So I took her first day.

I took her to Osaka Castle, Dotonbori,

Shin, Shinseibashi, Shinsekai, Tennoji.

Denden Town,

Umeda.

So I took her to everywhere in Osaka in

the first day.

So that was kind of funny that it only

took one day to see everything in Osaka.

We didn't go in Osaka Castle because there

was a massive queue and I said it's kind

of boring in there.

What do we eat on the first date?

Oh yeah, first date, walked around

Shinsekai and I took her to kushikatsu,

but not all you can eat.

It's just like normal kushikatsu and it

costs ¥4,000 just for about 15 sticks and

a beer.

The damn place is so expensive.

It was like ¥250 For one stick.

And I was hungry and I wanted a beer.

Ended up paying ¥4,000 just for lunch.

And then I took her to crab buffet, which

cost— oh my God, it cost nearly ¥12,000

for all-you-can-eat buffet crab.

That was the most expensive meal I ever

had.

And it was 90 minutes, all-you-can-eat

crab.

I don't even like crab.

And it was the cheapest menu, the snow

crab.

The king crab would have cost ¥20,000.

¥12,000 is like $120 for dinner.

So expensive.

And I barely ate anything.

I just had the sushi and the tempura.

And then I took her to yakiniku, which is

like, I don't know, ¥4,000 all you can

eat.

And then I took her to— I took her to USJ,

which was about ¥150,000— I mean, ¥15,000,

plus all the food we ate in there.

The food in USJ is so expensive, and we

just went around eating stuff from the

stalls, like the turkey leg, the popcorn.

I think probably spent about ¥4,000 on

food alone in USJ.

And then I took her to the aquarium, cost

¥5,000 for the aquarium tickets.

And then the aquarium meal,

we went to the food court outside of the

aquarium, cost a couple thousand yen.

And then the trains, I put ¥10,000 on each

of our Suica cards and it was gone after a

few days.

And then she lost a Suica card which had

¥2,000 on it.

I think it just dropped out of her pocket

because she puts stuff in her coat pocket

and it just falls out when she takes her

phone out.

So I had to get her another Suica card

and then I took her to Kyoto.

The train to Kyoto was like

4,000 yen for both of us there and back.

And then we went to—

I took us to the Golden Temple, King

Kakuji.

And then I took her to some street food

market.

And then next day I took her to Arashiyama

with the bamboo forest and the Snow Monkey

Mountain Park and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

All the food around the Kyoto area is so

damn expensive.

It was like ¥2,000 just for udon when it

should normally cost about ¥600.

So yeah, it was so expensive.

The food, the trains, tickets to places

weren't too expensive.

I was kind of annoyed because in USJ we

didn't get to see Nintendo Land, which I

wanted to see, because I messed up.

The ticket I bought lets you go into

Nintendo Land, but I didn't know you had

to go into USJ and then print out another

ticket to get into Nintendo Land.

But they only have limited tickets for the

day.

And by the time we decided to go to

Nintendo Land, it was too late and there

were no more tickets left.

So we had to enter like this raffle

lottery ticket to see if we could win some

of the leftover tickets, which we didn't

win.

And then we couldn't see it because it was

like 4 PM by then.

So that was annoying.

I don't know why they have a limited— I

don't understand the words.

I don't understand the phrase.

They say

area, area timed entrance.

I don't understand what that means.

It doesn't make any sense.

We lined up to go into it around 3 PM, and

I showed them our ticket and they said you

can't enter with this ticket, you have to

go and get a special ticket.

And I thought, okay, we'll just do that

later then, but then it was too late.

They didn't say there was limited number

of tickets.

It's so stupid, I hate it.

The system there is so dumb.

I didn't— it didn't say on the ticket I

had to go and get another ticket.

That was the only thing I wanted to see

because I've seen everything else already

in USJ.

I've seen Harry Potter, I've seen like the

boat rides and stuff like that.

And then I got told off for filming on the

stupid Jaws shark boat ride.

Why can't we film it?

I don't get it.

I was trying to film the boat ride and he

was like waving at me to turn the camera

off, and he was— he couldn't say anything

because he was doing his act, you know,

like the, oh my god, there's a shark,

we have to find out what happened to the

other boat.

He was doing his performance.

But he was like waving at me to stop

filming.

It was kind of funny.

And we went on 4 rides and they were all

kind of like VR, virtual reality roller

coaster simulations.

And it was just kind of like shaking you

around like this.

But the last ride, the Doraemon ride, was

horrible because it actually dropped and

went up and And violently turned left and

right, and you're wearing this VR headset,

and it was going to fly off.

So I had to keep it attached to my face,

and the staff were like freaking out

because my girlfriend had bottles in her

pocket,

and they were just going

and then they switched to English, but

they kept saying "pet bottle." Thank God I

could speak Japanese because that would

have been so confusing.

