What happened to my CFDs?

Well, first it went down from 1,900 down to like 1,100 from that massive crash. And then Friday, end of Friday, it bounced back up to like 1,550.

So yeah, not very good, is it? But at least there was a bounce. I made £100 shorting,

but obviously it's not going to help the entire account balance when it's gone down like 50%. And

now I feel very nervous about being so leveraged. In longs.

Might try and get out of some positions next week.

I think it all basically hinges on Nvidia earnings on Wednesday.

I mean, the earnings might be good, but then it might tank anyway.

I might look to get out,

get out some longs before the earnings. Otherwise, I mean, if it crashes again, I'm so fucked.

You know what I found really interesting recently?

The difference between driving at 60 versus 70 versus 80 is insane. So listen, if you do it— if you do a 120-mile trip at 80 miles per hour instead of 70 miles per hour, you'll get there 13 minutes quicker. Only 13 minutes quicker, but you end up using 40% more electricity

in the battery. That's insane. It says like, um, the drag, air resistance drag, increases by like 30% going from 70 up to 80.

So when I came back, I drove really slowly and I didn't get home any quicker than I would have if I went much faster. And I saved a lot more battery. It was really weird because you think, oh, you're going so slow, you can take ages. Actually, you only get to your destination like 10 minutes slower.

And then going 60 instead of 80, you get there half an hour later, but then you save like 50% energy. It's crazy. So, I mean, even if you get to the destination 15 minutes faster, you've used like 30% more battery than you would have. So now you got to spend longer at the charger. So you might have

gotten there quicker, but now you've got to spend more time charging the car. It makes no difference. But you get there 15 minutes earlier, but now you've got to spend 15 minutes longer to charge it. So, I mean, you got there quicker, but you're leaving there later. So it's not really speeding you up at all, really. And

then you're spending more money on the charging. Like, you spend money, extra money on the luxury of getting there 15 minutes earlier. But you're not leaving 15 minutes quicker because now you've got to sit there charging. It's actually kind of funny

how it is completely pointless doing anything more than 70 because the time— the difference you save is like 10 minutes, 15 minutes.

I mean, the same thing would apply to a petrol car. You use more petrol. It's just you don't— it doesn't take longer to fill up, maybe like 5 seconds longer. I don't know really. I don't really know how long it takes to fill up a tank.

But yeah, when you're doing motorway driving

you might as well just do 60 because you'll be half an hour slower, but you would save so much energy. So it might as well just stick in the slow lane and like trail behind a big lorry because they'll break the air resistance for you.

And it's weird because when I was in the Peugeot,

I felt like I wanted to go fast. I felt like I needed to go fast all the time. Like maybe because the car was small and agile, low down, it made me very aggressive with my driving. Like I want to put my foot down all the time. But with my new car, because it's bigger and it's like

an SUV, higher up, you have like a slower paced driving attitude because it feels like you're not in like a super zippy car anymore. You're in like more of a, I don't know, like a spaceship.

You feel like you don't, you don't really want to go fast, or it doesn't really matter. It's weird how

the driving attitude kind of changes depending what you're driving.

Also, I noticed some cool things. Number one, uh, when it's dark, the main beam lights come on automatically and they turn off automatically when another car's coming. It has cameras that can detect light sources, so if it detects no light sources, it'll switch on the main beams without me having to flick the stalk. It's so annoying driving

at night. I don't know if my Peugeot did it. According to AI, it did do it. I didn't know that. Maybe I just had it turned off, but I didn't know it had that. And I used to have to flip the main beams on, and then if the cars come out, flip them off. It's really annoying. But

in the Citroën, it does it automatically. It's really cool. It just comes on and off and on and off, like it knows when another car's coming. It's really cool.

Um, but one really annoying thing is the lane assist. There's this automatic lane assist thing where if you, if you kind of start heading out of your lane without indicating, it will nudge you back in, which is really annoying. I don't like it. You can turn it off, but every time you turn the car off and on

again, it turns the lane assist back on. You can't permanently disable it. It's really fucking annoying. So every time I turn my car on, I have to manually turn off the lane assist. So I made a little shortcut on the dashboard, but I gotta press it, disable it, press save, and then press confirm. I gotta press 4

buttons to disable the fucking lane assist.

Apparently they're legally obligated to not let you permanently disable it for safety. Then why did they let you disable it in the first place? This is stupid.

I don't like it because I like driving all over the place. Sometimes, I don't know, you like cut the corner, don't you? Hit the apex.

I don't like being nudged back in my lane.

So I don't like the lane assist, but I do like the main beam, automatic main beams. It's also got these cornering lights in the dark. So when I'm like steering slowly, it's got these little lights under the headlights, not indicators, but like separate light that comes on. I saw it on my Blink camera when I was coming

in.

Yeah. Interesting.

Interesting. Like calculating differences between doing 60 versus 70 versus 80. So yeah, I mean, really you gotta stick to below 70, otherwise you're just— you're not really gonna get to your destination much faster and you're just gonna waste loads of energy. The only reason to do it is, I don't know, a bit of fun maybe.

But you gotta pay for fun, don't you?

I really hate the lane assist, really annoying.

