it's just the raindrops

dripping off the trees. And something I've

never understood is that at the end of a

lot of YouTubers' videos, they say stuff

like, don't forget to subscribe and like

the video. If you liked it. Is that really

necessary? People know how to subscribe to

a YouTube channel. If you wanted to

subscribe, you would have subscribed

already, right? Does someone telling you

to subscribe make you want to subscribe?

Does someone telling you to like the video

make you want to like the video?

Maybe you've, you forgot about liking the

video. Maybe you didn't really think about

pressing the like button. Button until,

until that person says, don't forget to

press the like button, and then you're

like, oh, oh, that's a good idea. I did

like the video. I think I will press the

like button. I just can't do it. It just

feels so cheesy. Don't forget to press the

like button. This is so lame. Oh, I just

want to shoot myself. You know what else I

can't stand is when people do really

energetic video openings, especially that

Alfie guy, Pointless Vlogs. Oh, I can't

stand him. The beginning of his videos,

he always screams like, go! For like

10 seconds, and it's so cringy. I don't

know how he does it every video.

I've never really liked greeting people.

I don't even like saying hello to people.

My dad always says hello to me, and I find

it really weird. I mean, we live in the

same house. I see you every day. You don't

have to say hello to me. My mum doesn't

say hello to me because that's like her

Malaysian culture. My whole Malaysian

relatives, none of them say hello or

goodbye to each other. They don't even say

good night, they just go to bed. But

English people aren't like that. They're

like, hello, good morning, goodbye, good

night. They always want to greet— they're

always greeting each other. I feel pretty

satisfied right now. I bought everything

that I wanted. I bought a new phone, a

camera, bought the iPad.

But now I feel kind of hollow. I've bought

everything I wanted, and what's next?

What do I do now? I guess that's why I

heard that a lot of people who win the

lottery, they get depressed because they

just buy everything that they've always

wanted to. They quit their jobs, and then

they just end up not knowing what to do

with their lives. I don't have to work. I

have everything that I wanted. What do I

do with my life now? I think

I would end up like that. I just

feel really empty. I guess you just need

more hobbies, a goal in your life,

like a long-term goal that's going to take

a long time to achieve, not a short-term

goal. I just

don't have many long-term goals because I

always end up giving up or losing interest

after a while.
