Why the ipad pro is a better gaming device than the Nintendo Switch

Hello and welcome to today's video where

I'm going to be talking about why the iPad

Pro is a better gaming device than the

Nintendo Switch. As someone who has owned

a Nintendo Switch and owns an iPad Pro,

I think I'm qualified to talk about this

subject. So let's imagine that you're

thinking about getting a portable gaming

device. What are your options? You can get

a Nintendo Switch, The Nintendo Switch

probably seems like the most obvious

answer, but I would disagree, and I

actually believe that the iPad Pro is a

far superior gaming device as a portable

gaming device. Now, obviously the iPad Pro

costs a lot more money than the Nintendo

Switch does, but when you want to get

quality products, then unfortunately you

are going to have to shell out a bit more

cash if you want the good stuff. The main

reason why I believe the iPad Pro is a

better gaming device is mainly because of

the large screen. Look how big that

gorgeous screen is. It's gigantic compared

to the Switch's screen, which is about—

the Switch screen is about this big.

Okay, yes, you can connect the Switch to a

dock and then connect it to your TV, but

then it kind of loses the whole point of

it being portable. If you have to connect

the Switch to a TV, then it's not really

portable anymore, is it? How are you going

to bring your TV onto an aeroplane or into

the car? You can't, so that doesn't really

count. So the first reason why I prefer

the iPad is because, like I said earlier,

the screen is bigger, it's brighter, it's

more responsive. Look how fast it switches

when you, um, touch it. It's just so much

more responsive than the touchscreen on

the Nintendo Switches. Also, the speakers—

there's 4 speakers on each side where

there's 2 here and there's 2 there,

totaling 4 speakers. The sound quality

just blows the Nintendo Switch's sound

quality out of the water. Okay, so when it

comes to games, you might be thinking,

mobile games on a tablet or phone? Mobile

games are rubbish. Yeah, and I agree,

mobile games are rubbish. All those

free-to-play games where they expect you

to watch ads and buy items to get to make

progress in the game. I hate those games

as well. I'm not talking about those

games. I'm talking about proper PC ports

and game, uh, game console ports that are

on the iPad Pro, which there are many.

I'm not really much of a Nintendo fan.

I'm not interested in Mario or Zelda or

Metroid or Pokémon, so I'm not interested

in getting those games on the Switch. And

even if I was, they're so expensive. It's

like £60 to buy a new official Nintendo

game, and that's a lot of money. I didn't

like the Switch because I didn't like the

games on it. I wasn't interested in the

official Nintendo games like Mario, and

there, there were some PC ports on it,

but those PC ports are on the iPad as

well. For example, one of my favorite

games, This War of Mine, it's on Switch

and it's on iPad, and I can honestly say

This War of Mine plays so much better on

the iPad Because the screen's bigger and

you use touch controls. On the Nintendo

Switch, if you want to play This War of

Mine, yeah, there's a touchscreen, but for

some reason there's no touch controls. So

you have to use the buttons, the little

joysticks, to move the characters around,

and it takes ages. On iPad, you just tap

where you want the character to go, and it

feels so much better. And there's certain

games on the iPad like Civilization or

XCOM that just plays so much better with a

touchscreen instead of buttons, and I

didn't like using the buttons on the

Switch. I, I thought they felt cheap and

plasticky. I know a lot of people don't

like touch controls, but I think there's

nothing wrong with touch controls. The

only problem with touch controls is when

it comes to first-person shooters, but I

don't play those, so it doesn't really

matter. When it comes to strategy games

and turn-based games, Touch control is

ideal. So you might be thinking, oh,

there's not many good games on the iPad,

most of it's just free-to-play rubbish.

And I think you're wrong. Let me show you.

If you go onto the paid games, then

there's so many good games on here.

Number 1, Minecraft. A lot of people like

that game. There's Terraria: Faster Than

Light, Stardew Valley, Goat Simulator.

There's even Rome: Total War on it.

There's a lot of PC ports on of older

games. There's GTA San Andreas on it. Uh,

what else is there? Look, there's even

RollerCoaster Tycoon, the classic version.

There's Scrabble. I think Tropico is also

on it, came out recently. There's also

Final Fantasy games— Final Fantasy 9,

7. I think nearly all of the Final Fantasy

games are on it here. Final Fantasy 9,

Final Fantasy 3, Final Fantasy 4, Final

Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 5. If you like

Final Fantasy, then this is a great device

for you. But I don't play Final Fantasy

games. I think they're boring. These are

the games I play. My favorite game right

now is Darkest Dungeon and XCOM,

Vainglory, and This War of Mine. And

sometimes I play a bit of 8 Ball Pool just

for fun. And the iPad plays all of these

games absolutely perfectly. Let me show

you. So here we have one of my favorite

games. It's called This War of Mine, and

it plays— runs absolutely perfectly. You

can pinch to zoom in and out on your

house. And you have different characters.

