The 10 year old Japanese Youtuber that refuses to go to school

I saw this story on TV a few days ago,

and it was actually pretty funny. There's

a 10-year-old Japanese YouTuber, this boy,

and he's a YouTuber at age 10, and he

doesn't go to school. He refuses to go to

school, and he hasn't been to school for

about 2 years now. And he makes videos

advocating that parents shouldn't be able

to force— here it is. He says that parents

have no right to force education upon

children. And he has something like 95,000

subscribers, maybe more now. Here's his

channel. He has 96,955 subscribers,

and he actually gets pretty good views.

If you look at his video list, he gets

40k, 37k, 52k, 88k.

Well, he's getting more views than I get.

In total, he has around— he has nearly 20

million views in total, so I think he's

doing pretty well as a YouTuber. The funny

thing is, even though he gets quite a lot

of views, he is really hated. Look at the

dislikes. He gets at least 4,000 dislikes

every single video. I think being on TV

gave him a lot of exposure and really

boosted his channel, which is kind of

funny because when he was on TV— he wasn't

on TV, it was like a news channel in the

morning, morning news channel— and they

were criticizing him and his parents,

saying that he should be going to school.

I find it kind of funny Because they were

saying that he shouldn't be doing YouTube

and he should be going to school, but then

at the same time they were giving him free

publicity, helping him grow his channel,

which would mean he has even less reasons

to go back to school. Don't people know

how YouTube works by now? If you give

people attention, they get more views and

they get more money. If you don't give

them any attention, then their channels

fade away. Utapon isn't gonna go back to

school if you give him more attention and

give him more views. It's just going to

encourage him to carry on doing YouTube

and to keep growing his channel, which I

think he should be doing because YouTube

is great. YouTube is the best job in the

world. I think it's the dream job.

There's no job in the world that's better

than being a YouTuber, and I know because

I am a YouTuber. I just think it's so

stupid people think clicking the dislike

button actually does anything, as if he's

gonna go, oh, look at all the dislikes I'm

getting, boohoo, I'm going to quit YouTube

and go back to school. No one cares about

the dislike button. I kind of feel like

I'm on his side because when I was his

age, I used to hate going to school as

well. I used to cry in the morning and

have tantrums because I just really didn't

want to go to school. And now that I look

back at my past, I don't really see how

school benefited me. I didn't really get

many qualifications, had a pretty bad

experience. I kind of see school as a bit

of a waste of time. In this video above,

this is one of the quotes. Something he

says in the video. If kids wish to go to

school, then parents are obligated to let

them. But if they do not want to attend

classes, then parents have no right to

force them to. Many children will suffer

and die if they are forced to receive

education. Life is very important, so

protect yourselves. And then up here it

says, it all started in 3rd grade when he

saw how his classmates obeyed teachers as

if they were robots. Not wanting to become

a mindless machine himself, Utapon vowed

to skip school and spread his way of

thinking to others. In his videos, he

keeps going on about how kids shouldn't

have to go to school if they don't want

to, but it's actually having a reverse

effect. And he gets comments like, like

this one, which says, I'm a 3rd-year

junior high student who has not been to

school since my 1st year. I saw your video

during Golden Week and thought it'd be a

grave mistake if I continued skipping

classes. I walked into my class today

after 2 years. So he's actually

encouraging kids who skip school to go

back to school because those kids see him

and see how hated he is and how stupid

everyone thinks he is, and they don't want

to become like him, so they go back to

school. It's kind of funny if you think

about it. So it's kind of similar to my

channel where people watch it and then

they feel motivated to do better in life

so they don't become like me. Or like this

kid. Maybe parents should let their kids

watch this kid to encourage their kids to

go to school and say something like, if

you don't go to school, you'll end up like

this loser who everyone hates. I kind of

feel like I want to support him because I

feel like we're sort of similar. We both

didn't like school, didn't do very well at

school, don't really want to get real

jobs. I think it would be so funny if his

channel actually became really big and he

started getting millions of views and he

had millions of subscribers. You never

know, it might happen. He's still young.

Maybe in about 6 or 7 years when he's a

bit older, he'll start making pretty

interesting content. I'm just trying to

imagine how it would be if he made videos

about him moving out, getting girlfriends,

meeting people, going traveling. He could

have all kinds of crazy adventures and

then make videos about them. I kept trying

to imagine how I would feel if this was my

own son. Would I stop him from being a

YouTuber? Would I force him to go to

school? I don't know. I think 96,000

subscribers is pretty impressive. And he

could probably make a decent career out of

it if he stuck with it and kept improving

his videos. I would actually say that it

would be better for him to become a

YouTuber than become some kind of

salaryman or do some kind of job that he

would probably hate. I don't know if I'm

just speaking for myself, but I'm pretty

sure most people would rather be a

YouTuber than some salaryman that works in

an office. Who wants to be a salaryman?

And if he gets successful and becomes

becomes big on YouTube, he would

definitely make way more money than any

salaryman could dream of making. I'm

actually really interested to find out

what happens to this kid, and I'm

definitely adding his channel to my list

of channels that I'm going to keep an eye

on. I'm not going to watch it because his

content is pretty rubbish. It's just a kid

talking about nonsense, but I think it's

kind of interesting. I think it would be

so funny if he does become huge in a few

years' time, if he had half a million

subscribers. That would just be so great.

I think it would be so funny if he started

making loads of money, way more money than

those television news reporter people who

are criticizing him and those people in

the comments section criticizing his

parents. I hope he laughs in their faces

when he does become huge. I think people

just have to realize that not everyone

wants to live a conventional lifestyle.

Not everyone wants to go to school and

then graduate and then get a proper job.

Some of us, we like to live life a little

bit more adventurously, become artists,

become YouTubers, become actors, singers,

or, you know, whatever, and it's actually

possible to make a good living out of

doing those things. Yeah, it's going to be

difficult, but then everything in life is
