Now today I want to talk about an issue

that affects us on a global scale:

weaboos. For those of you who don't know

what a weaboo is, a non-Japanese person

who basically denounces their own culture

and calls themselves Japanese. Even if you

don't know the definition, you've

definitely seen these guys around on the

internet, at your local comic book store.

Hey, if you just like watching those

Japanese cartoons and you're an alright

person, go for it, pal. But this is when

you have a real problem. I have a katana

collection. I've been learning Japanese on

Rosetta Stone for like 5 weeks.

Hello and welcome back to a new video.

Hope you enjoyed my authentic reaction to

Filthy Frank, and you might be wondering

is this video about? Something I've

noticed recently on YouTube is random

Japanese people reacting to Filthy Frank

videos, and they're getting hundreds of

thousands of views. And I thought to

myself, I want a piece of that pie. Now

technically I'm not Japanese, but I did

live in Japan for 2 years, I speak fluent

Japanese, and I'm half Asian. So, so I'm

more Japanese than you are, and I think

that qualifies me to be able to make this

video. And if you disagree, well, what are

you gonna do, press the dislike button?

In general, I don't like reaction videos

or reaction channels because they steal

other people's creations and content and

videos, and they just sit there watching

it, and then sometimes randomly they'll

laugh or they'll tell you their opinion.

If there's any kind of content on YouTube

that could be described as leech content,

then I think reaction videos fit that

description pretty well. It's basically

just piggyback riding off of the fame and

success of someone else's creations, and I

don't like it. Now, these Japanese people

reacting to Filthy Frank just take it to a

whole new level of content leechery. Some

of them just sit there in complete

silence. Most of them barely have any

reaction at all, sometimes they have this

kind of confused look on their face. Kind

of like they're trying to decide if it's

socially acceptable to laugh or not. Kind

of like they're trying to solve complex

mathematics in their head. Kind of like

they're worried what their mother-in-law

might think of them if they saw them

laughing at something naughty. And when

they do react, it's just kind of lame

because it seems as though they don't

understand the humor, or they don't know

if they should be laughing or if they

should be disgusted. Or they laugh way too

much at something that wasn't even that

funny. Watching a Japanese person watch

Filthy Frank is kind of like making your

grandmother watch it. It's like they're

from a different generation, a different

world where this kind of humor doesn't

exist, and they don't understand why this

guy called Frank is yelling at them. Oh,

how I wish my grandmother was still alive

so I could show her filthy Frank. I get

the feeling she would not be very pleased.

Bless her cotton socks. Sometimes I wonder

if they even realize that Frank's a

character and not actually a real person.

But you know, it's YouTube. Some people

actually think everything on YouTube is

real. Last year, people actually thought I

was homeless. As if that would ever

happen. But yeah, sadly, it doesn't really

surprise me that some people might

actually think Filthy Frank is a real

person. Is it really that surprising that

someone might make up a fictional persona

and say outrageous things to get views? I

personally would never do that. Something

else I've noticed is sometimes they'll

pause Frank's video to comment on his

Osaka dialect. For some reason, people

from Osaka are so proud of their bloody

dialect. I just think it's kind of silly

to be proud of your accent. Sometimes

people comment on my accent and I say, I

don't have an accent. This is just what

words sound like when they're pronounced

properly. And then they say, you're kind

of patronizing, Daniel. I think you'll

find it's pronounced patronizing. It's

when you talk down to someone. I'm not

being condescending. I'm far too busy

thinking of things you wouldn't be able to

understand. Things like, why the hell are

people getting so many views by watching

Filthy Frank videos? I just can't help but

feel a little bit annoyed that all of

these Japanese people reacting to Filthy

Frank videos are getting a free pass to

easy views just because of their

nationality. I've seen really small

channels that barely get any views blow up

overnight just because they made a

reaction video to Filthy Frank and they're

Japanese, and they've basically just

stolen Filthy Frank's fanbase. Sometimes I

like to look at Filthy Frank's fanbase as

homeless people. It's kind of like their

master has abandoned them and now they

have no place to go. They roam YouTube in

packs, going from one reaction video to

the next, kind of like wandering nomads.

Maybe watching some random person reacting

to your hero is the next best thing. And

thanks to this massive fanbase that has no

place to call home, these random Japanese

people have an easy way to get really big

on YouTube. I mean, good for them, I

guess. Congratulations. Congratulations on

piggybacking off of someone else's fame.

Congratulations on being a massive content

leech. Pfft. Do I sound bitter? You don't

see videos from Chinese people or Korean

people reacting to Filthy Frank getting

loads of views. It's always Japanese

people reacting. I don't know why Filthy

Frank fans have this massive hard-on for

watching Japanese people react to their

favorite YouTuber. I just think it's kind

of lame that there's so many people that

care that much about what other people

think of their favorite YouTuber. It's

like they're seeking some kind of

validation from other people so that they

can feel good about the things that they

like. Oh look, it's some random person

reacting to something that I like. If he

likes the thing that I like, then it makes

me like the thing I like even more, and

then I like him too. I just don't

understand what's so fascinating about

seeing some random stranger react to

something that I like. For example, I like

this comedian called Jimmy Carr, but I

really couldn't care less what other

people think of him. I enjoy his stuff and

that's good enough for me. I guess it

would have made sense if these reaction

videos were blowing up maybe 4 or 2 years

ago when Filthy Frank was actually active

on the platform, but he hasn't even made

any videos in 2 years and then all of a

sudden all these random Japanese people

are suddenly reacting to him. It's like

they're always so far behind when it comes

to what's popular. I would say maybe a few

years ago Filthy Frank was massively

popular, but these days he's kind of

irrelevant ever since he stopped making

videos to focus on his music career. But,

you know, I guess that's Japan for you.

They're always kind of lagging behind the

whole world when it comes to things that

are really popular. For example, Game of

Thrones, when everyone was raving on about

that, people in Japan didn't even seem to

know that it existed. You'd talk to a

Japanese person and then they'd ask you,

so what kind of movies or shows are you

watching? And then you'd say, I'm watching

Game of Thrones. And then they'd be like,

what's that? How do you not know what Game

of Thrones is? And then you have to

explain to them what it is. Have you ever

had to explain what Game of Thrones is in

Japanese? It's a bloody nightmare. So it's

basically a fictional fantasy land and

there's dragons and there's zombies and

there's all of these different characters

and there's a king and then some of them

don't like each other and then they fight.

Oh, so is it like Lord of the Rings? Kind

of, but no, don't worry about it. So yeah,

that was my little rant. In conclusion, I

don't like it when people get more views

than I do by doing something that I think

is stupid. And I just feel like these

videos of Japanese people reacting to

Filthy Frank, they're just way too popular

and I had to put them in their place.
