Why the new Switch Lite will suck

Hello and welcome to today's video. Today

I'm going to be talking about the

upcoming, the new Switch Lite. This isn't

going to be about Apple AirPods. I just

wanted something to fiddle with, and I

don't have a Switch Lite to fiddle with

since they, they aren't— what the hell's

that noise? Jesus Christ. Yeah, the Switch

Lite isn't on sale yet, so I don't have

one that I can physically show you, and I

might be getting one when it comes out.

I'm not sure. I don't really have a very

good history with the Nintendo Switch. I

bought myself a Nintendo Switch last year

around— I think it was around April or May

or June or July, I can't remember. And I

kind of regretted getting it because I'm

not really a huge fan of Nintendo games,

but the console itself was pretty cool and

I quite liked it. So annoying. The most

irritating thing about Japanese people is

they stand outside saying goodbye for

ages. Their greetings and their goodbyes

take forever. What they'll do is they'll

stand outside of the building that they've

just left, and they'll just stand outside

as a group for about 10 minutes

chit-chatting, saying goodbye, goodbye,

bowing and bowing and bowing, waving to

each other. Just say goodbye and then get

lost. Anyway, this video isn't about,

uh, Japanese people. It's about The Switch

Lite. So when you— stupid ambulance

siren. It's so noisy here

and it's so difficult to make a video when

every 5 minutes there's either an

ambulance siren, a fire engine siren, a

police siren, police car siren, or a

stupid aeroplane flying over me, or a

bunch of old people outside chit-chatting

saying goodbye for 10 minutes. Anyway,

what was I saying? Oh yeah, the Nintendo

Switch Lite is a brand new Switch that

Nintendo are planning to release later on

in this year. And you might be thinking,

wow, um, a new, new item, new product.

When a company releases a new product,

you think it's going to be better in every

way compared to the previous product.

Not in this situation, no. The Switch Lite

is actually worse in every single way when

you compare it to the current Nintendo

Switch, which makes you wonder, what— why

are they making a product when it's worse

than the previous products in every single

way? Well, that's Nintendo for you.

They're very greedy. Uh, something I've

noticed about Nintendo is even though they

are a multi-billion dollar company and

they make a lot of money, they're very

greedy and they're always just releasing

different versions of, of the current

product but slightly worse versions. Let

me explain. So basically, the Nintendo

Switch is just like the current Nintendo

Switch. I mean, the Switch Lite is just

like the current Switch, but it's smaller.

So the screen is slightly smaller than the

current Nintendo Switch, and,

um, the Joy-Cons on the current Switch,

you can remove the Joy-Cons and they

detach. On the new Switch Lite, they don't

detach, so you can't remove the Joy-Cons,

you can't attach different Joy-Cons. It's

all fixed into one console on the Switch

Lite. What else is different? The other,

the other difference is the new Switch

Lite, you cannot attach it to your TV,

doesn't plug into the dock. So if you've

got a dock, no, you can't plug the Switch

Lite into the dock. Apparently the Switch

Lite is aimed towards people who don't

play at home and they, they mainly play

handheld and they don't play on the dock

and they don't detach the Joy-Cons. So if

you're one of those people, then maybe the

Switch Lite is going to be for you. The

Switch Lite also does not have a

kickstand, so if you're one of those

people who like using the kickstand, you

won't be able to do that on the Switch

Lite because there's no kickstand.

Another thing the Switch Lite is missing

is the rumble feature, the vibration

feature built into the Joy-Cons, which I

don't really care about. I hate the rumble

feature. I always turn off vibration

if there's vibration because it's so

annoying when you try and play a game and

then the stupid controller is vibrating in

your hands like some kind of vibrating

dildo. No, I don't want a vibrating dildo

in my hands. I just want to play the game

without without being buzzed every time my

car hits into something. The Switch Lite

also has a D-pad instead of the buttons

for the direction pad on the original

Switch, which a lot of people are saying

is a good thing. I personally don't care

because I never use the D-pad. And for

some reason they've spelt it L-I-T-E,

Switch Lite. That's not even how you

pronounce— that's not how you spell light.

It's not L-I-T-E, it's L-I-G-H-T. They

can't even spell the word properly. The

only good thing about the Switch Lite is

its price. So the original Switch cost

about $300 for the basic

version, the basic model, but the Switch

Lite is going to be $100 cheaper and it's

going to be $200. So if you don't care

about having the dock or the kickstand or

the rumble feature and you don't mind

having a smaller screen and

you want to save $100, then yeah, you

should get the Switch Lite. But if you

want the dock and the kickstand and the

rumble and you want to be able to take off

the Joy-Cons, then you should spend an

extra $100 to get the Switch original

version. Now when I think back to my own

usage of the Switch, now that I think

about it, I always turned off the rumble.

