10 Tips and Tricks for the PEUGEOT e-208 Electric Car!

Hello, welcome back to a new video.

So I recently just got this Peugeot e-208

2022 Premium Allure model, and I thought

I'd make a tips and tricks video.

Okay, so first of all, when you get the

car, you'll probably get 2 keys, and if

there's a key inside of the car, you can't

lock the car with the other key.

I don't know why, it's like some kind of

safety feature.

I was at the charging station and I had my

backpack in the back of the car with the

second key inside of the backpack, and I

couldn't lock the car, and I couldn't

figure out why I couldn't lock the car.

And someone at the car park, at the

charging car park, said maybe the car is

broken or there's a fault with it, but

there wasn't.

You just had to take the spare key out of

the car and then you can lock it.

I don't know how it knows when there's a

key inside of the car.

And with the key fob, you can actually

bring out this key that's inside of the

key fob.

So you just slide this to the left and

then you pull this out, and then you've

got this key that can be used in case this

somehow runs out of battery.

You can use this keyhole

to open the car, and then you can use that

to get inside.

Okay, so let's open the car by pressing

the unlock button.

Oh, it's already unlocked, I forgot.

So if you lock it, it will close the

mirror,

and then we unlock it by pressing this

button.

The thing I don't like about the car is

when you unlock it and you open the door,

there's all these weird sounds start

whirring.

Not yet.

When you turn the car on like this, watch.

So you press the brake pedal and then you

press the start button.

Listen to all the noise.

I don't know what that is.

What is all that?

It sounds kind of scary.

I have no idea what all that buzzing is.

It's like the motor is booting up or

something.

But anyway, so the plastic on the inside

of the car is kind of easy to scratch.

It's got like this— you can always scratch

it with your fingernail.

So I got this.

I don't know if you can see it.

It's like protective vinyl tape.

And I just got off Amazon and I put it on

the side so when you step into the car

you're not going to scratch up the plastic

with your shoes.

So yeah, you can see here you've got the

plastic and then you've got the tape.

It's like a carbon fiber effect and it's a

bit glossy shiny.

It's got like protective coat on it and

then you can just step onto it.

You don't really care if you scratch it or

not.

So I put 2 bits.

It's hard to keep the car clean, it gets

so dusty so easily.

So I put 2 bits side by side.

Let's protect that side.

And I also put some on this side, as you

can see.

So I put the tape on each side of doors so

anyone getting inside of it, they are not

going to scratch up the plastic.

And then I also put the tape on this

mirror because you might accidentally

drive the car into a bush when you're

driving down small English lanes and big

tractor comes the other way or big car

comes the other way.

You might panic like I did and try to

drive into the bush to not get hit.

Uh, it's kind of stupid because there's

not enough room on the road to go past

each other anyway, and someone's going to

have to reverse.

But my natural instinct was to go into the

bush, and I was scared I was going to

scratch this, so I put some tape over it.

It looks kind of stupid, I guess, but at

least it's better than getting scratches.

Just as long as you don't cover the

indicator light, I think it's fine.

Okay, so for charging you have a few

options.

The car came with— it came with a charger,

that one.

I think it's supposed to go to like a

public charging station that doesn't have

a tethered cable, so then you use your own

cable for slower charging.

And then I got this one which is like

£100, so that plugs into the car and then

this plugs into your 3-pin socket.

And that will slowly charge the car.

Take about 10 hours to get 50% charge.

It's very slow, takes a long time, but

it's much cheaper than using a public

charger.

So as you can see, I parked it in the

garage because we've got a plug socket

here, so I just plug it in there and then

it goes into here, and it will take maybe

2 hours to do about maybe 10%.

I reckon you do 10% charge in a couple

hours, which is not too bad.

You could get a home charger that's

installed by a professional electrician,

but that costs like £1,000, £800 to

£1,000, and you get 7 kilowatt charging,

which should charge your car in about 6 or

7 hours, which is much faster.

But it's very expensive, £1,000.

For £1,000, you could pay for public

charging and pay for like 16,000 miles.

I don't know how long I'm gonna do— I

don't know how long it will take me to do

16,000 miles.

I might not even do 16,000 miles after 3

years, so it would take like 3 years to

break

break even on buying the home charger.

And then what if I move?

I might move out and get my own place, and

then I have to spend £1,000 on a home

charger that's installed in here.

And then I don't know if I can uninstall

it and bring it to my new place.