Where are they? I think they're sleeping.

They should be somewhere here.

Can't actually find where anyone is. I

think they might be dead. Bruno committed—

oh, that's not good. Let's start a new

game so I can show you what it's actually

like. I didn't make it. Okay, so here we

go, brand new game. And to move the

characters, you see him running? You just

tap where you want him to go and he goes

there. It's so easy. On the Switch, you

have to move thumbstick to control him,

and it takes ages to do anything because

instead of micromanaging like I'm doing

now— look, I can send her down here, and

while she's moving, I can control him,

send him up there. But on the Switch, I

have to move them one by one using the

thumbstick, and it takes ages to do

anything. You can't micromanage because

you have to spend all your time moving

each character individually instead of

just instructing them where to go by

tapping on the screen. It's a really bad

design flaw of that game on the Switch,

but on the iPad it's so much more

enjoyable. And this is the other game I

really enjoy playing. It's XCOM: Enemy

Within, and as you can see, it's very easy

to control. You just pinch and zoom, you

can move the map around like this. Much

better than mouse and keyboard. I played

XCOM 2 on my laptop, and I didn't like

using my mouse and keyboard. I preferred

using a touchscreen. Unfortunately, XCOM 2

isn't out on iPad. Hopefully one day. And

it's very easy to play. You just tap the

enemy like this, press accept, and then

he'll shoot it. It's very easy to control,

runs perfectly. It's never crashed before,

and it's a lot of fun. Also, I don't think

XCOM is on the Switch, so if you wanted to

play XCOM, you're not going to have much

luck finding it on the Switch. So I can

make him move. Oh,

uh, you can make him move really far

using his special ability, and then he'll

move over there, and then you can shoot

this in the face. 100% chance to hit,

and you can take him down very

efficiently. Oh, and then he

didn't make it anyway. My other favorite

game is Darkest Dungeon. Let me show you

that quickly.

Okay, welcome to Darkest Dungeon, my other

favorite game, and I'll just show you

quickly how to play it, how it works on

the iPad Pro. Works very well, very well,

by the way. So you just choose a dungeon

to enter. And then you choose your team.

Doesn't really matter who you choose at

this stage. And then you, you buy

supplies. I won't waste any money buying

supplies now because I'm not going to play

it properly. I just want to show you

quickly what Darkest Dungeon looks like on

the iPad. So to move left and right, you

just touch on the side of the screen and

they move. And then you can tap the map

down here and And

then the fight starts and you just tap,

tap here, tap the enemy.

And I don't know if this game is on the

Switch. I'm pretty sure this game is not

on the Switch. So this is basically what

I'm saying. There's better games on the

iPad Pro than there is on the Switch,

which is kind of funny because the Switch

is supposed to be a dedicated gaming

console. Gaming console. But the

games on a tablet are better. You get

XCOM, you get MOBAs like Vainglory. I

don't think there's any MOBAs on Switch.

Okay, so this is a pretty cool thing that

you can only do on an iPad. Definitely

can't do this on a Switch. If you want to,

you can watch YouTube on the pop-up window

whilst playing the game. See, you can

minimize it so it's smaller.

Move it to different areas on the screen,

different corners, make it a little bit

bigger. You can even swipe it off to the

side if it's in the way and then bring it

back. What I like to do is I like to have

YouTube up here whilst I play games. So

you just press play and then it will start

playing, and then you just play your game.

You don't have to be paying 100% attention

to the game. You can just be playing your

game and then watching YouTube up here.

And this is such a great feature. This is

why I love the iPad. It's so versatile.

There's definitely no way you could do

this on your Switch. The Switch doesn't

even have multitasking capabilities.

And the great thing about the iPad is it's

not just a gaming device, it's a tablet.

You can do loads of stuff on it— video

editing, photo editing, you can write a

Word document, you go on the internet,

you can chat to people, social media,

watch YouTube, watch Netflix, watch

anything basically. On the Switch all

you can do is play games. Yeah, there's a

YouTube app, but that's it. There's no

Netflix app, there's no movies app. All

you can do is play games, and the games

aren't even very good, and they're

extremely overpriced, and it's all just

Nintendo rubbish like Mario. Unless you're

a 10-year-old, I don't really understand

how you can enjoy Nintendo games in the

first place. You could even play music

instead of watching a YouTube video. You

could open up your favorite music and have

it playing in the background whilst you're

destroying things in Darkest Dungeon.

It's great. All you need is an iPad. You

don't need a phone or a laptop to watch

YouTube or listen to stuff on whilst

you're playing games like you would need

with a Switch. Just do everything off of

the iPad. It's powerful enough, the

screen's big enough, and it, it just

works. So that's why I think the iPad is a

much better choice when it comes to

choosing a gaming device. And, uh,

yeah, that's all I had to say.
