Japanese guy Reacts to Uncle Roger Fried Rice

There's this guy on YouTube called Uncle

Roger, and his videos are getting millions

of views recently, and he's so overrated

and not even funny. So I thought I'd talk

about why I don't like him or his content

and why I think he's a bit of a fraud.

He's famous for criticizing the way people

make egg fried rice, and he does it in a

really annoying fake-sounding Asian

accent. I guess he's another one of these

wannabe YouTube comedians, and for some

reason everyone finds him and his accent

to be hilarious. First of all, let me

quickly show you the kind of content he

makes. Putting jam in rice,

this is disgusting. Who put jam?

It's Uncle Roger. Today Uncle Roger gonna

react to this video requested by so many

niece and nephew out there. Egg fried

rice, it's an absolute classic, and I've

got a 2 seconds into video and I already

see saucepan. Hiya, where your wok?

Egg fried rice need to use wok because you

need the wok. Hey, what? 1 tablespoon of,

of what? I'm gonna go in with 1 tablespoon

of olive oil. Olive oil for egg fried

rice?

That was a little clip, a little snippet

of his content is just so lame and cringy.

Basically, he just criticizes and nitpicks

the way famous celebrity chefs make fried

rice, and then he just complains about how

they're making it all wrong whilst doing

it in a really stupid and bad Asian

accent. Hiya, where you what? As someone

who grew up surrounded by Chinese people

and Chinese relatives, I can easily tell

his accent is really, really poor, and

it's just a little bit annoying to listen

to. Annoying thing is everyone in the

comment section seems to be completely

amazed by his accent and they find it

really hilarious, as if it's so funny.

His accent is not even that great, and I

also find it a little bit insulting. His

channel only blew up because he made some

kind of video criticizing a BBC how to

make fried rice video. Before that, he was

doing something completely different. He

was doing stand-up comedy. And if you

watch these older videos, you'll find out

that he just has a normal, boring American

accent. He doesn't actually have a Chinese

accent. We do back home, right? Who here's

been to Asia? Give me a cheer. Yeah. When

you order street food in Asia, do they ask

you what allergies you have?

His stand-up comedy is so bad. I didn't

laugh once. I watched the whole video of

his stand-up gig and it was just really

lame. His jokes are just not funny at all

and his delivery is not good. And as you

can hear, his accent is obviously not the

same accent that he uses when he does his

Uncle Roger character. He has a very

bland-sounding, typical American-sounding

accent. I don't know if most of his

audience even knows this because they just

watch the Uncle Roger stuff, the stuff

that has 10 million views, and I'm pretty

sure they don't go back to his older

videos and then find out that His Uncle

Roger accent is fake. It's not real. It's

not even genuine, and he's pretending that

he's an Uncle Roger. He's way too young to

even be an uncle. Uncles are supposed to

be old men, you know, 40 years old, 50

years old, 60 years old. You don't have a

guy that looks as young as he looks as an

uncle. That's just weird. Maybe big

brother would be more suitable for his

appearance. It's just so stupid how he

became famous for criticizing the way

Jamie Oliver or some other chef made fried

rice, as if there's supposed to be a

proper standardized way of making egg

fried rice. Why do I even have to explain

that there's so many different ways of

making the same recipe? You can have the

traditional way that it was originally

made in, and then you have different

variations of recipes for the same recipe,

different ways people make the same recipe

according to their tastes. It doesn't

really matter if he's not making it in the

proper way. He's making it in his own way,

and that's perfectly fine. It's just like

how Americans pronounce aluminium as

aluminum. It doesn't mean they're

pronouncing it the wrong way, they're just

pronouncing it in a different way, and

there's nothing wrong with that. Imagine

criticizing someone on how they make a ham

sandwich. I'm sure the way I make a ham

sandwich is going to be different to how

you might make a ham sandwich. But I'm not

gonna stand here and say, my way's the

real way and the way you're making it is

wrong. There's no such thing as a proper

way of making anything. You can make it

the traditional way, or you can make it in

your own way. But this stupid Uncle Roger

has to make countless videos over and over

again complaining about how Jamie Oliver

makes fried rice just because he went

viral for criticizing the BBC's way of

making fried rice. It's just kind of funny

how he went from trying to be a stand-up

comedian And now he's just completely

changed the entire concept of his channel

because he went viral. And his other

little gimmick is pretending to work in a

restaurant or fast food restaurant and

then being really rude to customers. I'll

show you a clip of it. It's just so, so

lame and so cheesy and not funny at all.

Uh, do you have it with brown rice though?

With brown— with what? Brown rice? Brown

rice? Haiya! Brown rice is the most

disgusting rice. Yeah, I like your fashion

though. Oh, thank you, thank you. I don't

like your anything. Can we get just a bowl

of rice? Just a bowl of rice? Yeah, for

her. With nothing? Nothing. You want just

white rice? Is that what you feed her?

That's why she's so skinny. I like

alcohol. You like alcohol? Where your dad?

He a terrible father. It's just so lame,

and I get the feeling that it's scripted

or it's fake because I just can't imagine

a restaurant actually letting him pretend

to work there and then being rude to

customers and making them lose customers.

And I know what he's trying to do. He's

trying to do the whole, oh look, I'm

Asian, I'm being straightforward and

blunt, but this is just what Asian people

are like. But then he just sounds like

he's being really rude. To customers for

no good reason, and it, it's not even

funny. So yeah, in conclusion, I'm not

really a big fan of Uncle Roger. I would

give him a 2.2 out of 10 for his YouTuber

rating. I can kind of understand what he's

trying to do, and I guess it would have

been funny if he pulled it off better. I

just don't really find his character to be

very entertaining. I think what ruins it

for me is knowing that his accent is fake.

It would have been much funnier if he was

an actual middle-aged Asian guy who had a

very funny accent, but knowing his accent

is fake just kind of ruins it for me.

There's this other guy on YouTube called

Jamie Zhu, or Zo, and he makes— he does

pranks on his Chinese dad, and his Chinese

dad actually has a funny Asian accent. I

think Jamie's dad would have been able to

do the whole Uncle Roger character 100

times better than the actual Uncle Roger
