Because it's really hard to hold the car on a hill with the foot brake and then quickly let go of the foot brake and get biting point in gas without stalling it. I've tried and I just stalled it. You always got to put the handbrake on, do a handbrake hill start. There's so much fiddling with electric cars.

You just let go of the foot brake and press the gas and it goes easy.

The thing I hated most was stalling the car. Then you got to turn off the engine, turn it back on again.
