So, um, it's been a month since I quit my job. Can't believe it's been a month already.

Sometimes I still find it really strange that I, I actually quit my job. It feels like,

like, like really strange.

Well, that was a good intro.

So it's been a whole month since I quit my job. It's still kind of strange that I don't have to go there anymore. It's kind of strange that I even worked there in the first place. It feels like it was all a dream. I feel like I've woken up from some kind of nightmare. I actually still get

nightmares about my coworker. Not like scary. Nothing really scary happens in the nightmare. It's not like we're killing each other or it's violent. It's just a nightmare of me having to go back to work and having to see him again.

I just wish I could erase him from my memory. I don't think I've ever met someone that I've hated so much in my life before. I think I could also say that I hate him more than I hate Hitler. I mean, Hitler did a lot of bad things, but he didn't really do anything that actually affected me

personally,

so— to see him again.

They're not really scary dreams or violent dreams, they're just nightmares where I have to go back to work and I have to see him again. I don't think I've ever met someone that I've hated so much before. I actually hate him more than Hitler.

So, um, one of the things that I really didn't like were all these silly rules that didn't really make sense or didn't seem to be very important, but I kept being told to do them, otherwise I would get into trouble. And one of these silly rules was

going to the toilet. Every time you need—

Because whenever I went to the toilet, I made it

really obvious that I'm going to the toilet. And when you open the toilet door, it lets out this really loud squeaking sound that you

can hear from the other end of the shop. So I really didn't feel like it was necessary to tell my coworker that I was going to the toilet every time. But then my boss started moaning. She said that—

but then my boss said that my coworkers were complaining about me because when I went to the toilet, I I didn't tell them that I was going to the toilet and they said that they didn't know where I was. They were saying that sometimes Daniel just disappears and they don't know where I've gone because I've gone to

the toilet and I didn't tell them. I thought it was obvious because if I'm not in the shop and if I'm not in the office or at the back, then there's no other place that I could be apart from the toilet. It's the only other place that I would be in, so it's kind of stupid. I didn't

really understand why my coworkers had this big problem about me going to the toilet and not telling them about it. And sometimes my coworker, he would say, oh, I'm going to the toilet, and then he'd walk off right in front of me holding the keys, and I'd see him going to the toilet. What's the point in telling

me that you're going to the toilet when I can obviously see that you're going to the toilet? It's just— it was so irritating. Yeah, if my co— yeah, if my coworker was in the office or on his break and I desperately needed the toilet, then yeah, I'd go to him and say, I need to go to the

toilet. But the only time I ever went to the toilet was when my coworker was by the till next to the keys. So when I took the keys, it was really obvious that I was going to the toilet. It was just so annoying having to tell people that you're going to the toilet every time you needed to

go to the toilet, so I just— I got lazy and I didn't do it.

Also, also the evening staff that finished at 10 PM, which is when I start my shift, they were moaning that I was coming into work a minute or two late and it means that they couldn't go home on time. I wasn't going in a minute late. I arrived 5 minutes earlier.

And then the evening staff that finished their shift when I start my shift were complaining that I was coming into work a few minutes late, and it means that they couldn't go to— they couldn't go to home. They couldn't go

Which wasn't true. I was coming into work 5 minutes earlier, but I had to stay outside to take in the newspapers and the flowers.

Another irritating thing my coworker used to do was when he went on his break, he always used to tell me he was going on his break, and he went on his break at the exact same time every single day. I know when you're going on your break, you don't need to tell me. He'd go, oh, I'm going

on my break now, okay? Okay, go on your fucking break then. I know you're going on your break. Where else are you gonna be going? I never told him when I was going on my break. I would just go on my break because I went on my break at the same time every single day. It just seems

kind of pointless to tell him that I'm going on my break.

Alright, I'm going on my break now, okay? He would say it in that way, in this really weird irritating way every single time, and I just didn't understand why. I know you're going on your break. shop? S-H is pronounced shuh, not suh. There's an H in the word shop. You gotta pronounce it, otherwise I don't understand what you're saying.

Also, my coworkers couldn't speak great English. Also, my coworkers couldn't speak English that well, and sometimes it was very difficult. Also, my coworkers couldn't speak— wasn't that good. Also, my coworkers' English wasn't that good, and sometimes it was extremely difficult to try and understand what they're saying. Sometimes my coworker would say, can you do the sop? Can

they say, oh, where do you go to the toilet then? In the staff toilet, you moron. Now go and piss outside in the bush or something.

And then sometimes— and then sometimes you get customers that want to pay by card, but they don't reach— but they don't have enough— but they don't— Also, you need to spend at least £3 to pay by card, and then sometimes you get customers that haven't bought enough items to make the minimum spend. And then they try and

pay by card and I have to explain to them there's a minimum spend. And I have to say that like 20 times every day because people don't notice the tiny little sign that says that there's a minimum spend charge. I just wish that

also there was a minimum spend.