Japanese people think we say pet bottle in

Oh yeah, because they put PET on the

So, but they made me take my glasses off

zip it up, put it over my head, and then

put the VR thing.

I couldn't see anything because it was all

blurry, so I just shut my eyes and I was

holding on to the VR, like holding on to

my case, glass case, so it wouldn't fly

everywhere and hit me in the face.

It was a complete nightmare, the Doraemon

ride.

Hated it so much.

And it actually dropped suddenly and went

Side to side really quickly.

I hated it.

I felt so sick at the end.

And then when you finish the ride and you

come off the ride, you're going down the

hallway to the exit and there's all this

No, it was fucking horrible.

9 a.m., so I had to wake up at 5:30 to get

She didn't get ready in 20 minutes and we

missed the train because she was putting

on makeup and like still not fully packed.

We get to the train station and the train

has just arrived as we're getting to the

ticket gate.

And then she can't find her Suica card and

knowing that we're gonna get on the train,

all her junk in it, and then the Suica

card falls, sinks to the bottom.

She's like rummaging through it.

So we missed the train, and then we're

gonna get the next train, but the next

train earlier than what Google is saying

that we should get on.

So I'm thinking maybe we should skip this

train because Google is telling me to get

the next train at 7:05.

This is 6:55.

So I'm not sure if we should get on this

train.

So I say, uh, actually, okay, yeah, let's

get this train.

So I get on the train.

I look, I turn around and she's not on the

train.

She's like, I don't know what she's

looking at, but she's on the platform like

Looking at the sky for some reason.

And then the doors close.

She turns around.

The look on her face when she sees me on

the train and doors closing was so funny.

So stressful because her plane was at 9

So she's got only an hour to get checked

in and everything.

But we get to the airport and everything's

fine apart from she thinks she's checked

on— checked in online.

So we queue up to the security bit and we

finally finish queuing up and they say,

no, you got to go to the counter to get

the paper ticket.

So we've only got about an hour until they

start boarding and we have to sprint back

to the counter bit to get the printout

thing.

I didn't know because I never have to

print out anything when I check in.

I just check in online and I got my QR

code.

I don't need a little paper thing.

So then we run to the counter, print out

the thing, run back, hug, say goodbye.

And I was pretty sad and nearly cried.

Actually, I did kind of cry.

My face was going

I couldn't control my face.

I was going to just break out and cry

because I was so sad.

It's so sad.

You say goodbye and you see them walk

through the security door and then you're

like, like looking like this, seeing if

you can still see their face through the

crowds and then you're still waving like

that and then they disappear into the

crowds and you can't see them anymore.

And then I'm alone and I'm like, okay, I

guess I should go back.

And the train journey back alone is so

weird because we were here in this

apartment together for nearly 2 weeks.

So it's just so weird coming back here

alone, back to the same station.

But this time I'm alone.

I always cry when I have to say goodbye at

airports.

Same with Chihiro.

When I sent Chihiro back after my dad

died, it's so hard to say goodbye.

I like to think of myself as like a

this country that I like so much.

It was also interesting how the

relationship dynamic shifted because in

Thailand she's always taking care of me

and handling everything because I don't

speak Thai.

But because she doesn't speak Japanese and

Japanese people don't really speak English

and I speak Japanese, I had to do

everything.

Like in restaurants, I had to do all the

ordering and do all the interaction—

interacting.

And if there was any problems, I had to

manage it in Japanese.

So it was kind of interesting taking the

lead for, I think, the first time ever in

my life.

Because when you have a Japanese

girlfriend or Japanese wife and you're in

Japan, they do everything for you.

Because they speak Japanese, so it makes

sense for them to do everything and manage

everything.

Chihiro did everything for me, so I just

didn't have to do anything for myself ever

when I was with her.

But this time everything was so different

and I kind of liked it.

It was, it was fun actually.

It was fun to actually put my Japanese to

use and use it and have it actually be

beneficial to speak Japanese.

Because I never really felt like being

able to speak Japanese actually made a

difference because everyone did all the

speaking for me.

But I could kind of feel this time,

actually, yeah, it's pretty useful to

speak Japanese.

It's not really a challenge to speak in

English for me.

It was challenging because I have to speak

what they were saying was when we went to

The time I had difficulties understanding

what they're saying is when they're saying

an English word.

The English words are so hard to say in

Japanese.

not used to saying it.

And because I know everywhere

to go in Kansai because I've been to all

the places before, I felt like, like an

expert in tourism.

I know exactly where to go, how to get

there.

I know exactly what places are good

because I've been taken there since 2010.

Like my Korean girlfriend, Chihiro, all my

exes took me to these places like

Arashiyama, Kinkakuji, Kiyomizu Temple,

Kyoto, Osaka Castle.

I know all these places, so I feel like

I'm very knowledgeable about where to take

people for the first time.
