5 reasons NOT TO BUY the Switch 2

Hello, in today's video we're going to be

talking about 5 reasons not to buy the

Switch 2.

So stay tuned for today's video where

we're going to explore the reasons why you

might not want to buy the Switch 2, and

here's why.

There's many things about the Switch 2

that are good, but also there are a few

things that I really dislike about the

Switch 2, and that's what we're going to

be talking about in today's video.

First of all, we have to talk about the

price.

Coming in at $450, this is one of the more

expensive versions of a handheld gaming

console experience that you're gonna get

compared to what's already out there on

the market.

So you can already get a Steam Deck for

only $350, and the Steam Deck OLED version

probably $400, which is still cheaper than

the Switch 2.

And the Switch 2, it doesn't even have

OLED.

Can you imagine not having OLED in 2025

when literally all of the competition and

even your predecessor has OLED.

It's really weird.

Now obviously I realize they decided to

omit OLED because it's to keep the cost

down, otherwise this would probably be a

$500 device.

And also in a couple years they want to

sell the Switch 2 OLED and get people to

buy that and make some more money.

So obviously they're not going to come out

with the first version of the Switch 2 and

it already has everything on offer,

because then in 3 or 4, 5 years' time, how

are they going to refresh the line with a

new Switch 2 when the original one already

did?

So it's just like a sneaky marketing

tactic, but it's just really disappointing

when you're paying this money and all you

get is an LCD IPS panel which is a little

bit lackluster.

It's not bad, don't get me wrong, it just

doesn't, doesn't blow you away with the

deep blacks and the vivid colors, which is

a bit sad for what you get.

I'm just saying that for less money you

could get yourself a Steam Deck and it has

an amazing games catalog of SteamOS I mean

Steam games and Xbox Game Pass and Epic

Games and, you know, GOG, you got

Battle.net.

Yeah, you can play all these different

games.

You can play World of Warcraft on your ROG

Ally if you wanted to.

So you've got an amazing choice of games

on any other Windows handheld-based gaming

console, whereas on Switch 2 you're paying

more money, you don't get OLED, you barely

get any PC games on it apart from really

old stuff like, oh, Witcher 3 that came

out in 2015, oh, Cyberpunk 2077 which came

out 2020.

You get these really ancient PC games on

it.

I think probably the newest PC game on the

Switch 2 might be Cyberpunk and the

Phantom Liberty DLC.

So you get really old games, barely any

choice.

You get a bunch of Nintendo games which

are all for kids basically, and the only

good one in my opinion would have to be

Mario Kart and maybe Zelda.

If you really want an action-adventure

game, Zelda is probably going to be your

best bet.

Now the other problem with it, and the

reason number 2 you might not want to buy

this, is it's not very compact.

Let's face it.

Now I've got quite big hands, so it looks

like a decent size in my hands, but I've

got long fingers, so that kind of skews

the perception.

This is a chunky device, and to be honest,

my hand is starting to ache holding it

like this.

This is no Switch Lite.

This is no chuck it in your bag and forget

about it.

This is a slowly place it in your backpack

and be very careful with it because,

I mean, it's an expensive bit of kit.

You don't want to be chucking this around.

But with the Switch Lite, it was only,

what, $200, and it was very light, and you

didn't have these wiggly Joy-Cons.

Look at this,

there is a bit of wiggle, and you can hear

it.

It does wiggle,

and it is quite hard to one-hand hold it

is very chunky and not easy to wield with

one hand.

With the Switch Lite, you can easily just

pinch it in the corner and like flip it

around like that.

This one, I feel like the Joy-Cons are

going to break, or like the connector bit.

You've got this connector bit here,

you see that?

I feel like that would break if you keep

trying to bend it.

So yeah, you want to be very careful with

this device, and it is no Switch Lite.

It is quite heavy and your arms do start

to ache unless you've propped up your

elbows on a cushion or on your chair like

this.

You want to prop your elbows down, really.

Yeah, it is very big.

The screen is very big, which is nice, but

it's also got these massive bezels.

Look at the bezels on this.

The size of the bezels is kind of

ridiculous, and they could have made the

screen much bigger if they just had no

bezels.

I don't know why they put the bezels.

A very strange idea.

Yeah, it's a massive device.

It's basically as big as the Steam Deck

but obviously thinner.

And yeah, you got the kickstand, which is

nice, built into it so you can detach the

Joy-Cons and sit back if you've got some

kind of table.

Reason number 3 you might not want to buy

this is the games on offer are just not

very impressive.

So if we go into the games library

You'll see that on charts,

and we've got Mario Kart number 1, you got

Cyberpunk number 2, you got some random

game for £13 called Fast Fusion,

which looks like some kind of PC game.

It looks like some crappy racer PC game

that came out in the 2000s.

That you would find on a demo disc

attached to some PC magazine.

It just looks really boring.

The graphics are okay, I guess.

It just looks very bland and dull.

I would not really want to buy that.

Okay, so we've got the charts, some

Welcome Tour game which is £8 where all

you do is What, what do you even do in

this game?

You walk around on top of a Joy-Con.

Yeah,

it's really weird,

and it's got these weird minigames on it.

Also, this touchscreen is not super

responsive.

It feels delayed.

Now this is kind of cool.

Like, yeah, there is a little gap,

isn't there?

You get that little gap.

Why is it important?

I kind of want to find out why it's

important.

Why is it important?

So all these people, they other people

online I can't seem to scroll the

pictures.

And then you've got the internals of it.

It's like, like a walking tour where

you've been shrunk down and you're being

told how the Switch 2 was built.

Actually, it seems kind of cool.

I kind of want to get it.

Interesting idea, but do you play it with

other people?

And then it's got these little games where

you use the Joy-Cons for stuff.

Yeah, but anyway, um, we don't get a lot

of Zelda.

No Man's Sky is on 60% discount.

Zelda, Zelda.

I was kind of tempted to get Street

Fighter,

but I had Tekken 8 before and I was

getting really pissed off losing all the

time,

so maybe I won't get that.

I've got Super Smash Bros, but I didn't

like it.

It was really annoying.

So yeah, there's not a lot of new games to

try out

on this.

Skyrim, you got the £60 Skyrim bundle.

Yeah, I don't really want to play Skyrim,

15-year-old game in 2025.

Yeah, so you don't really have a lot of

choice unless you want to play really old

games, then you've got a lot of choice.

'Cause you got all the old Steam— I mean

Switch games.

Yeah, and then the other 2 reasons why you

shouldn't buy it is,

uh, maybe it's time to get a life and stop

playing video games.

Do something productive maybe.

And also battery life, not great.

See, I'm not even doing anything on it and

it's already down to 42%.

Which is weird.

I mean, Mario Kart is running in the

background.

I guess that's maybe why.
