DO NOT BUY The Elder Scrolls IV： Oblivion Remastered

Hello and welcome back to a new video. So

recently I've been playing the brand new

Oblivion remastered version, and as an

avid fan of Bethesda games— Oblivion,

Skyrim, you know, those kind of games in

general— I knew I just had to buy the

remastered version of Oblivion. So it's

been a very long time since I last played

Oblivion, and I have to say I really used

to really enjoy the original when it first

came out as a kid. Now that I'm a

grown-up, I'm really glad I get to enjoy

the game again. Unfortunately, the

remastered version leaves much to be

desired and is lacking in several lusters

across the board. The game doesn't really

address the problems that the original

game has, and in fact, it has reintroduced

the same glitches and problems that the

original game had, seemingly on purpose as

a joke, and I just don't really find that

very funny, to be honest. I would like to

have think— thought that they would have

fixed the problems that the original game

had and made an improvement in the game.

Unfortunately, it does not seem to be the

case with this remastered version, and

unfortunately, I'm gonna have to say that

this game is not quite what I expected.

So obviously, the graphics in the game are

a lot better than the original one, and

they're okay. They're not bad. Even on low

settings, they look okay enough, but they

just don't really scream modern-day gaming

when it comes to the graphical fidelity.

It just, it looks okay, but it's not going

to blow you away, if you know what I mean.

So apart from that, the gameplay of the

game is rather basic and simple. So you

can get some pretty good gear in the

beginning of the game. I've already just

started the game and I've already got this

iron cuirass and I've got the Renault's— I

don't know why the captain's name in the

beginning, one of the bodyguards of the

Emperor, why is she called Renault like

the car company? That's pretty weird.

Anyway, I got her katana straight from the

beginning because she died And basically I

looted her, which is really weird because

you think, oh, it's an RPG. You start off

the game and you're supposed to have basic

items, but you can just cheat, I guess,

by looting the guards,

and you can also pickpocket them and they

don't do anything. I also punched the

emperor in the face and all he says is,

oh, you shouldn't do that. It's just

really weird. Um, I know it's the

beginning of the game, so they're going to

be lenient with you. But I find it kind of

silly that you're able to do that in the

first place. So you get attacked by these

assassins, and also there doesn't seem to

be— yeah, there's no blood when you hit

the bodies, which is— the immersion and

realism really goes down a step. And you

need a key to open this door, which is

weird because the Emperor and his

bodyguards went through the door, so I

thought you could just follow him through,

but you can't. And then it says you need a

key, so now I don't know what you're

supposed to do. And yeah, I don't know why

they released this game. I guess Starfield

didn't do very well, so they need to

release a new game to make up for the

money that Starfield didn't bring in, and

this is what they came up with. It's kind

of disappointing to just get a rehashed

version of a very old game with improved

graphics. So we've got the lockpicking

tutorial thing again.

Lockpicking, very, very common in

RPGs. I don't know why— oh, gold! I don't

know why game developers think that us

people want to have silly little

lockpicking minigames in our games when

it's not fun at all. It's just annoying,

and it's not like actual lockpicking at

all anyway, so what's the point? So yeah,

I don't know if I'm gonna keep the game.

It runs well, to be honest. Actually, my

laptop has an RTX 4050 and it

is a gaming laptop, but seems to struggle

with modern games. What was that?

Zombie. How do I block?

Whoa, headshot! Yeah, but this game

actually runs really well and I don't

think it's on super gimped mode. It's like

medium, so I think they have done a good

job with the optimization. I don't

know why you would get this game instead

of just getting Skyrim, because Skyrim

came out later and it's a more modern

game. Although this, I guess technically

this is more modern because it came out as

a remastered version way after Skyrim,

and Skyrim is gonna be showing its age

now. Although this game doesn't exactly

show young age. It's not like this game is

blowing me away, that's why it's running

decently, I guess. So yeah, I guess if you

want like a modern-day RPG and not have to

play something 15 years old, uh, this is a

good contender since it's remastered and

doesn't look so ugly. It's kind of like,

imagine you're dating this girl and she's

getting on a bit. You've been together for

like 10 years, she's starting to show her

age, and you start to get a bit bored with

that. You could just continue dating her,

or you could create problems making her

unhappy, leading her to dump you because

she's unhappy. And then you can be like,

what? I didn't even do anything wrong.

Why are you dumping me? So then you're not

the— you are basically the victim because

you got dumped. And now you can go and

find a girlfriend who's 10, 15 years

younger, and she just looks way better.

You have more interesting time, less

fighting, hopefully. And that's kind of

what this game is representing, in my

opinion. You're basically

trading in something old and ugly for

something newer and better looking.

The combat is a bit boring, to be honest.

You got block, you got heavy attack,

you got your mortar and pestle.

Very basic combat. Throws out a tripwire.

Oh, it's a trap. Can I push him into the

trap? Bear pelt.

It's quite

nice to play with the controller.

Why does this remind me of those days when

I played Sons of the Forest with that girl

when I was in Thailand?

I can't believe that actually happened

now. It's kind of crazy to think we played

Sons of the Forest loads, basically

finished the whole game together.

Different times, weren't they?

Didn't die. I might try a

different weapon. I've got

a rusty iron war axe.

Can I dual wield? Where's he gone?

Yeah, but for £50, I don't know. Oh, this

does crap damage. The sword was way

better. Oh my god, I'm gonna die.

It doesn't— oh, 3 damage. So this is the

best weapon. Yeah, this is way better.

Yeah, I would not keep this game. I think

I would refund it. Reasons why: number 1,

I'm already bored. This is boring.

This is boring gameplay.

Number 2, it looks, it looks rubbish. The

graphics are crap. Number 3, I don't want

to spend £50. I want my £50 back. And

number 4, I don't care about the story or

anything else really. So for those

reasons, I'm gonna have to give this a 3

out of 10. Do not buy, not recommended.

Protect the Emperor until help arrives.

What was the point of that? What makes you

think help will get here before more of

those bad guys? Oh, calm down, it's just

me. Can I pickpocket the Emperor?

He's got nothing.

What was that? Well, I just one-shot him.

Damn it, it's that prisoner again. She

might be working with the Emperor. May

trust you. Why did he say kill me? No,

she is not one of them. Can they

attack me if I keep hitting them? I'm out

of patience with you, prisoner.

Your death— they cannot understand why I

trust you. They've not seen what I've

seen. Yeah, maybe they shouldn't trust me.

Let's just whack him in the face with my

sword. You know the Nine. I've served the

sky. I know. Choose your birth sign. Uh,

I don't care because I'm gonna refund it.
