Helldivers 2： Recoilless Rifle vs Chargers (2-3 Shot Tactics)

One of the best weapons in the game, the

Recoilless Rifle, is pretty powerful and

pretty efficient at taking down basically

anything in the game, including the

Armored Chargers. Probably one of the most

annoying enemies in the game, they

relentlessly keep charging at you.

They're fully armor-plated apart from

their backside and the backs of their

legs. So when using the Recoilless Rifle

to try and take down the Armored Chargers,

you want to make sure that you either hit

them in the head or their soft underbelly.

Now if you hit them directly on the head,

it does seem to stun them and make them

stop moving for a few seconds, which will

give you some breathing space to be able

to reload another round into the rifle and

hopefully finish it off in the legs or up

the bum. Usually once you've hit it once

in the legs or in the side, it usually

shreds the armor and exposes the orange

gooey fleshy underbelly, which is a great

soft target to aim for, for your second

round or your third round. And it usually

shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 rounds to

take down one of these armored charges.

Now you do have to be aware that when you

carry the ammunition backpack for this,

you'll get about 5 extra shots, but you

are sacrificing the ability to carry

anything else on your back. For example,

the jetpack, the shield generator, the

drone laser gun thing— you won't be able

to carry those if you're carrying the

ammunition backpack, which you kind of

have to because without it you only get 1

shot with the recoilless rifle. And if

you're only going to use 1 shot, then you

might as well just use the expendable

anti-tank missile launcher. One of the

most effective places on the Charger to

aim for that I found to do most damage is

usually on its side, so you kind of hit

its underbelly and also its gut and also

part of its legs, and that seems to do

splash damage across the different damage

zones. And I've noticed I can take them

down a lot faster and easier if I aim for

the side underneath them and then aim for

their heads for a knockout kill with the

recoilless rifle. Ideally, you'll be able

to start engaging with the Charger at

quite a range, so you can shoot it from

quite a far distance away because this is

a long-range weapon, and that will give

you plenty of time to reload another

charge into the recoilless rifle.

Unfortunately, it does take quite a long

time to reload this weapon, so if it's

right in your face, you definitely won't

be able to recharge this and reload it.

Definitely needs to be somewhere safe,

and you can reload it and then interrupt

the reload animation to dodge out of the

way and then carry on reloading, and it

will continue reloading from where you

left off. It won't start the reload

animation straight from zero again. So

it's quite a useful tip to know that you

can start the reload process and then

dodge out of the way and then carry on

reloading and then dodge out of the way

and then finally finish off the reload

process. It will take a long time, but

this time— this way you'll be a lot safer

rather than just trying to reload all in

one go, which is kind of risky,

especially if you've got lots of enemies

crowding around you. So here you can see I

shot it in its back on the side and its

armor plating just went flying off, and

now it's got this orange goo that's

exposed to further damage. Also, an

interesting tip is if the enemy is right

on top of you and you've got a round

loaded into the Recoilless Rifle, you can

actually shoot them point-blank, and

because you're prone, you won't take that

much damage from the explosive splash

damage. If you were standing up, this

would probably kill you, and I wouldn't

advise it. But sometimes it's good to go

prone and spam grenades or use any kind of

explosive weapon. It's safe for you

because you'll be prone and you'll be

taking like 90% less explosive damage. So

that's a good little tip to know in case

you're in a pinch and you need to shoot

the recoilless rifle at point-blank range.

So as you can see there, you shoot the

front leg and shred its armor, and now the

leg is exposed, and then you shoot the leg

again and it could potentially blow the

leg off, resulting in a 2-shot kill.

Another little tip with the Recoilless

Rifle, and also this applies to the

Missile Launcher and the Autocannon: if

you see the magic mushroom off in the

distance, you can actually hit it with the

Recoilless Rifle and one-shot it, so you

can achieve and finish that achievement or

that objective. Sometimes the Charger is

too close to you for you to be able to do

like a long-range attack So you want to be

careful of its charge and wait for it to

charge at you and then just sidestep

around it, and then it will run forwards

and kind of stun itself and expose its

bottom so you can blast it from the

backside. Okay, so we're gonna do my

favorite type of mission. It is an

exterminate Terminids mission. This is

kind of like the exterminate the Automaton

mission where you just defend an area,

spam a bunch of turrets. I actually didn't

bring any turrets this time because I got

bored of turrets, I wanted to show you

some recoilless rifle gameplay against

maybe some armored chargers if they come.

So I got a bunch of airstrikes as well to

deal with swarms and

Bile Titans, and they've already started

to come. We've only got 2 people at the

moment, me and the other guy. I don't know

what happened to my team, they all just

left. Hopefully a few more people join,

otherwise this is gonna look pretty messy

and bad. So I want to go up here. I'm

trying to find— farm medals because I

didn't realize you get boosters from the

Warbond page, and there's a really good

one that boosts your stamina, but it costs

75 medals and I've only got about 50. So I

really need to grind medals and

also show clips of the recoilless rifle in

action. Hopefully some armored Chargers.

I don't know why I keep wanting to call

them armored crushers. I don't know what

just blew me up. Oh, that thing. I hate

those. Oh, there's one. I'll shoot up its

backside, watch. Oh, I missed. It's kind

of hard to aim sometimes when you've got

little stupid bugs shooting at you.

God, this thing takes ages to reload. Oh,

it died. There's one over there. Let's

shoot this one. So I just

blew off its butt armor. Oh, there's

another one there. Wow. Oh my God, I'm

gonna die. Oh, I didn't die. This armor is

so good, it's got 50% chance of saving

your life. Uh-oh. So watch

this, because I'm prone,

I didn't take any damage from the splash

damage. When I was prone, because when

you're prone, explosive damage does like

90% less damage. So I think the armor also

saved me again. That armor is so good,

cannot recommend it enough. So I'm gonna

try and recollect— I landed on it.

I'm gonna try and recollect my recoilless

rifle if I can.

Where is it? It's on the other side of

these 2. I think I died down here. Oh,

here it is.

Should be able to reload it because

they're up there. If I shoot it from

underneath, what happens?

Oh, I don't know what— did it kill it?

No, it's still alive. Oh, its friend is

there. Clever girl, snuck up

on me. It's funny how these massive things

can sneak up on you. It doesn't make any

sound. Watch this. Oh, I think I clipped

it but didn't kill it.

Uh-oh. Oh my God,

look, the Bile Titan killed the Charger

with its own acid. Sometimes you can get

the Bile Titan to kill its own friends,

which is pretty funny. Another top tip.

And no one's rezzing me. Oh, we're both

dead. Watch this, if you land on the Bile

Titan, you can do damage to it.

Usually not enough to one-shot it. See if

I can get my rifle back.

Come on, pick it up. Where is it? Oh my

god. It's so annoying trying to pick stuff

up because you accidentally pick up the

wrong thing.