Also, those sticky pads I got for my dash cam, they don't stick to the glass, so I can't put my dash cam back up. So I'm not sure what to do with it. I need to get a stronger sticky tape, but I don't want it to be so strong it like damages the glass. I got those little

sticky double-sided sticky pads and it just won't stick to the glass. It just comes off,

so that's kind of annoying.

I don't know if I'd say I like my old car better.

The old car didn't have this lane assist thing that kept turning itself on.

I don't know if the old car had the automatic main beams. The new car's much more comfortable. Suspension's way better. Oh yeah, you know the M26 where the motorway gets all bumpy and the road surface is not grey tarmac, it's like brown something? I don't know what it is. I think my dad said it was concrete. I

remember my dad saying something about it when he picked me up from the airport. So something like in the '70s, because of austerity, to save money, they thought it'd be a good idea to make the road out of concrete. I think it's concrete, but it was so loud and bumpy in my Peugeot. But in the Citroën, it's

so smooth, like I don't feel it or hear it,

and I don't feel those little bumps, like the lines, horizontal lines going across it. So that's nice.

The car's definitely massive though.

Makes me feel a bit nervous on smaller roads.

But the parking camera is way better than the Peugeot,

so I feel more confident reversing into parking spots.

But the Peugeot felt a lot faster. It just felt a lot more nippier. This one feels bulky, bit sluggish, more like a spaceship than a little X-wing.

But it is much more comfortable, and the higher seating is nice.

So I guess it's trade-offs, isn't it? Maybe it's, um, the end of my boy racer days.

I mean, I still floor it if I can. But it doesn't feel as fast because it's in a bigger body, I guess.

The old car was fine. Well, yeah, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just I didn't like the design anymore. It was all banged up.

They offered me £900, which helped me get my overdraft down.

I mean, the look of the car basically sold me. I saw the car in the forecourt and I thought, damn, I like that car.

And then everything else was just to justify buying it because I like the look of it.

I don't regret it.

I really like my new car. I like the way that the phone connects wirelessly to it flawlessly. You never have to connect it with a cable. In the Peugeot, I kept having problems where it just wouldn't connect. For my music, and sometimes I had to plug it in, sometimes it would work and sometimes it didn't. This car

just works. Android Auto works wirelessly.

As soon as I get in the car, it switches on my music,

which is pretty nice.

a full lock turn basically. This car got to be like, like steering a ship.

Yeah, I feel like it is harder to handle. Like I got to put more effort, like, like my arm has to put in more effort to steer the car around corners. Whereas with the Peugeot, I'd be like, whoop.

Yeah, it does feel a bit like a bus, I guess, like a van.

But when you're going in a straight line, it's great. Very comfy, high seating position.

But damn, it looks good when I have it parked in the car park. And I love the automatic, um, the door automatically locks and unlocks when I go away from it or go near it. So nice when you're carrying shopping, you don't have to fiddle with your keys, it just opens.

And then if there's like a big puddle in the road I just drive right over it. I don't even care. My ground clearance is so big. Unless the puddle is knee-deep, I'm not gonna even touch the water.

Also, the automatic main beams are really nice. The main beams just come on and off automatically. If an oncoming car comes, it switches itself off. It's got this camera, it could detect light sources. If it detects a light source, it will switch off the main beams, and if there's no light source, it switches them back on. It

was so nice. Don't need to fiddle with the stalk anymore. The sound system sounds same to me.

Also, the cabin noise is much quieter compared to the Piaggio.

Really quiet in there. You can't— you barely hear anything from the outside.

You feel like cocooned in this safe little hole. It definitely feels safer and like you feel more secure.

I really don't like having to disable the lane assist every time I get in the car though.

It's only 5 centimeters wider than the Peugeot, so it shouldn't really be any different. It just kind of looks a lot bigger.

I don't really have range anxiety now. You just got to drive slower. If you drive like 60 to 70 on the motorways, um, the range estimate is fairly accurate. Like if it says you've got 100 miles range, it would actually— I mean, if you're gonna drive 100 miles, it will use 120 miles of range because I was

watching it on the way back. So I started off at 200 and I did a 130-mile drive to the Tesla Supercharger. So you would think, oh, I have 70 miles range when I get there, but I had 50 miles range left when I got there. Which means it uses 20 miles more range than what you've actually driven.

And that was with slow driving. If you do like 70 to 80, oh my God,

it kills the battery.

I don't think you'd even reach there.

It uses like 50% more battery when you floor it, cuz I drove my mum and Dave Gibson to Ramsgate, which is only 30 miles there, so 60 miles round trip.

I think I used over 100 miles range for a 60-mile trip,

but I was going pretty fast.

So it really makes a massive difference how you drive. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference though. I thought like a little bit of difference, but really like 40% more energy used if you do more than 70.

It's really not worth doing more than 70. You don't even get there much faster.

AI says if you do a 100-mile trip and you do 80 instead of 70, you only get there 15 minutes faster, but you use 40% more energy.

but you probably use way less energy.

So then maybe you spend 15 minutes at the charger instead of 30 or 40. So Maybe you get there slower, but you spend less time at the charger. It's kind of interesting.

And then if there's congestion, the people doing 60 or 70 that you overtook end up catching up to you anyway. So in the end, you didn't get further— far, I mean, you got there faster, but you're still at the same place.