And I never use the kickstand, and I

barely ever use the dock. So if I'm

thinking of getting another Switch, which

I might, might consider getting another

Switch, I would choose the Switch Lite

over the original Switch, mainly because I

don't use these things, and I don't really

care if the screen is slightly smaller

than the original one. I'm not sure how

much smaller it is. I think it's a 5.5

5-inch screen and the original Switch is a

6.3 or 6.2. There's not really a massive

difference in size. Okay, so my research

team have managed to find some pictures of

the Switch Lite so I can show you what it

looks like. So here is the Switch Lite

compared to the original Switch. As you

can see, there's quite a big difference in

size. The Switch is 4 inches height,

whereas this new one is 3.6.

Screen size 5.5 compared to 6.2,

and as you can see, yeah, there is quite a

substantial difference in size between the

And as you can see, it comes in 3

different colors: yellow, turquoise, and

gray. I would have liked to have seen a

black color, that would be nice, or a

white color. I hate these babyish colors

like yellow and turquoise. I'm not 10

years old. Okay, so if we go to Nintendo's

website, we can actually see what the new

features are. So it's going to be compact

and lightweight. So they've made it

smaller to be compact and lightweight,

which is a good thing. I always thought

the original Switch was a bit too long

sideways. I thought it'd be better if it

was more squarish Built-in controllers,

as I said before, you can't remove the

Joy-Cons, and I actually think that's

quite a good idea because my problem with

the Joy-Cons was that when they were

attached to the Switch, you could kind of

bend it and it would make these creaking

sounds because it wasn't attached 100%

solidly. So if you kind of bent

the Switch or if you put some pressure

force onto it, you could start hearing

creaking sounds from the area where it

connects to the Switch. I didn't like

that, so I kind of like the idea that this

is going to be more solid. It's going to

be more of a solid all-in-one device,

which is quite a good idea, I think.

Compatible games: the Nintendo Switch Lite

system plays the library of Switch games.

Well, obviously, if— obviously it's going

to play the library of Switch games,

otherwise what is it going to play? It's

going to have some games, isn't it? If

it's not going to play the library of

Switch games that are on the Switch, then

what else is it going to play? Game Boy

games? I don't think so. I find it kind of

funny that they've titled it Brighten Up

and then one of the colors is gray, one of

the most boring colors in existence. When

you think of brighten up, the color gray

doesn't come to mind. Why didn't they put

red? They've got yellow, blue. Red would

have made more sense. You know, yellow,

red, and blue. Who thinks of yellow,

blue, and gray? And also it's better for

multiplayer because you can do local

wireless. And online play. You could

do that with the original Switch anyway.

There's more system features,

Nintendo Shop news and out, but those were

already on the original Switch. They

should change more system features to same

system features, that'll be more accurate.

They've got some pictures of people being

very happy whilst they're playing. Does

anyone actually play like this, smiling,

grinning like an idiot? I, I don't look

like this when I play games. So many games

to play. More than 2,000 games to

play, and yet they're probably all going

to be rubbish. 2,000 games to play and

1,995 of them all going to suck.

And here's a handy side-by-side

comparison. So the original Switch comes

in at £299.99, and it has TV

mode, tabletop mode, handheld mode,

Joy-Con controllers, rumble, and the IR

motion camera. The Switch Lite, on the

other hand, only has handheld mode.

It doesn't have any of the other features.

All these features are kind of gimmicky

and they suck anyway, so I, I personally

don't really care about losing out on

these features. I'd rather save the $100.

I just kind of feel like it's a cash grab,

another cash grab by Nintendo. They're out

of ideas, so what do they do? Instead of

bringing out a brand new products. They

just try and milk the current product by

bringing out the exact same, exact same

product, but it's worse and it's a

different size and it's at a different

price point. What next? Are they going to

make the Pro, the Switch Pro Elite, where

it's slightly bigger and it's slightly

better, has a brighter screen, maybe it

has more buttons? Or they just keep

releasing these new skins, like these new

Pokémon official skins, new Zelda skins.

So they could squeeze more money out of

Nintendo fanboys. So those were my

thoughts on the new Switch Lite. Will I be

buying one? Um, I am kind of interested in

getting one, but I just don't know what

I'd play on it. I originally bought my

Switch because I wanted to play Fortnite

on it. Let me, let me tell you the story.

So last year I was really into Fortnite on

my iPhone, and I thought, well, this is

fun, but it'll be more fun if I had

buttons. So I decided to buy a Switch to

play Fortnite on it. I got bored with

playing Fortnite, so I started playing

other games on the Switch. Then I realized

I don't really like Nintendo games, or the

majority of the games on the Switch don't

really interest me, and I stopped playing

the Switch and I bought myself an MSI

gaming laptop. And after I got the gaming

laptop, I never really played the Switch

anymore, so I decided to sell it.

So will I buy another Switch? Probably
