DO NOT BUY ROG Ally - VERY disappointing

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So

I've had my ROG Ally now for a few weeks

now, and I really do kind of regret buying

it because I just realized I haven't used

it for about 5 days, and I don't see why I

want to use it when I have my gaming

laptop that does everything I need to do,

like video editing, streaming, and playing

my favorite video games like Rainbow Six.

I realized that I don't actually need

this, and I kind of bought it on an

impulse because I think it's cool. And

don't get me wrong, it is cool. It looks

really cool, it feels to hold. And I still

sometimes can't believe that you can play

AAA PC games like Cyberpunk, Starfield,

Halo— I don't know, any game you can

imagine runs on this really well. And that

still blows me away. But still, I find

myself always playing games on my laptop.

I did take it with me to Khao Yai on my

trip to Khao Yai camping in the mountains,

and I brought it with me just to see if I

would even want to do some PC gaming when

I'm out traveling. And it turns out I

don't really want to game when I'm

traveling. When I'm traveling, I want to

focus on taking footage, taking photos,

experiencing the place I'm in. And there

wasn't really any time when I was just

sitting around doing nothing. Either I was

visiting places, taking videos and photos,

or it was the end of the day and I just

want to go to bed, get something to eat,

go to bed. I don't really want to sit

there for hours or even 1 hour playing

games. I I did bust it out of my bag to

play some Spider-Man to see if I actually

wanted to game whilst I was out and about,

and I gamed for about 20 minutes and I

didn't really feel like playing any games

because I just wasn't really in a gaming

mood. So if you don't really feel like in

a gaming mood when you're traveling, then

it defeats the point of having a portable

gaming device. That is something I

realized after having this for a few

weeks. And when you're at home Well, why

would you want to use this instead of your

laptop unless your laptop really sucks?

Like, maybe you've got a really crappy

laptop or your laptop broke and all you

have is this. Then yeah, I guess you could

say, okay, I'll just use this instead of

spending more money to buy a new laptop.

I'll just use my ROG Ally because it's

pretty good as a computer, as a laptop

replacement. But if you've already got a

laptop that's pretty beefy and works

perfectly well, then there's no point in

using this. I tried so hard to try and use

this as my main computer. I switched in

and out the HDMI cable into this, into the

laptop, back into this, back into the

laptop, back into this, just so I could

see what looks better on my big monitor.

I'll show you my monitor.

So that's my 27-inch curved

display that I recently bought. I actually

bought this because I wanted to use it

with the ROG Ally, but I ended up using it

primarily with my gaming laptop because it

just looks best. I don't know why, but

when I plug in my monitor to my laptop,

it looks better than when it's plugged

into the ROG Ally. It just looks sharper,

it looks crisper, and it just feels

smoother than when I try and use this as

my main computer. This does feel pretty

snappy and fast, like I can do video

editing and exports all the videos, and I

can do editing and it doesn't crash or

anything, and do live streaming with this,

and I could play Rainbow Six on this

plugged into the monitor and it works

fine. But it doesn't feel as good as when

I plug it into my laptop, and I don't know

why. And it's very annoying and

And I'm just really— I'm really

desperately trying to find a way to make

this part of my life so I don't feel like

I just wasted $700 because At this current

point, I feel like I just blew $700 and I

got nothing out of it that actually helps

me in life or makes my life better, or

it's like a big improvement in my life.

On the other hand, the monitor was only

about $120, and I wasn't planning to buy a

monitor. I only bought it because I wanted

to test it out with ROG Ally. But oh my

God, the monitor has basically changed my

life, my quality of life in terms of my

daily computer life where I'm doing stuff

on the computer, going from my 17-inch

Razer Blade gaming laptop with RTX 3060

graphics cards and 16GB of RAM with a

17-inch display, going from that to the

27-inch curved display has actually really

changed my life. It is amazing having a

much bigger display, and you think, oh,

27 from 17 is not a big difference, it's

only 10 inches, but it's so much bigger

You don't understand unless you actually

see it. Look, so there's

the 17-inch and then there's 27-inch.

So the monitor has been— well, the monitor

has been an actual massive life-changing

purchase, which unfortunately, uh,

maybe a new tripod would be a good

purchase as well. This stupid thing, why

doesn't it stay still?

Okay,

that fixed it. Yeah, the monitor has

actually been a real life changer, but I

can't really say the same about the ROG

Ally. My only use for this would be if my

laptop breaks, and then I'll say, well,

at least I've got this now. This is my

main computer because I don't want to go

and spend more money on a new laptop when

I've got this. But this is still not as

good as the laptop. So I'm really trying

to figure out a way, find a way to

incorporate this into my life. So I feel

like, yeah, this has been a really good

decision to buy this. The only times I

find this to be a useful purchase is when

I'm tired of sitting in my chair and

I want to go sit on the bed or lie down on

the bed and play, I don't know, Diablo 4

or Spider-Man with this for about 50

minutes, which is how long the battery

lasts. Can only play for about 40 or 50

minutes until the battery is completely

dead. Maybe if you're traveling and you're

on the plane and you're really bored,

then it would be fun to play some PC

games. But like I said earlier, the

battery only lasts for like 50 minutes,

not even an hour. Maybe on silent mode

with the graphics really handicapped or

hamstrung, then you might be able to get

more than an hour. But then you're gonna

have to bring a lot of battery banks, and

you're gonna need powerful battery banks

that have, um, over 50-watt charging

capabilities, which none of my battery

banks do. I got some pretty beefy battery

banks, like 30,000 milliamp battery bank,

and they don't charge it. It says plugged

into charger, but it doesn't actually

charge. So I would need to buy like a big,

big boy battery bank, and I might be able

to charge it twice. So that improves

battery life by 1 or 2 hours. So I'd need

maybe 2 or 3— I'd need like 5 of those

battery banks to last a 10-hour long

flight. And I'm pretty sure most airlines

don't let you take on more than 2 battery

banks. If you're carrying too many battery

banks, they won't— from what I've read,

they don't let you take it onto the plane

because it's like an explosion hazard. So

I don't know how you're going to get 10

hours of juice out of this thing unless

you take like 15 battery banks, and you'd

probably only be able to take one, and

then you can charge this up a couple

times, get a lifespan of gameplay period

of maybe 2 to 3 hours, maybe 4 hours. I

don't know, I haven't really tested it,

but that's not very long if you're on a 10

or 12-hour-long flight. You really need to

plug it into an outlet. So this is not a

very good portable device, even though it

is, it is portable because it's small and

it's light and it looks like a massive

phone like that. Imagine you use it as a

phone as well. I think it's got a built-in

mic, I don't know. But it's not a very

good solution for outside gaming because

the battery— I don't know what they can do

about that because it does just, it does

just use a lot of power to be able to play

PC games, unlike the Switch OLED which can

play games that look like rubbish but then

you've got 6 or 7 hours battery life. I

don't know what kind of battery— I mean,

if they slotted in a massive battery pack

into the back where it comes out this big

then they could quadruple the battery

life, but then it would look stupid and be

really heavy. So this isn't very good for

outside gaming because you run out of

battery too quickly. So I kind of regret

buying this so far because I can't really

find a way to actually use it in my life

and have it make my life more fun or more

productive or help me in my life in any

way. It is kind of at the moment a bit of

a dead weight, like a big dead