Also, if you wanted to pay by card, you needed to spend. Also, also, if you wanted to pay by card, Also, if you wanted to pay by card, you had to spend at least £3, and then sometimes customers would only spend— they would only buy items that came up to £2.50, and then they would try and use

their card, and then I had to explain to them that there was a minimum spend every single day. And none of the customers noticed that there was a little sign that says there's a minimum spend. I just wish that we could make a gigantic sign that says no cash machine, no cashback, no, we don't have a toilet

for the customers, and you need to spend at least £3 if you want to pay by card. Then I wouldn't have to repeat the same things every single day. Window.

I ended up writing on a piece of paper saying we're open in gigantic letters, and then I sellotaped it to the window. But then my stupid coworker kept taking the sign down every time I left, so I had to put it back up and then create a new sign because he would screw it up and put it

in the bin. Just leave it there. Why'd you keep taking down my sign?

Also, some customers don't realize that we're open 24 hours, even though it says that we're open 24 hours on the big freaking sign outside. And then they start knocking on the window asking if we're open, then I have to point to the door and

And then they start knocking on the window asking if we're open, then I have to point to

You can't tell if they're gonna do a drive-off until they actually drive off, and then you can't really do anything. What are you gonna do, chase them? You can't tell if they're gonna

do a drive-off unless they're wearing a balaclava or a mask. Also, sometimes customers would do drive-offs where they would just take petrol and they would drive off without paying. Also, sometimes customers would do drive-offs where they would take petrol and then they wouldn't pay and then they'd— Also,

And then my coworker would say, oh, you have to check the cameras properly to prevent this. You can't prevent it. You can't tell that they're going to do a drive-off until they actually drive off.

And then it's too late. You can't chase them down. You can't really tell that they're gonna do a drive-off until they've actually driven off, but then it's too late. Unless they're wearing a balaclava or something, then it's really difficult to tell.

Also, sometimes— also, sometimes the customers would do drive-offs where they would just take petrol without paying, then they'd drive off, and then my coworker would be like, oh, we have to check the cameras properly to prevent drive-offs. You can't prevent it. If they're going to drive off, they're just going to drive off, aren't they? You can't really

tell if they're going to do a drive-off until they've driven off. How many times are you going to say drive-off?

Also, sometimes customers do drive-offs where they take petrol and they don't pay and they just drive off, and you can't really tell if they're going to drive off until they've driven off. And then after that, you can't really do anything. I mean, what are you gonna do? You're gonna chase them? You're gonna run out there and chase

them down?

Mm-mm. Also, sometimes, sometimes the customers— sometimes you get, sometimes you get customers that drive off with the petrol without paying. That do drive—

sometimes you get people that do drive-offs where they just drive off with the petrol without paying. And then my coworker would go, oh, you didn't check the cameras properly. What's the point in checking the cameras? You can't tell if someone's gonna drive off.

Until they've driven off. And then after that, what are you gonna do? You can't chase them down, and it's really difficult to tell if they're gonna do a drive-off or not unless they're wearing a balaclava or something.

The strange thing was that my coworker actually got upset and angry when someone did a drive-off, and I just couldn't understand this. I didn't care at all because I still get paid the same. It's not my fault if the company doesn't want to implement a system where the customer has to pay first before getting the petrol. If

that's what they want to do, then it's their own fault, isn't it? Something that I found hard to understand was my coworker actually cared. He was upset and kind of angry when someone did a drive-off. He'd be like, fuck, not again! And I'd be like, I don't really care because I still get paid the same. It's not

my fault. It's the company's fault. If the company implemented a system where the customer had to pay before they got the petrol, then this wouldn't happen. This— they—

the strange thing was— the thing I couldn't understand was— what was strange to me was that my coworker— the strange thing was that my coworker actually cared if there was a drive-off. He would be angry or irritated about it, and I just didn't care because I still got paid the same. If the company doesn't want to implement

a system where the customer has to pay first before getting the petrol, then it's their own fault. It's not my fault. Also, there was shoplifting. I was really bad at spotting shoplifters or being able to tell if something was shoplifted. Sometimes like a gang of kids would come in and then they would leave, and then my coworker

would come and say, did you see them take anything? And I'd say no, and then he would say okay. Then he'd go into the office to check the CCTV footage and he would be like, shit, they stole like 2 bottles of wine and a load of beer or something. And I'd be like, really? I didn't see them

take anything. I didn't notice. To be honest, I didn't care. Oi, stop shoplifting! Even if I did see them shoplifting, what am I supposed to do? Can you imagine me trying to stop them from shoplifting or confronting them? Can you imagine me going, oi, you, stop shoplifting! Put that stuff back! They'd just be like, no, and then

they'd walk off. Or I couldn't confront them and say, have you shoplifted something? And then force them to open their bags or force them to open their jackets or whatever. They could just deny it and say, no, I haven't shoplifted anything. And then they could just walk off. I couldn't physically search them or stop them. So what's

the point?

5 months of working at that convenience store. Maybe people did shoplift, but maybe we never found out. We didn't even have CCTV cameras. There were cameras, but the monitors for the cameras were in the office, not at the cash register. At the petrol station, we can see all the CCTV cameras on the screen above the cash register,

and we're supposed to check them constantly to see if people are shoplifting. In Japan, we didn't have any of that because there wasn't any shoplifting. lot of money if they did that.
