Diablo IV is Incredible On The ROG Ally： Here's Why

Hello, welcome back to a new video. So

today, as you can see, we are playing

Diablo 4 on the ROG Ally that

I have in front of me here. And you can

see I have my keyboard and my mouse

plugged in, so we're going to be playing

keyboard and mouse. I can't get my Xbox

controller to work on it for some reason.

It connects and it recognizes when I press

the buttons, but when I press the movement

buttons or any buttons, it doesn't

actually do anything in the game. So we're

gonna have to play with keyboard and mouse

because I can't figure out how to fix that

problem. Okay, so I'll zoom in so you have

better viewing angle.

And yeah, I didn't really expect this game

to be playing so well on the ROG Ally,

but you can see we've got some specs up

here. It's kind of cool because the ROG

Ally had a new update recently and there's

new— now different ways to view the

real-time monitor. We've got the square

Which is the original one, this kind of

square thing here which shows you the FPS,

temperatures, battery life. I don't know

why it's kind of fuzzy. Let me just see

if it's the lens blurring or something.

Yeah, it's still kind of fuzzy. I don't

know why it's not really super sharp.

What if I do this?

Anyway, I think you know what I mean.

You've got this square thing, and then

you've also got a minimal, which just

shows you a few bits— battery life, time,

and FPS. And then you've also got this

more detailed row, which looks pretty

cool, and it's also got like a little

performance line graph here moving around.

So that's pretty cool. Now I want to show

you the gameplay. It's really good to play

this game on the ROG Ally. Obviously you

can just play it in your hands with the

controllers, but usually I play with my

mouse and keyboard plugged into a monitor.

But sometimes I do go over to the bed for

some bed action to play it in my hands.

But you really want to use keyboard and

mouse with the game like this because you

can manage the inventory system much more

efficiently. So today we're going to do

something easy, maybe a Tier 21 Nightmare

Dungeon. Because it is kind of hard to see

the screen because I'm sitting here, I'm

not really super close to the screen, and

everything's kind of small. And I'm

looking through the viewfinder of my phone

to monitor it, and it's kind of delayed by

half a second or something. So my

gaming ability is not going to be the

best, but I wanted to show you how good

Diablo 4 is on the ROG Ally.

You can see the FPS is about 37,

50. I might put some sound on.

I don't know how well the sound's going to

pick up because my microphone is facing

away from it. I can't remember where

my hotkeys are. I think my ice armor

is on No,

that was teleport.

W. Yeah, okay, it's been a while

since I played this.

So my current build is I got Balls of

Lightning that orbit around me, and then I

spam Arc Lash whilst

I recharge mana. And then for defense,

we have Frost Nova and and ice armor.

Let me just check if it's in focus.

Yeah, I think it is in focus. Looks good

to me. It's kind of loud.

Oh my god, oh, some red little thing just

circled. Okay, I think we're back.

I have no idea why, but the recording just

stopped itself even though I didn't even

touch anything on the screen. I didn't run

out of storage, got loads of storage. Now

I forgot what I was saying. Yeah, I was

saying, um, so annoying having to repeat

what I just said. I was saying you can

play keyboard and mouse, and you can also

possibly use a wired controller as well.

But I haven't figured out how to make my

Xbox controller work on this yet.

And that would be good if you wanted to

plug this into a TV and then sit back on

the sofa with the wired Xbox controller,

which I think is much more comfortable

than the ROG Ally controller. It's kind of

uncomfortable holding the ROG Ally for a

long period of time because it's not super

well designed to be in your hands. Unlike

the Xbox controller, which has a really

good design.

So the problem with this build is you need

to keep spamming Balls of Lightning

whenever you have enough mana.

Really struggling to talk and not die at

the same— why are all these enemies just

standing here not dying?

Okay, I think I got the situation under

control. I'm just trying to stay alive

whilst also talk and also make sure the

video is actually recording this time. I

have no idea why my phone just stopped

recording. It's really weird, it's never

done that before.

Okay, got a new sigil.

So yeah, the game plays really well.

Don't really have any problems. We're at

48 FPS. It runs butterily smooth,

no lag at all. Really great

feeling and experience.

I actually think this plays better on my

ROG Ally than it played on my gaming

laptop.

It's amazing, these new

handheld devices, they're so powerful, so

portable, and it's all thanks to the Steam

Deck. It really started off this whole

industry of Windows handheld devices that

probably wouldn't have started or probably

wouldn't have this much competition in the

market if it wasn't because of the Steam

Deck proving that there's millions of

people who want something like this. Just

a couple years ago, stuff like this didn't

even exist. The best we had was the Switch

for a handheld gaming device. I don't

understand why anyone would want to buy a

Switch anymore. Look at this, I'm playing

Diablo 4, or Diablo 4. On this

tiny little device. Look, I can zoom out,

show you what it's like.

Look at my balls of lightning.

Yeah, so if you want to see how Diablo 4

runs on the ROG Ally, I would say it runs

absolutely perfectly.
