My Problem with the iDubbbz Apology video

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So as

some of you may know, iDubbbz has recently

put out an apology video apologizing for

some of his best content that he's ever

made, the Content Cops, and also

apologizing to the people that he targeted

in these videos. And as an avid fan of

iDubbbz's old content, not his new content

which is kind of lame these days, I

thought I would share my opinion on his

apology video and why I feel kind of

insulted as a fan of his. After all of

these years supporting iDubbbz, I never

thought his final Content Cop video would

be on himself, and it It's just kind of

weird how even though no one's really

tried to cancel him, he's been trying

really hard to cancel himself and end his

own career on YouTube, which is just kind

of hilarious. So in his apology video, he

basically explains that he's changed over

the years and he's matured and grown up,

and he doesn't feel like the Content Cop

videos that he made in the past really

reflect who he is now. And he said that he

was sorry. He also announces that he's

actually removed almost— I think he's

removed every single Content Cop. If you

go to his videos and sort by most popular,

his most popular videos are now full force

and the newer documentaries on weird

people that he's done that I'm not really

a big fan of. This whole new direction he

tried to take his channel in where he was

basically like a wannabe Louis Theroux

interviewing these oddballs and making

documentaries out of them, that wasn't

really my cup of tea. As someone who was a

big fan of the Content Cops and enjoyed

pretty much every single one of them, I

feel like it's a bit of a slap in the face

as a fan who enjoyed it. And it's kind of

a shame that he thinks that they were bad

videos and he regrets making them and he

felt like, oh no, he hurts people's

feelings, when in reality the people that

those Content Cop videos were targeted at,

like Keemstar, Leafy, Tana, they kind of

deserved it because they were kind of

dickheads on YouTube back in the day. I

feel like in order to actually put them in

their place, iDubbbz had to be harsh and

he had to just completely destroy them and

not care about their feelings or be

empathetic or sympathetic. And they kind

of deserved it because they were horrible

people making videos being horrible to

other people. So it's kind of like karmic

justice that they got what they deserved.

Okay, maybe the way he expressed his

points against these people in the videos

were kind of immature, such as making fun

of Leafy's chin, using the n-word and

other slurs. But I think these Content Cop

videos actually did a lot of good in the

way that it put these bigger creators in

their place, brought them down a peg or

two. And I think it also helped make other

big YouTubers behave themselves a bit more

because they were worried that if they did

too many bad things, they might end up in

a future Content Cop and they'll be

cancelled and their YouTube career would

be over. So I think in that sense, the

Content Cop videos did a lot of good.

Also, in addition to entertaining tens of

millions of people, including myself,

It's just kind of a shame that iDubbbz

doesn't see it this way, and he decided to

remove the videos out of shame. As a fan

of his old content, I kind of feel

indirectly insulted by his apology video

because he apologizes saying that the

Content Cop videos and other videos he

made harassing and targeting other

creators were bigoted, and he was using

slurs like the N-word that should never

have been used and shouldn't have been

accepted. So I'm sitting here thinking,

as someone who laughed and enjoyed those

videos and found them entertaining, Is he

pointing at me and accusing me of also

being bigoted and enjoying being

unsympathetic and enjoying seeing these

creators suffer and get harassed? I know

he's apologizing for himself and his own

actions, but he must realize that by

admitting that these videos were horrible

things to make and horrible things to do

and have said towards these people, he's

also indirectly saying that I'm a horrible

person because I enjoyed that content and

consumed it happily. The entire beef and

drama that happened between Keemstar,

iDubbbz, and Leafy from all of the Content

Cop videos was some of the most hilarious

and entertaining stuff I've ever seen on

YouTube. And the platform hasn't really

been as entertaining or as fun as it used

to be back in those days. And I will never

personally apologize for enjoying that

stuff because it was funny stuff. And the

internet has never really been like that

since those days because of how society

has changed direction and shifted towards

a direction where basically people are

like Care Bears and scared of hurting each

other's feelings, which I think is kind of

lame. I guess I feel kind of disappointed

because I think many of us saw iDubbbz

subs as maybe a last bastion of hope,

someone that we could rally behind in this

dark storm. But instead, he caved and

changed and kind of betrayed us people who

believed that the internet was a more fun

and entertaining place back in those days,

like 2017, 2016, and before then. He's

obviously changed as a person since those

days, and I feel like the change started

to show itself and begin truly when he got

together with his girlfriend and it became

like a really serious relationship and

they got married. And I feel like really

does change a man. When a man is single

and very young, he does kind of stupid

stuff and he acts out, and this does come

from a place of insecurity and loneliness.

And it's just like you're trying to prove

yourself, show that you're a tough guy.

But once you do find a good woman and you

find someone you want to settle down with,

it really does change you because it makes

you feel no longer insecure about

yourself, and it makes you kind of slow

down in the way that you live your life,

and your mentality changes, and you do

become more mature. Which I think, you

know, that's great and everything for him

as a person on his personal life. But as a

content creator, it kind of sucks because

it makes everyone kind of boring as soon

as they get some kind of girlfriend or

wife. It's also kind of depressing because

it kind of makes me feel old. I mean, I am

pretty old. I'm like 34, and I'm pretty

sure most people who enjoyed his content

back in the day were either teenagers or

people in their 20s who are now entering

their 30s, maybe mid-30s or even late 30s.

And yeah, time is really marching on, and

I feel like we've lost another OG. I felt

really sad in the same way when Filthy

Frank decided to abandon the Filthy Frank

character and take his life, change his

life into a new direction with the whole

music stuff and become Joji. Which, by the

way, I know this is unrelated, I thought

that was really disappointing too because

I loved Filthy Frank. I thought he was the

funniest and most hilarious internet

persona character on all of YouTube, and

then he just ditched all of that to make

crappy music. No offense, but I don't like

Joji's music. I think it's all really

boring. There's barely any melody. His

voice just sounds like he's droning on and

on, and I feel like I'm falling asleep

when I listen to his music. I don't feel

pumped at all. I just don't like his

music. So yeah, in conclusion, I feel like

it's a very disappointing turn of events.

I won't be watching iDubbbz's new content

because he doesn't really appeal to me as

a creator anymore, and I don't really

resonate with who he identifies as now.

And I don't really feel like he's even

capable of making content that I would be

able to enjoy anymore. And I'm not saying

that he should go back to using the n-word

and being immature and attacking people,

because he does have kind of a point, I

guess, that he should maybe have toned

that stuff down a little bit, but I don't

think that means he should not be able to

criticize other creators because there's

still a lot of creators on this platform

that do shady stuff and need to be called

out on and need to be put in their place.

And iDubbbz could have been that person.

He could have done it in a more mature way

without the N-words and without the slurs

and still have been able to make

entertaining videos because I didn't find

the Content Cops funny or entertaining

because of the slurs. I found those videos

entertaining because iDubbbz was at one

point very good at making entertaining

videos. And he really puts in the work and

the effort to make the videos good and

entertaining, like getting the costumes,

going to different locations to film

skits. And I feel kind of sad that those

days are over. So those were my thoughts

on the iDubbbz apology video. I kind of

half respect his decision to grow up and

move on, and that you can't really stay

stuck in your ways for your entire life.

But at the same time, I just can't help

but feel a bit sad And I feel like this is

another massive blow to the entertainment

factor of YouTube, and we've lost another

legend and OG.