It's just kind of not a good idea unless

you have your own place that you own and

you know you're going to be living there

for like 10 years or something or more.

So I think getting the home charger that's

£1,000 would be a good idea if you're

thinking about very, very long term.

And you know exactly where you're going to

live and you know exactly how much you're

going to drive.

Okay, so next let's talk about Apple

CarPlay and sat nav.

So it's kind of weird because this is

quite a modern car, 2022 model, it's not

the entry level, and there's no sat nav

that comes with the car.

So to get sat nav on this display, you've

got to plug in your phone, which is so

stupid because even my mum's Honda, which

is not as new as this car, has built-in

sat nav.

So to get Apple CarPlay to working for me

was a bit fiddly.

I thought it didn't work because I plugged

in this other cable and it wouldn't work.

The phone connected to the car by, by

Bluetooth and it worked as a phone and it

could play music and everything, but it

wouldn't do CarPlay.

So I did some researching and people were

saying you need to use the official Apple

charger to get it to connect to the car,

but you don't because I got this other

cable.

It's just like a black random cable But

for some reason this cable let the phone

connect to the car using Apple CarPlay and

my other cable didn't.

So you just plug in your iPhone and then

automatically boot up CarPlay, and then

you have Google Maps, Apple Maps, iTunes

Music, whatever.

And you have to use this port, the USB

port to Lightning or USB-C.

This USB-C port is just for charging.

So I got my cable here and I did some

cable management, I tidied it up.

Using this elastic band.

So I just put my phone— I put my phone in

there

and then just plug it in, and my phone

will just go inside here, I guess.

And I could do Google Maps, and you can

link Siri to it.

So if you hold down this speech button,

you can hold it down and just say, show me

directions to blah blah blah, and it will

show it to you on the map, which is pretty

cool.

And then behind here you have cruise

control.

It's kind of hard to show it because it's

behind the steering wheel.

Okay, so if you roll it down, it'll go to

cruise.

If you roll it up, it'll go to speed

limit.

What speed limit does is you set the limit

and then you won't be able to go above

what you set it to.

I think it's called speed limiter or

something.

And you go to cruise and you can set the

speed by using the buttons on the back to

set it down or set it up.

And then you can choose to save the speed

that you wanted to save it as as either

MEM or the top MEM, and then you can save

it to like 30 miles per hour, and then it

will set to 30 miles per hour.

And then you press this side button to

either start it or pause it.

And then you've also got lane assist, so

you get like a little heads-up display

here that will show your car in the lane.

And you've actually got a camera on the

front here,

see, like a little camera here.

I think there's 2 actually.

There's one there and there's one there.

So I reckon those cameras, they helped

detect the white lines on the lane, and it

will show you where your car is within the

lines, and then it'll help gently steer

you to keep you in the lane, or give you

like a bit of a warning to tell you if

you're getting a bit close to the lines.

I haven't used it yet because I didn't

realize I had it.

So here you've got different drive modes.

You've got reverse, neutral, and drive,

and B.

So you've got regenerative braking, it's

on by default, but if you press B, it'll

give you even more regenerative braking.

And that'll just mean so when you let go

of the accelerator, the car will do a bit

more braking.

And you've got handbrake, so lift it up to

engage it, you push it down to disengage

it, which is quite good.

Sometimes you're on a hill, you just want

to roll backwards, so you put it into

reverse and then you just press it down to

disengage handbrake and then let go of the

foot brake and start rolling backwards.

I don't know what this does.

I tried pressing it, but nothing seems to

happen when I press the drive mode

buttons.

Seems like maybe you press up and it will

go up on this one, but why would you need

that when you can just press this little

switch?

And then you've also got the My Peugeot

app, which you can install onto your

phone, connect it to your car, and you can

do things remotely like check the

charging, see how much battery's left, or

check how much time's left if it's plugged

into a charger.

And you can also turn on the aircon or the

heater at a certain time before you get

into the car remotely.

It's on my other phone which is in my

room, so I can't really show it to you

right now.

And you can also download software updates

by sending— you press send link to my

email and you enter your email, send it to

your computer, download it onto your

computer, then you transfer it onto a USB

stick, and then you just plug it into USB

hole here, and then it will update the

software on the car.

So those are my tips and tricks.

There's probably way more tips and tricks.

I'll probably make part 2 video if I can

think of more, but But that's it for now.
