NEW Hogwart's Legacy Trailer Breakdown and Analysis

Hello, welcome back to a new Hogwarts

Legacy video. So as most of you know by

now, the new launch trailer for Hogwarts

Legacy has been released yesterday, and

there's many exciting and interesting

things about the trailer that I think we

can talk about. And there's new things

about the game that we can learn about

just from watching this trailer, so we're

going to analyze the trailer today. Okay,

so first of all, we can clearly see the

Hogsmeade sign at the bottom right corner

and the view of Hogwarts Castle in the top

left corner. So this implies that we're

probably going to start off the game in

Hogsmeade, and then the first quest will

probably be to gather some supplies and

pick up some stuff and then make our way

towards Hogwarts. So there's this dialogue

in the beginning of the trailer that says,

in light of your unique situation joining

us as a 5th year, we've devised something

extraordinary to ensure your success. So

this implies that for some reason we

haven't been able to go to Hogwarts like

everyone else, and start off Hogwarts in

the first year. We've had to wait until

the 5th year, which means we're now much

older than someone in the first year. I

don't know why the main character hasn't

been allowed to join Hogwarts until now.

Maybe he just didn't really want to go to

Hogwarts and then changed his mind, or

maybe there was some kind of rule or

decision at a meeting at Hogwarts that

banned him from joining Hogwarts up until

now. So we don't know why he's not been

able to join Hogwarts from the first year.

My suspicion is that people think the main

character is dangerous because of some

kind of secret ability he may have, and

they decided it would be best for him not

to be able to come to Hogwarts. Now, the

reason why they changed their mind is

probably because they want to trap him,

lay a trap for him, and maybe use him for

his unique ability. And that's why they've

decided to invite him to Hogwarts. It is

very shady, and I guess we're gonna find

out later in the game. Next, in the

trailer, you see a close-up of the main

character saying that he can't believe

that he's here in Hogwarts, which leads

you to believe that he really wanted to go

to Hogwarts, and he must have been pretty

sad that he wasn't able to go to Hogwarts

until the 5th year. And now he just cannot

believe that he's actually here. So he's

really happy to be here, which means that

he was probably very sad that he wasn't

able to be here earlier. We then have this

shot of Professor Weasley saying that

Professor Weasley has asked that your

professors give you instruction outside of

the ordinary curriculum, which means that

they're training the main character for

something big, something special. They're

gonna give him extra training which would

lead him to having special powers and

spells that the ordinary students won't

have access to. So obviously the people in

charge of Hogwarts, headmaster and the top

teachers, know that the main character is

destined to be very important for some

kind of event that's going to happen in

the near future. We then get a bunch of

shots of classrooms and teachers teaching.

So I don't know how important these

classroom parts of the game are going to

be. Are they just going to be minigames or

cutscenes where you have to complete some

kind of minigame to unlock a spell that

you're being taught in the classroom?

Because it's a video game, I I don't think

it'd be very fun as a video game if you

keep having to go to school and keep

having to go to classes. Obviously you

want to do the exploring and the combat

mostly, and the classrooms would just be

like a side thing to add this immersive

effect of being a student and having to go

to Hogwarts. We then have this shot of a

teacher saying that she is wary of how

much time the new 5th year seems to be

spending away from the castle, which means

that we are going to be spending a lot of

time away from the castle, probably doing

stuff like Searching for ancient magic

secrets, trying to defeat the goblins and

find their camps and stop the poachers

from doing bad stuff and the dark wizards

from being dark wizards and doing their

evil things. Seems like this professor is

showing you something that's very

important. So it's kind of weird that a

teacher would be taking a student out for

something that's pretty kind of important.

You would think he would take another

teacher with him. Why a student unless the

main character has some kind of special

ability that is very important for this

location. We then have this shot of the

main villain of the game— I forgot what

his name is, something like Rooklyn— and

he's confronting the main character,

saying that he wants you, the main

character, for his abilities. So it seems

like the bad guys want the main character

for some kind of ability he has, and also

Hogwarts wants his ability for something

as well. So both sides of the factions of

good and evil both want the main

character. So it'd be very interesting to

see why they want the main character and

what they want him for. Then they're

saying, what do they want with a Hogwarts

student? So even the Hogwarts teachers

don't understand why anyone would be

interested in this main character. I guess

we're gonna have to find out. Well, it

seems like his rare ability is not really

a big secret because they actually tell

you what it is in the trailer. You don't

even have to play the game to be able to

find out what is so special about your

main character. He has a rare ability to

see whispers of ancient magic. So my guess

is the Hogwarts teachers and the bad guys

are looking for ancient magic so they can

be more powerful and destroy the opposite

team. And it seems like because the main

character has the ability to see whispers

of ancient magic, it would imply that he

would know or be able to find out where

the ancient magic is being hidden. So

they're probably gonna take him to a bunch

of random caves that have ancient magic

stuff there and then try to use his

ability to find where the ancient magic is

and and then use him to unlock it. I'm

wondering if when you find the ancient

magic, will you get the choice to use the

ancient magic against the bad guys or join

the bad guys and use the magic against

Hogwarts and maybe put a curse on the

headmaster or the teachers. I'm not sure

how much choice they're going to give you

between picking between the good side and

the evil side. And then we have this shot

of the main character running away from a

bunch of goblins. So it seems like the

goblins are also after the ancient magic

and you're going to be able to fight

against them several times in the game.

It seems like everyone's desperately

trying to find this ancient magic— the

goblins, the dark wizards, and the

Hogwarts. And that's about it for the

trailer, really. There's a bunch of other

shots where it's just fighting dragons and

these big giant golem things, which I

don't really have much to say about. It's

just kind of random fighting scenes. It is

interesting that dragons are going to play

such an important part in the game,

because in Harry Potter movies, although

dragons are mentioned, they're only kind

of mentioned behind the scenes. You get to

hear that there are dragons in Europe,

and one of Ron's brothers, they went to

learn how to do something with dragons.

And also Hagrid has some dragon eggs. But

in the Harry Potter movies, there were

never really full-sized adult dragons that

played any kind of role. But it seems like

there's actual big dragons in Hogwarts

Legacy. The thing I don't like about the

trailer is it doesn't really talk about

the gameplay or show much of the gameplay.

It just seems to show cinematic trailers

and cinematic cutscenes. Scenes that are

within the game to show you how

interesting the story is. Seems like the

story is the main selling point instead

of, you know, unique gameplay. From this

trailer alone, it's kind of hard to see

what the gameplay is going to be like. I

guess you have to watch some of the

gameplay footage, but it'll be nice if

they actually talked a bit about the

unique game features such as the spells or

the talent system or the leveling system.

How is the game going to hook you in? Is

it just relying on the storyline alone?

Is the gameplay actually going to be

addictive to make you want to keep playing

over and over again for hours and hours?

I really hope it's not going to be one of

those games where it's basically like an

interactive movie. Is it a movie

pretending to be a game, or is it a game

pretending to be a movie? I really hope

it's the latter because I play games for

the gameplay and the story second. If I

want a good story, I'll just put on a

movie or watch a Netflix series. I don't

really care too much about the story as

long as it has enough hooks to keep me

slightly interested, but I'm more

interested in if the gameplay is going to

be addictive. So those are my thoughts on

the trailer. I guess it's a quite well put

together trailer and game's coming out

next week, so very exciting. I'm looking

forward to playing the game and seeing

what it's actually like. Hopefully it's

going to be— well, I don't think it'll be

as good as Elden Ring, but hopefully it'll

be this year's equivalent of Elden Ring

last year.
